The Life Of A German SoldierWords: 1646

Ernst was afraid to pull the knife out of his leg by himself, Albert had to do it. The bloody knife tip laid on the ground, dripping with Ernst's blood. The bleeding was not close to stopping.

"Put pressure on it!" yelled Wilhelm to Albert.

Wilhelm had grabbed clothes around the shop to put on Ernst's wound. Blood soaked into all of the clothes. The knife wound was deep, almost hitting the bone then going around it to make it deeper.

"God it's not stopping! Give me more clothes!" yelled Albert.

"It must have cut into the main artery of his leg." said Wilhelm as he quickly walked over to get more clothes.

"Must have it seems."

Ernst continued pounding the floor from all of the pain, making things vibrate on the walls and the shelf. He screamed at the top of his lungs the first couple times until the pain started to go down, blood continued to gush.

A giant puddle of blood surrounded Ernst's legs after about  five minutes. The unfinished wooden floor absorbed all of the blood, leaving the wood dark. Ernst continued to pound the floor and hitting his other leg.

"Am I going to die?" he asked.

"No Ernst. Don't think that." Albert replied.

"But it cut into the main artery in my leg which is what Wilhelm said. Couldn't that kill me?"

Albert did not answer, he just continued looking down at the wound. All of the sudden, Ernst sat still with his hands starting to twitch. His eyes began to water as he started to sink down from the wall he was against.

"Help me. Why is everything so blurry?" he cried out.

His head slowly fell to the floor while Albert looked into his blue eyes that were filled with fear and soon possibly, death.
