Chapter 18: 15|Breakfast

Sereia's POV

I cuddled the small teddy bear as I lay in bed.

Surprisingly, I felt way better than yesterday.

Not because of some magical teddy bear, but because my body was adjusting.

Last night I almost went crazy because I couldn't get high.

Violet kept haunting me.

Why me? Why doesn't she hunt Olivia?

Why must Olivia sleep peacefully in her mansion while I suffer in the dark?

I keep thinking Violet's upset with me for taking longer than I should've to get revenge.

I should've pushed Serena harder to expose Olivia.

I should've had a better plan.

I should've checked on Violet more when she was alive. Maybe I would've picked up on her intentions.

I wasn't even the one to find her. It was my father.

I should've cared more.

Tears fell out of my eyes as I squeezed the teddy bear tighter.

This is all my fault.

I need to try harder. I need to gain his trust. I need him to break her heart.

I forced myself to get ready.

Today, I wore a delicate white crochet blouse paired with a soft cream jacket and matching pants.

I let my hair down from its ponytail, allowing it to fall gracefully to the sides.

When I looked at myself in the mirror, I practised my smile like I did every morning.

I was getting better at faking it.

I couldn't risk him calling me out like that again.

After I was satisfied, I picked up my bag and his teddy bear.

I began to make my way to the door, but I immediately stopped to spray perfume all over my body.

As I sprayed myself, a fragrance of delicate cherry blossoms emerged.

Now, I was ready to go.

I left my room and headed to the room number I remembered seeing on his key card.

I gave three strong knocks and prepared myself to smile.

A few seconds passed before he opened the door.

His eyes widened when they landed on me.

I smiled. "Morning, sir."

My eyes scanned his half-ready outfit.

His black dress pants were on, but his light blue dress pants sat on him unbuttoned.

His bare chest being exposed to me for the first time was a sight I never wanted to forget.

"Ms. Sinclair," he replied surprised. "What are you doing here? The conference doesn't start for another two hours."

I giggled. "I figured I should return your teddy bear. I'm all better now."

He shook his head. "No, keep it."

"This is yours," I told him as I handed him the bear. "You'll need his magic if you get sick again."

He returned it to my hands. "You can give me back when your nightmares are gone."

"Deal," I said. "I was also thinking that maybe we could have breakfast together?"

He stayed quiet as he tried to think. "I don't think that's a good idea."

"Please, it's my treat," I said. "I need to return the favour for everything you've given me."

He put his lips together and thoughtfully watched me. "I'm your employer, I'm not doing you any favours. It's a part of my job to cover you."

"It's just breakfast," I told him with an innocent smile.

"I'm not properly dressed," he tried to find any excuse.

"I can wait."

He sighed before nodding. "I'll meet you downstairs."

My heart started beating faster when I contemplated making a bold move.

This was crossing the line, even for me.

Just do it, Sereia!

"Or I can just wait in your room," I daringly spoke as I pushed myself forward.

His arms immediately wrapped around my waist, his strong hold piercing pain through my skin.

My heart continued to race as I waited for his response.

"Where do you think you're going?"

I smiled confidently. "Inside with you."

He sighed as he gently pushed me out. "Ms. Sinclair, I thought we were already passed this unprofessionalism?"

"What's unprofessional about waiting for you to get ready?" I asked.

He looked at me trying to figure out if I was this stupid or not.

"I will meet you downstairs, Ms. Sinclair" he said before he closed the door in my face.

I clenched my fist and made my way to the lobby.

He was making things so difficult for me.

I'll get back at him for all the effort he cost me.

For the remainder of our trip I'll tempt him and make him lust over me.

I'll make sure we leave here with him wanting me.

I don't care anymore. I'll cross the line and make him forget there was even a line.

He deserves it. The rich are all the same.

After a few minutes of me listening to my angry thoughts, his figure approached me.

He was now fully suited. "Ready?"

I smiled as I stood up. "As I'll ever be!"

He slightly smiled as my expression. "You're silly."

"Sometimes being silly is the best thing to do," I said as we walked to the cafe across the street.

"In what world is being silly the best option?" he asked as we crossed the street.

"My world."

He held back the negative comment he wanted to express as he held the door open for me.

"Say it," I told him. "I know you want to."

He shook his head. "I have nothing to say."

We stood in the line.

"You think what I'm saying makes no sense," I said his words for him.

"I never said that."

"But you're thinking it," I told him and he held back a smile.

"Next," the cashier said and we walked up to her.

"Order anything you like boss," I said while I proudly took out my purse.

He nodded before looking at the menu. "I'll take a double expresso and a croissant."

She nodded before looking me. "And you miss?"

"A mochea and a muffin, please."

"Alright, your total is on the screen," she said and before I could even see the price, he was already handing her his credit card.

"I said I was going to pay," I bitterly told him.

"Save your money, new girl," he told me. "You'll pay me back in other ways."

I felt intrigued as dirty thoughts came my mind.

"Like?" I smiled sinfully.

He pushed his wallet back in his pants pocket before turning to me with a serious face.

"Like acting like the director of my company and nothing else."

Any hope I had in him slowly faded.

"I'm going to find us a seat. You stay here and wait for the order."

Just kill me already.

"This is you," the cashier said as she placed our orders on a tray.

"Thanks," I replied as I picked it up and carried it to where he was sitting.

He was now engulfed in his phone and didn't even realized I was present.

He suddenly slammed his phone so hard on the table that I flinched.

Everyone around us stopped to look at him.

He sighed before finally looking up at me.

"Everything okay?" I asked as I sat down.

"I didn't realize that you came. Sorry," he apologized.

I shook my head. "It's fine. Looks like something got you angry this morning."

He sighed again as he took his expresso and crossant. "I just lost ten million."

My heart dropped. "What? Well, can you get it back?"

"It's fine," he said before he took a taste of his coffee. "It's not that much."

I can't imagine the things I would do if I had ten million.

"Right, it's fine," I pretended to agree with him as I began to drink my mochea.

I noticed his body stiffened as his eyes fixated on my lips.

I pretended not to notice by continuing to drink.

When I had enough, I licked my lips.

"Mmm, that was good," I said before looking to him.

When our eyes locked, a bit of his expresso fell on his pants.

He immediately began to curse under his breath.

"Oh, are you okay?" I pretended to be concerned as I rushed to his side.

"It's fine," he said but I ignored him.

I grabbed the tissues from the tabletop and began wiping his pants.

I held in my smile when I moved my hands to the area where his dick was.

He immediately grabbed my hands.

"I said it's fine," his voice growled, a warning for me to back off.

I looked down so that he wouldn't see the smile on my face. "As you wish, sir."
