I reached Coach Hendrixâs office crackling with rage. I stormed in, desperate to get away from the prying eyes and comments.
âI swear Coach Hendrix, if one more person says something to me about âbaggingâ Ellery Iâm going to punch them.â
He was sitting at his desk and looked amused by my anger.
âWell, Xander, you have to understand the pull a Faerie has on humanity. Itâs going to be an issue for you both for the rest of your lives.â
I threw my backpack down in frustration. âTheyâre all being so crass though. Itâs pissing me off.â
âIt will all die down soon. Come on, you can handle it.â
I shook my head. âI hope no one has been saying anything to her, because itâs insane.â
âMainly Iâve heard âwhatâs so special about him?â from guys and âthank god sheâs finally off limitsâ from girls. But no one has said anything directly to me.â She walked into the room and put her bag down.
âEllery.â I pulled her into a hug that progressed into a kiss that got deeper and deeper.
Coach Hendrix cleared his throat. âI am still in the room.â
We broke our kiss, but I didnât let her go. Instead, I wrapped my arms around her waist. âSorry.â
âThereâs no need to apologize. I remember it well, which is why Ellery is here. Just for today. Consider it an early wedding present.â He started to walk out of the office but stopped and turned back to us. âNo sex you two.â
He pointed at me when he said that and Ellery bit her lip to keep from laughing. âI can tolerate and forgive a lot of things under the circumstances, but not that. Iâll be back ten minutes before the bell rings.â
âThank you, Coach Hendrix,â Ellery said as she snuggled closer to me. Coach Hendrix came over and patted her on the arm.
âI trust youâll both be fully functional at practice today?â
âOf course we will,â I answered for both of us. He chuckled and was almost out the door when I called out to him.
âWait a second, Coach.â
âWhat is it, Xander?â he asked; visibly puzzled.
âThank you, for everything.â I felt my cheeks heat up. I owed this man so much. If he hadnât suggested I come here I wouldnât have met Ellery when I did. That thought made me want to weep.
He smiled. âWell, Iâve always had a soft spot for you, and when I figured out that Elleryâs Alexander was you, I wanted to help. You just made it easier by throwing that punk out the window. In case no one told you this, weâre all proud of you doing that.â
I waved the last part of his comment away. Itâs what any decent person would have done. Well, maybe not the whole defenestration portion, but intervening. Fortunately, the law saw it that way too, and I hadn't been charged with assault.
âHow long have you known?â I asked; simultaneously amused and embarrassed.
Ellery hid her face in my shirt and he laughed. âI put it together when you were about ten, but Iâve known about âAlexanderâ since you were five, right Ellery? Thatâs when you told me you were going to marry a fox named Alexander wasnât it?â
âYes,â came her muffled reply.
âOh, Iâve got to hear this story,â I chuckled.
He elaborated for my benefit. âIt was at Jones and Sabrinaâs wedding and Ellery was eating a piece of cake. I told her my son was about her age and I thought theyâd be good friends. Her face lit up and she asked âis his name Alexander?.â When I said âno his name is Matthewâ she wrinkled her nose at me.
âThen she said âIâm waiting for Alexander. Heâs a fox and Iâm going to marry him.â Then she looked at my wife who was pregnant and said âsheâs having a girl.â Iâve been smitten ever since. Ten minutes before the bell,â he reminded us and left, pulling the door shut behind him.
âThat is the cutest story I have ever heard,â I said as I slid my hands down to cup her ass.
âItâs embarrassing. I blabbed about you to anyone who would listen.â
âAw, thatâs adorable.â
âEmbarrassing.â
âAdorable,â I insisted. âIs that when you met Matt?â
She shook her head. âNo, we didnât meet until I was ten and had some more self control, of both my powers and my mouth.â
âPersonally, I love the control youâve got over your mouth and tongue.â I bent and kissed her.
She grinned at me when I released her lips. âI love demonstrating it for you, but we canât in here. Heâll smell it.â
âUgh, good point. What shall we do with ourselves then?â I asked as I rubbed her arms.
âWill you hold me the way you did on the bus?â
âOf course, Princess, but Iâve got to warn you, it turned me on something fierce.â
âYou think I couldnât feel your erection pressing into my rib cage and then my belly?â
âI thought you were too out of it,â I admitted, my cheeks turning pink.
âNope, I felt every amazing inch.â I snorted at that comment and she continued. âIf you want the truth, it helped with the problem.â
âAnd what problem would that have been?â
âOverwhelmed by the emotions of others and missing my Other to help anchor me.â
I kissed her forehead and sank into the small sofa in the office. âIâm sorry I didnât figure it out sooner. Come snuggle up then, Ellery.â She crawled into my lap and rested her head on my chest. She inhaled deeply and closed her eyes.
âThank you, Alexander.â
âIâve got you, Princess ,â I said as I stroked her hair. âIâve got you.â
