"I thought you were sleeping!" I scream at him, turn around, and quickly put on the shirt.
"I woke up," he respond casually. "Nice bra."
I let out a frustrating breath and roll my eyes at his comment before turning to face him.
"Since you're fine now, I'm going home." I walk pass him.
He grab her arm, stopping me, "You do care." I look at him, surprised at his remark.
"Don't misread this situation. You were drunk so I couldn't really leave you there by yourself," I said, stating the fact.
"Right." He nods his head in understanding and let me go.
I walk out of his room, through the hall, and down the stairs. The sudden sound of the door opening and closing surprises me and I quickly turn around and walk back up the stairs.
"Can I help you?" A man's voice asked behind me, stopping me in my track.
Crap.
I slowly turn around to face him. My face is heating up by the second and my heart is pounding.
A man in his late 40s, who I assume is Corbin's dad, stood at the end of the stairs and behind him is Corbin's stepmom and little sister, whom I recognize from the pictures in the living room. They all have the same expression on their faces, confusion.
Flustered, I said, "I'm a friend of Corbin. I was just leaving." I watch as his parents look me up and down. That's when I remember I'm wearing Corbin's shirt. I really hope they didn't think I slept with their son.
"A friend of Corbin?" Mrs. Foxx asked. "He rarely brings his friends home. Why don't you stay and have dinner with us?"
Rarely?
I smile sheepishly, "It's fine. I have to go anyway."
"Please stay. I would love to get to know you," his mom's voice is laced with hope.
"Are you Corbin's girlfriend?" Corbin's little sister ask bluntly out of the blue, shocking me.
I laugh nervously and open my mouth to deny it but I stopped when a pair of arms sneak around my waist and pull me close. I look beside me to see Corbin grinning at me.
"She is," Corbin reply casually, looking at his parents. I fake laugh nervously and move further from him.
"No. We're not. He's just joking around." I smile nervously.
"I invited your friend to stay over for dinner," Mrs. Foxx changes the topic and I mentally thank her for it. "We ordered Chinese takeout before coming home." She smiles and hold up the bags in her hand before walking towards the kitchen.
"Excuse me." Mr. Foxx makes his way up the stairs and I get out of his way.
"I'm Sofia, by the way." Corbin's sister makes her way up the stairs too.
"I'm Hazel," I smile at her as she walk pass me and up the stairs.
I turn to Corbin after they're gone to see him looking at me with an amused smirk, "Don't tell me I won already."
"Never. I was going to leave but your parents came home and convinced me to stay for dinner," I explained. He hasn't proven anything to me yet, so why should I let him win?
I notice his eyes lowering down to my chest so I quickly cover it with my arms, remembering that he saw me in my bra. "Nice shirt but I liked it better off," he smirk to finish off his perverted comment before walking down the stairs. I sneer before following him down.
"You threw up all over me. I didn't want to smell like puke. Aren't you still drunk?" I ask.
"I threw up and just soaked my face with cold water. I'm all better now." He flash me a mocking smile.
"Dinner's ready!" Mrs. Foxx calls out from the kitchen. I follow Corbin to the kitchen.
Mrs. Foxx is already done setting the plates on the table and she has already put the Chinese food into the plates.
"Take a seat. Don't be shy," she tells me. I smile in return.
"I'm Hazel, by the way," I tell her before sitting down on the chair.
"That's a pretty name," she said. I watch as Mr. Foxx and Sofia make their way into the kitchen and to the dining table.
"Thank you."
Sofia sits on the seat in front of me and Mr. Foxx sits at the head of the table. Mrs. Foxx sits in between Sofia and Mr. Foxx. I watch as Corbin walk towards me and sit next to me.
I feel awkward. I shouldn't have gotten caught by the stairs.
"Is there something wrong with the food?" Mrs. Foxx asks, noticing that my plate is empty.
I glance around and notice that everyone has already started eating. "Oh no. Everything's fine." I smile and put some sweet and sour chicken on my plate then some fried rice.
"So tell me about yourself, Hazel," Mr. Foxx asks.
"There's not much to tell," I reply nervously. Hoping he won't asks a lot of questions. I really hate awkward family dinners.
"Yeah. Her life is boring," Corbin butt in. I didn't mind. At least I'm not talking. This is my first time meeting his parents and now I'm eating with their whole family, this is nerve wrecking.
"Why?" Sofia asked, her voice filled with curiosity as she chew on a piece of broccoli.
"Because she lives by the rule," Corbin answer.
"That's no way to live life. Right, Cory?" Sofia said, looking at her brother for agreement.
"Rules are there for a reason. You should always follow the rules," Mr. Foxx said, gaining my attention.
"You're one to talk," Corbin retort immediately. I swear, I can see Mr. Foxx glaring at him for a second there.
Silence fills the air so I quietly stuff a piece of chicken in my mouth and chew slowly. Thankfully, Mrs. Foxx change the subject, "So you two must be good friends. Corbin has never brought home any of his friends."
"We're not friends." Corbin say casually, "I'm trying to court her." His direct response shock me and I start coughing. I grab my cup of water and drink it.
I turn to Corbin to see him smirking at me.
"I think Hazel's a nice girl," Mrs. Foxx comment.
"Nice is an understatement," Corbin respond. I fake a smile at Corbin and stuff my mouth with rice and chicken to prevent me from swearing at him.
"So will you go out with Cory?" Sofia asks innocently which took me by surprise and I start choking on my food and cough for the second time tonight. I grab my water and gulp it down.
Mrs. Foxx let out a nervous laugh at Sofia's question. "Ignore her. She's still young."
"It's just a question," Sofia said sarcastically. I put down my water and smile at her, not knowing what else to say.
"I'll like to know the answer too," Corbin remark with a smug look. Sofia definitely got her attitude from Corbin. What has he been teaching her?
I chuckle nervously while I stomp on Corbin's feet under the table. I hear a small groan escape his mouth before he turn to me with a glare. I flash him a fake smile and stuff my mouth with more food to prevent myself from going insane.
Dinners with the Foxx family, I never thought this would happen.
