I sighed for the millionth time as I decided to shut down my laptop. I wasnât focused since all I could think about, was the fact that my fiancée is in another country. It had been three days, and granted sheâs with a friend of mine, it didnât make me feel the slightest bit better.
I also couldnât stop thinking about the last conversation we had. A big part of me felt guilty for my coldness towards her, but the truth was that she needed to hear those words. Iâm in love with her, and I honestly didnât want her staying around because she felt that she needed to for the sake of the girls.
It would drive me insane knowing that sheâs around, but that she isnât mine.
I headed to the room that the girls had chosen. As usual, they chose to stay together. Every time we travel, the hotel managers at my hotels know to accommodate the girls somehow, someway, and this time was no different as the girls shared a king sized bed.
I went to kiss each of their foreheads. I had grown closer to my daughters, and even if my relationship with Aretha didnât work, Iâd always be grateful to her for that- for her helping me to open up more to my children.
I was about to head to bed when there was a knock at the door. I had no idea who it could be since Bianca hadnât come with us. She and Luigi were still quite angry with me, so she chose to stay behind and handle the company, while he stayed behind with Rhonda and my sister.
When I opened the door, my first reaction was to scowl, which had never really happened before, given the situation before me. Iâd seen her like this many times before, and while sheâd never exactly excited me, I was pretty sure that I had never scowled at her before.
âCeline,â I deadpanned.
âRaphael,â she purred.
âHow can I help you?â I asked, ignoring the fact that she was standing before me in a lingerie set and trench coat.
âIâve come to talk business,â she said sarcastically.
Two can play that game.
âOh? Since when do you liaise on your fatherâs behalf?â I asked, leaning against the doorframe. Annoyance crossed her features before she regained composure.
âYouâve never made me work to get in before,â she cocked her head to the side.
âMy daughters are in the room, and not forgetting that Iâm not a single man,â I shrugged.
âCome again? Your daughters are sleeping in the same suite as you? Youâre not single? Stop talking nonsense Raphael!â she snapped.
âWhatever youâd like to call it, itâs still true,â I said disinterestedly.
âYouâre being awfully cold,â she cocked an eyebrow.
âHave you ever known me to be any different?â it was my turn to cock my head to the side.
âNo, but youâre completely uninterested,â she huffed.
âSo youâre not just a pretty face,â I rolled my eyes.
âAre you going to let me in or not?â she asked impatiently.
âWhat part of my daughters are here, and Iâm taken, didnât register to you?â I frowned.
âAll of it! I donât know why youâre suddenly playing hard to get. You and I both know that you wouldnât settle down, and that you donât really want those rugrats close to you,â she replied before pushing past me into the suite.
âGet out,â I narrowed my eyes at her.
âNah, I think Iâll stay. Youâre bluffing, and I think itâs about time we stop playing games. I think itâs time you fucked me like I deserve to be fucked by you Raphael. I think Iâve waited long enough,â she purred.
âIâm beginning to think your parents wasted their money sending you to private schools since they clearly did nothing for your intellectual thinking. But then again, from the shit youâre spewing, I highly doubt any thinking went into your words,â I scoffed. This time, fury flashed in her eyes.
âYouâre being rude!â she snapped.
âYouâre being obnoxious. Keep your voice down. My children are asleep,â I glared at her.
âYeah right! Give it up!â she rolled her eyes. Before I could reply, my phone went off. I was grateful when I saw who was calling and I put her on loud speaker.
âCara mia,â I responded. Celineâs eyes narrowed into slits.
âCaro, quick question. Do you prefer chocolate or vanilla?â she asked.
âChocolate, why?â I asked in confusion.
âItâs nothing. How are the girls?â she giggled.
âTheyâre asleep again, but they were excited to tell me all the things you promised them,â I chuckled. Celine was looking at me with confusion clear in her eyes.
âYeah well this place is just too amazing, but look at me being mean and not asking you how you are,â she said.
Sheâs amazing like that.
âI had a long day of meetings. I was on my way to bed when an unannounced visitor showed up at my door practically half naked and she wont leave,â I replied, looking straight at Celine. I was met by silence, and I knew she was upset at that bit of information.
âIs it who I think it is?â she asked.
Yes, Iâd actually told Aretha about Celine. I didnât want her getting any surprises down the line. I told her about all the women Iâve been linked to one way or the other, so that should any of them attempt to break us apart, she already knows where we stand.
âYeah,â I said.
âAm I on speaker?â she asked.
âYep!â I replied.
âCeline White?â she called to the woman in the room.
âYou know who I am?â Celine responded.
âMy fiancé warned me that youâd try something. Please be so kind as to leave him alone. Heâs a committed man and Iâd like for things to stay that way,â Aretha said sweetly. Celine looked shocked.
Such a damn turn on!
âWhat bullshit stunt do you think youâre playing at? Raphael isnât engaged. It would be all over the news. Besides, who the hell are you to tell me what to do?â Celine snapped.
âI happen to be the woman that man proposed to. I happen to be the woman who his daughters call âmummyâ. I happen to be the woman that man is in love with. I also happen to be the kind of woman who you really wouldnât want to mess with,â Aretha replied.
âWhat? Youâre intimidated by me? Canât take me on?â Celine asked, looking very chuffed might I add.
âOn the contrary doll. Iâm just confident enough to know that Raphael will never be yours. You will never fit into his life. You will never be able to get our daughters to love you, and best of all, youâll never be me,â Aretha replied confidently.
I was just about ready to burst with pride.
âIâm not afraid of you bitch! Do you have any idea who I am?â Celine asked angrily.
âI donât need you to be afraid of me. Quite frankly, I couldnât be bothered, just like Iâm not bothered enough to know who you really are. Youâre of no significance to me, so please donât make the mistake of thinking that I care, and leave my fiancé alone while youâre at it,â Aretha told her.
âWho the hell do you think you are?â Celine said, clearly outraged.
âCaro, sarebbe meglio assicurarsi che lei scompare. Ora mi sento super possessivo e geloso di destra e non mi piace un po'. Mi fido di te, ma non mi fido di lei. Si prega di sbarazzarsi di lei,â Aretha said to me. Last I checked, Celine doesnât speak Italian, so we were safe.
âSei geloso e possessivo?â I asked amusedly.
âChe vuoi hai indovinato?â she sighed.
âOk, prometto che ti sbarazzarsi di lei. Posso chiamarti più tardi?â I asked.
âMi piacerebbe che,â she replied.
âVa bene! Ti amo,â I told her.
âCiao,â she said before hanging up.
I was getting used to her not saying it back, and it didnât bother me because while I was hurt at first, I realized that while she may not say it, she shows it. Her response to Celineâs presence here confirms it.
âSo, youâre still standing there,â I commented, looking at Celine. There was a good distance between us, and I intended to keep it that way.
âI donât believe it,â she shrugged.
âOk,â I said before grabbing the phone.
âWho are you calling now?â she scowled.
âHo un problema e ho bisogno di rimuoverlo dalla mia camera,â I told Sven.
âArrivo subito,â he said before hanging up the phone.
âWho was that on the phone with you?â Celine asked.
âDemanding little thing arenât you?â I raised an eyebrow.
âI just want to know,â she mumbled.
âWhat makes you think you deserve to know?â I asked.
âWhy are you being so mean?â she pouted.
âBecause youâre not welcome here and youâre failing to understand this,â I replied before there was a knock at the door. Sven stepped in a moment later, dressed in a black t-shirt and black sweatpants.
âSeriously?!? You called your bodyguard on me?â Celine shouted.
âDaddy, whatâs going on?â Caprice asked, rubbing her eyes as she stood at the room door. Celineâs eyes were wide in disbelief.
âItâs nothing princess. Go back to sleep,â I sighed.
âI canât,â my baby girl pouted.
âYou want some milk?â I asked her. She nodded as she walked up to me. I picked her up and turned to Celine.
âYou can leave willingly or Sven here will help you out,â I informed.
âThis isnât the last time youâll be hearing from me,â she glared at me.
âCrazy lady,â Caprice whispered, making me chuckle.
âSven,â I nodded to the man before heading to the kitchen, not really caring what happens with Celine.
It took a while to get Caprice back to sleep. We ended up watching TV, and she eventually fell asleep on my chest. I picked her up and took her to bed, before finally heading to sleep myself. I only had a few hours of sleep.
Four hours later, I was up and getting ready for the day. I still had a countless number of meetings, and I honestly just wanted the day to be over before it even began. The girls were staying in with Sven. He wasnât too keen on letting me go out by myself, but he understood that the girls needed his protection more than I did.
I left for my office, facing little traffic, which I was grateful for. It amazed me that regardless of which of my offices I went to, the response from people was still the same. They feared me. I used to revel in that feeling, but now, not so much. I didnât like being feared.
As Aretha once told me, itâs a completely different thing to be respected, than to be feared.
I didnât even know if my staff respects me. It took a while for me to actually understand her statement. Now that I do, I canât help but be curious about whether or not I am respected. It would be interesting to find out.
I walked into my office and Johan, my temporary PA, rushed in after me. I raised an eyebrow at him and he nervously handed me his tablet. It was open on an article about Celine and I. According to the article, we were a thing, and the delusional woman actually gushed and told the press that weâre engaged.
The things her father is willing to pay for amazes me.
âAnd?â I asked Johan.
âMiss Washington called for you. She said your phone was off,â he informed. I scowled and took out my phone to find it switched off. It mustâve died.
âDid she sound upset?â I asked.
âA little,â he nodded.
âAlright! What do I have on schedule?â I sighed.
âWell, I figured youâd want to call your fiancée now, so I moved your first meeting to nine,â he said timidly. It was only seven.
âThank you,â I scowled. I wasnât used to people doing such things for me.
âAnytime,â he smiled.
âPlease get me-â I started off, only to be interrupted.
âHello darling,â Celine sauntered into my office.
âGet out,â I glared at her.
âCome now Raphael. Donât be like that,â she pouted.
âJohan, get me security right now, as well as Christopher,â I requested. Christopher is my Head of Security here in Australia. Johan nodded and walked out.
âYouâre seriously calling security on me again?â Celine scowled. I picked up the phone to call Sven.
âSir,â he replied as he answered the phone.
âGet all the Heads of Security on board and tell them that Celine White is banned from any Maestri Empire associated building. Sheâs banned from going to any of my residences, and while youâre at it, get a restraining order drawn up against her. I want her nowhere near me or my family, Arethaâs friends and family included,â I instructed before hanging up. Celine looked downright panicked.
âYouâre not serious,â she said lowly just as two men walked in with Christopher.
âSir, you called,â Christopher said. I was already waiting on the phone to connect.
âRaphael.â
The way she said my name sent a chill down my spine, and not a good one either.
âPlease escort Miss White off of my premises. Sven will brief you and everyone else about instructions regarding any future interactions with Miss White. Sheâs been banned from setting foot in any of my buildings. Are we clear?â I told Christopher.
âCrystal,â Christopher nodded before indicating to the two men to help Celine out.
âYOU CANâT DO THIS TO ME!â Celine thrashed around.
âCeline, this is a work environment. Stop behaving like a banshee. There are people who are actually here to make a living,â I glared at her once more.
âI will ruin you Raphael,â she spat.
âNot really, but Iâd love to see you try. Get her out of my sight,â I instructed. The guards wasted no further time in dragging her out. Johan was standing there with his phone, recording the whole thing.
âYou caught all of that?â I asked him.
âAll of it Sir. Who do you wish for me to send it to?â he asked.
âMiss Agostini and my fiancée. Theyâll know what to do with it,â I replied before getting back to the phone.
âCaramia,â I sighed. I was honestly fuming, but I knew I had to remain calm.
âIâm sorry,â she apologized.
âWhat for?â I asked in confusion.
âI shouldâve trusted you more. Itâs just, when I saw the article, I thought I would lose my mind. I thought you hadnât gotten rid of her as Iâd asked. I just, I thought the worst,â she admitted.
âYou believed it?â I asked in confusion. Surely she wouldnât.
Right?
âI did,â she whispered.
Wrong!
âSo, my confessing my love for you means absolutely nothing to you?â I couldnât hide the anger in my tone.
âIâm sorry Rafe, I really am, but you donât understand where Iâm coming from, and I guess itâs my own fault for that, but believe me when I say that I donât doubt your love for me. I just had a really stupid moment of weakness,â she explained.
âI canât, I canât be on the phone with you right now,â I said before hanging up.
I needed to relieve my anger, and I didnât know how. It felt like the walls were closing in on me, like I was about to suffocate. Johan walked in with my coffee in hand, but when he saw my expression, his eyes widened a little, and he looked like a deer caught in the headlights.
âI think Iâll just cancel your meetings for today,â he said warily.
Iâm beginning to like him.
He walked out of the office and did exactly that. While I was pissed off, the only way I could vent, was by putting my anger into my work. I spent the whole day in my office, with the only call I took being from the girls.
My mind couldnât stop going back to Arethaâs words, and I realized that Iâd fallen in love with a woman I donât know. While I have openly admitted that I have demons, she seems to be closed off, and I was shocked that it had taken me so long to figure that out.
I want to marry her though. I may not know everything about her, but I know for a fact that sheâs it for me. Iâll never love any other woman the way I love her. If sheâs willing to deal with my demons, I should be able to do the same.
Thatâs kinda what love is about.
âHello,â she sniffed.
âDio! Please tell me youâre not crying,â I groaned.
âIâm not crying,â she lied. I could hear the coarseness in her voice.
âAri,â I sighed.
âIâm sorry ok? I feel horrible,â she replied.
âSo do I. Iâm sorry I made you cry tesoro. Itâs the last thing Iâd ever want to do. Itâs just that I didnât realize that you have things that you also probably dealt with in your past. Youâve been very brilliant at hiding that little fact,â I replied.
âI didnât really hide it. I just wasnât as expressive about it,â she countered.
âWell, do you want to talk now?â I asked.
âNo. If weâre going to be sharing secrets, weâll be doing it in person,â she said.
âI canât wait to see you again,â I sighed, leaning back in my chair.
âHow long do you still have to be in Australia for?â she asked.
âAbout two more days. How long are you still in Argentina for?â I asked.
âIâm flying back tomorrow,â she replied.
âTomorrow?â that was news to me.
âUh, yeah! Iâm kind of done with Argentina. Iâve got something I need to handle back home, and Jonathan agreed to help me,â she replied.
âAnd what is this something?â I asked.
âA surprise?â she offered.
âAlright fine, I wont pester you any further,â I chuckled.
âGood! Are you still at the office?â she asked.
âIâm about to leave, why?â I counter asked.
âI was thinking you could join in my video chat with the girls today,â she said shyly.
âIâd love to. I miss seeing your face,â I sighed. It just wasnât the same with the photo on my phone.
âI know, me too,â she whined before coughing.
âAri, are you sick?â I asked.
âNo,â she said quickly.
âWhatâs wrong?â I asked as I headed into my car.
âItâs nothing,â she said before coughing again. It even sounded like she was heaving this time.
âAretha,â I said in warning.
âIâve got food poisoning,â she mumbled.
âMerda! Why didnât you say anything sooner?â I cursed as I drove out of the building.
âI didnât want to bother you with something so small,â she replied.
âFood poisoning is nothing small Aretha. How long have you been sick for?â I asked.
âTwo days now. Jonathan thinks itâs best I fly home and recover there,â she sighed.
âSo you didnât get to enjoy Argentina?â I asked.
âNot really,â she replied.
âWeâll go another time. Whereâs Jonathan?â I asked.
âHere he is,â she said before there was shuffling in the background.
âAmbrosi,â Jonathan said.
âFood poisoning and you didnât think to tell me this Joel?â I asked him.
âYour fiancée can be very persuasive and you should know that,â he sighed.
âThatâs not the point here. I asked you to look after her and you failed me. How bad is it?â I asked.
âIt was bad yesterday but she looks much better today. Sheâs throwing up less and the diarrhoea is gone. She just needs lots of rest and sheâll b fine,â he replied.
âHave you gone to see a proper doctor?â I questioned.
âI knew youâd be concerned about that, hence me arranging to fly back in the jet so that she can see your doctor ASAP,â he said.
âWhy didnât you take the jet to begin with?â I asked.
âLiam had it. He was going to surprise Marci,â he replied. Liam is his cousin and Marciaâs husband.
âAlright! Take care of her Joel. Sheâs the most important person to me after my daughters,â I sighed.
âI know Ambrosi. Sheâs in capable hands. You just finish up there and then come home to nurse her back to health yourself because you know you wont stop stressing until you see her with your own eyes,â he chuckled.
âHow did she take the Celine news?â I asked curiously.
âShe was literally upset for a minute, before she realized that she was upset for nothing, but then she started stressing about how sheâd doubted you, even for that minute. That woman loves you and doesnât even know how to deal with that,â he laughed.
âYou reckon?â I scowled, despite not being seen as I pulled into the yard.
âTrust me on this Ambrosi. Sheâs just afraid, and youâll know why once youâve both dealt with each otherâs demons,â he replied.
âI hear you. Anyway, please put her back on the line,â I requested.
âKay man,â he replied before there was shuffling again.
âDone with your check-up?â she asked amusedly.
âI am,â I chuckled.
âI miss you so much,â she sighed.
âI miss you too cara mia. I just got home now. Do you want to video chat with the girls still?â I asked.
âUhm, I donât think itâs a good idea. I look like death as is,â she replied.
âHold on,â I said before clicking on the video call icon on my screen. Her face popped up and she looked tired.
âAre you sure itâs not as big a deal?â I frowned.
âYouâre stressing for nothing Rafe. Iâm fine, or at least I will be,â she sent a weak smile.
âIâll take your word for it, but I want you to see a doctor as soon as you land,â I told her.
âYes dad,â she rolled her eyes at me.
âIâm serious Aretha,â I sighed.
âI know you are caro. I promise that the doctor will be my first stop,â she sent a proper smile.
âGood! Iâll tell the girls that youâre not feeling well, and that youâll see them back at home,â I informed.
âMaybe I could talk to them on the phone instead?â she pouted.
âOk, ok, put that thing away,â I chuckled as I left the car. I switched to voice call before heading inside the hotel.
âGood evening Mr Maestri,â the receptionist greeted. I sent a nod her way as I headed towards the elevator.
âGood evening Mr Maestri,â Aretha mocked in my ear.
âIs that jealousy Miss Washington?â I chuckled as the elevator moved up. I was in it with a group of women who were shamefully checking me out.
âI didnât realize how annoying it is to actually hear other women say such things,â she admitted.
âTheyâre just greeting me Ari,â I pointed out.
âDo they have to use their bedroom voices?â she complained.
âBedroom voices?â I laughed.
âYeah! You know, they purr or their voices drop like four notes lower,â she explained.
âIt doesnât matter how they greet me cara mia. Only you know how to turn me on,â I replied, simultaneously killing the creepy looks from the women in the elevator.
âRaphael!â Aretha gasped as the elevator reached the floor where the women were getting off. When they were off, it was just me left.
âIâm only speaking the truth. Youâre the only woman I fantasize about, the only woman I imagine doing very dirty things to,â I told her.
âRafe,â she said, sounding breathless.
âYou are the only woman who does it for me Aretha Washington. I canât wait to have you naked beneath me, making you scream my name,â I said as the elevator opened on my floor.
âI canât wait either.â
That one line had the power to not only change my breathing, but to make me freeze in the elevator. I had to hold onto the railing. I didnât expect that line from her. Aretha is so shy most of the time and she chooses the most inopportune times to surprise me.
âI canât wait to feel your hands all over my body. I canât for you to taste me, to kiss me all over; for you to love me like I need to be loved by you. I canât wait to scream your name to the heavens, until I can barely gather my wits. I simply cannot wait Signor Maestri.â
She hung up the phone and left me there, basically speechless. I had a painful boner and I managed to get into the hotel room without being spotted by any of the girls. I opted for a very cold shower, but I couldnât get her words out of my mind, which meant it was a very long and freezing shower.
By the time I stepped into the lounge in my sweatpants and t-shirt, the girls were on the phone with her.
âDADDY!â they squealed and came to hug me.
âHello my princesses. How are you?â I asked.
âWeâre talking to mummy,â Calinda informed.
âAretha,â I said.
âRaphael,â she giggled.
âWhy did you call her name like that?â Caterina asked me.
âMummyâs not very nice,â I told her.
âMummy, what did you do to daddy?â Caprice asked, almost scolding her.
âI didnât do anything to daddy,â Aretha giggled.
âMummy,â Camilla said in warning.
âI only teased him,â Aretha admitted.
âDaddy, you canât handle teasing?â Caterina giggled.
âI can,â I mumbled while they all laughed at me. Sven sent me a signal to say he was leaving, which I nodded to.
âNah, you canât,â Aretha laughed.
âI will get back at you caramia,â I told her.
âIâll be waiting caro,â she said happily.
This woman!
âHow was your day at work daddy?â Caprice asked me.
âIt was very long. How was your stay here?â I asked.
âIt was ok, but that Celine lady came over while Sven was helping Caterina in the kitchen. She told me to tell you that she wants to take us to Disneyland, but I told her that mummy was already going to take us,â Caprice explained.
I was livid.
âCaprice honey, when was this?â Aretha asked.
âIt was in the afternoon,â Caprice replied. I grabbed the phone and took it off of loudspeaker.
âShe got passed security,â Aretha said the exact words I was thinking.
âIâll have to talk to Sven,â I sighed.
âI want her nowhere near our children Raphael,â Aretha told me.
âI promise you she wont get anywhere near them,â I replied, pride spreading through me at her words.
âAm I still on speaker?â she asked.
âI took you off for a while,â I replied.
âOh ok! Please put me back on,â she requested, which I carried out.
âMummy, are you ok?â Calinda asked.
âGirls, if you ever see Celine again, run in the opposite direction ok?â Aretha told them.
âOk, but why?â Camilla asked.
âBecause sheâs very dangerous and she might hurt you to get to mummy and daddy ok?â Aretha told them.
âOk, we promise,â Caprice told her.
âGood! I love you guys so much!â Aretha sighed.
âEven daddy?â Caterina asked.
âEven daddy,â Aretha replied without a doubt.
âWe love you too mummy. Weâll be seeing you very soon,â I said.
âI know and I canât wait,â Aretha giggled.
The phone call didnât last very long after that. I took the girls for their baths before they all changed into pyjamas and snuggled on the couch, leaving me to order in room service. Once theyâd been fed, they passed out on the couch, so I had to carry them to their room. Luckily I had no other encounters for the night.
The following day was filled with back to back meetings, since I decided to move everything up so that I could be done with Australia. I hadnât spoken to Aretha, but sheâd texted to say she was back home and would see me in two daysâ time.
The second to last day in Australia was the busiest, but also the strangest. I hadnât had a single call from the girls, and they were dressed by the time I left for work. They looked extra excited about something, but I couldnât decipher what it was.
âJohan, have I received anything from the girls?â I asked him on our way back from a meeting. It was just about lunch time.
âSir, you mean you donât know?â he scowled.
âDonât know what?â I asked in confusion.
âThe girls are gone. They left six hours ago,â he replied.
Dread filled me.
âGone? Gone where?â I panicked.
âMiss Agostini and Mr Maestri picked them up from the hotel this morning,â Johan informed.
âGet Marcia on the phone,â I instructed. I knew it would be futile trying to reach Bianca or Luigi.
âBrother,â Marcia said as she answered the phone.
âWhere are Luigi and Bianca taking my children?â I asked her.
âTheyâre bringing them home. The girls wanted to surprise Aretha. Youâre more than welcome to follow behind,â she replied.
âOf course Iâm following behind,â I snapped.
âI thought you might say so. Everything has been arranged for you and is ready back at the hotel,â she informed.
Why do I feel like all of this was planned?
âFine,â I said before hanging up.
âTo the hotel sir?â Johan asked knowingly. I nodded.
When we reached the hotel, all of my stuff were gone, save for travel arrangements which had been left with the receptionist. I was on my way to the airport just minutes later, and I was surprised to be greeted by Jonathan.
âJoel,â I raised an eyebrow at him.
âAmbrosi, come on! Youâre late,â he sighed.
âLate? What the hell for?â I scowled.
âJust get on and stop asking a million and one questions,â he grumbled. I got onto the jet, and soon enough, we were in the air.
âWhat the hell is going on?â I asked.
âWell, thereâs global warming, and Iâm pretty sure somewhere in the world, there are people having great sex as we speak, so youâre going to have to be a little more specific about your question,â he smirked.
How have I not killed him yet?
âIâm not in the mood for your childish games Barclay,â I warned.
âDidnât say you were,â he shrugged.
For the love of all things!
âAaaaw, come on Ambrosi. Donât pout,â he chuckled.
âIâm not talking to you,â I said.
âBut you are,â he smirked.
âFuck off Barclay,â I growled.
âJeez, what got you in the ass?â he mumbled.
âWould you tell me whatâs going on?â I asked.
âIâm not really allowed to,â he replied.
âWhatever,â I said before looking out.
I fell asleep since I figured that he really wouldnât tell me what I wanted to know. Iâve known Jonathan for fifteen years of my life and I know heâs as stubborn as they come. Again, I wonder how the hell I havenât killed him in all this time.
I was woken up by a cold liquid dripping down my chest. I looked down and realized that it was red wine. The air hostess was panicking and apologizing a million times over, while Jonathan was trying to assure her that it was fine.
âWell mate, the only change of clothing I have here are tuxedos, and you and I are more or less the same size, so letâs get changed,â Jonathan sighed.
We got up and headed to the closet where he handed me a tuxedo, before taking one for himself. Weâd both been splashed by the wine. We had an hour of the flight left, and soon enough, we touched down. It was bright out as it was late morning.
âWhere are we going?â I asked when I realized that we werenât heading to my house.
âLong route to your house?â he offered.
âWould you not attempt to bullshit me for once in your life?â I sighed.
âWeâre heading where we need to be,â he shrugged.
Can I just?
âAnd where is that?â I asked in annoyance.
âHere,â he said as the car stopped.
âWhy here?â I asked as we stepped out.
âYou ask too many damn questions Ambrosi,â he complained.
âThatâs because you donât want to answer any of my damn questions Joel,â I replied as he led me to the back. My eyes widened when I saw all the people there.
âWeâre here because youâre getting married! Are you happy now?â he asked in annoyance.
Happy? I was freaking ecstatic!

âCaro, youâd better make sure she disappears. Iâm feeling super possessive and jealous right now and I donât like it one bit. I trust you, but I donât trust her. Please get rid of her,â Aretha said to me. Last I checked, Celine doesnât speak Italian, so we were safe.
âYouâre jealous and possessive?â I asked amusedly.
âWho wouldâve guessed right?â she sighed.
âOk, I promise Iâll get rid of her. Can I call you later?â I asked.
âI would like that,â she replied.
âAlright! I love you,â I told her.
âBye,â she said before hanging up.

âI have a problem and I need it removed from my room,â I told Sven.
âIâll be right there,â he said before hanging up the phone.
