"What?" Enoch mumbled through his pancakes. "Nothing." Jayden said before continuing to laugh. Eventually he got a tissue and wiped it on his boyfriend's face. He rubbed Enoch's belly making him moan in satisfaction. Luckily the restaurant was empty and nobody was watching. So Enoch finished his pancakes and tried to get up. He struggled but couldn't get out of the booth. "A little help?" He asked somewhat embarrassed. Jayden tugged and tugged until eventually he got out. They put some cash on the table and left. They walked around the mall together, buying things occasionally and holding hands. As they walked through the car park Jayden decided to say something. "I want, kids." Jayden whispered. "What did you say? Almost sounded like you want kids." Enoch chuckled. "I do." Jayden said louder this time. "Wait, you can't be serious?" Enoch said. "What do you mean?" Jayden said stopping. "Kids are annoying, permanent, expensive, painful, grubby, messy, need attention and 85% of divorces have something to do with the children! How can you actually want one of those?" Enoch said. "I can't believe you don't want kids, don't you want to raise someone, sculpt a good person into the world who can make even more of a difference? Don't you want that?" Jayden asked. "No, not really. I never saw the appeal behind them. I remember sometimes as a kid, I would stare at babies until they cried for fun." Enoch said. "Is there anyway I can convince you?" Jayden asked. "Look, the only reason for babies is to continue the genetic line right? So what's the point if they aren't your child, and even if they were I still don't like children." Enoch said. "Can you atleast try? After we get married can you try raising a kid? Look if you really hate them...it's cruel but, we can send them back to the orphanage." Jayden sighed. "Ok, I'll try, and if I turn out liking it it'll be our kid, heck we might even get more." Enoch agreed begrudgingly. They got into the car and went home to prepare for people coming over that afternoon. Alyce had sent the emails about it to everyone. He couldn't believe Enoch.
A FEW HOURS LATER:
The house was clean, they had prepared food and we're just waiting for people to arrive. The first ones were Jacob and Alyce. They waved and chatted with Jayden as Enoch felt nervous, knowing who would eventually be coming. Then Mike showed up and talked with Enoch a little helping him get his mind of it all. Later the rest of the Boyces showed up and crowded the living room as they commented about the decor and that Jayden needed more meat on his bones, and other stuff like that. Then Tom finnally showed up and a few minutes later... "Hello, Mr and Mrs O'Connor, lovely to have you here." Jayden said as they walked in. Everyone went silent and turned around to look at them. Then Enoch heard hushed whispers like, "are those actually the O'connors?" And "I can't believe little bro is dating an O'Connor." They walked past everyone making them shuffle out of the way. "Enoch." His mother said in a disgusted tone. "Mother." Enoch replied in a similar tone. "Still out of shape." She replied. "Still got no sales." Enoch said. "Let's take this outside." His father said walking away with his mother following him into the backyard. The younger children played around while everyone else sat at the table. "So what are your thoughts on your son dating my son?" Jayden's dad asked casually to Enoch's mother. "I find it disgusting, a waste of a child and time. Only one of my kids will continue the genetic line, so you can see my distain towards it." His mother said. Enoch thought back to the conversation in the car park. "The point of children is to carry on the genetic line, so why adopt one?" Enoch immediately realised how heartless that sounded and he held Jayden's hand under the table. "Well, I don't mind it to much, I would like my son to get with a girl but as long as he's happy. He is one of those... what do you call them bisexies?" Jayden's dad said in his southern accent. "Bisexual." Jayden tuned in. "Yeah, a bisexual." Jayden's dad continued. "Bisexual, gay, lesbian, pan sexual, aroace. It doesn't matter what you call it queer is queer." His mother said. "Wait who is Jayden dating?" Jayden's grandma asked Mike. "Him, grannie." Mike replied pointing at Enoch. "Mike, it's rude to point!" 'Grannie' said. They all ate and talked and Enoch made sure not to pig out in front of Jayden's parents, because he was going to marry their son after all. Enoch stood up with a glass and spoon and clinked it. All the O'connors turned their heads immediately  but the Boyces didn't notice. Jayden stood up and let out out a loud cough. Everybody turned and looked at Enoch as Jayden sat back down. "Everyone, I have an announcement to make. A lot of us come from different places, have different views and different reasons to be here. But the reason me and Jayden wanted you here is because... we are, getting married." Enoch said. There were mixed reactions to say the least. Some laughed and then realised he was serious. Some gasped, others were excited and then of course, his parents had a scowl on their faces.
