Viktor POV

She slept soundly in my arms as I replayed the events of last night.. over and over. I marked her.. I couldn’t believe it.

I’ve checked her mark several times yet it stays in the place I’ve put it.. I had already been told she was my mate.. but to see my mark stay on her made it more real for me.

All of the guilt washed over me like I was being waterboarded. It was almost smothering me.. but with her in my arms.. I could breathe.

I didn’t sleep at all last night.. I was too afraid that I’d wake up and her mark would be gone. But it never vanished. She’s mine.. she’s really my mate.

She g*****d as she moved, making my heart race fast in my chest. Will she remember? Surely.. she will. She didn’t seem fazed by it.. except for when it made her scream in pleasure.. f**k, Viktor. Stop or you’ll get hard again.

I tried my best not to outright tell her she was my mate. I knew she would never believe me.. but once she sees her mark.. everything will fall into place. Just as the seer said.

“Why are you awake?” She asked me, half asleep. Her eyes fluttered open and she looked at me.

“I couldn’t sleep,” I said truthfully.

“Did you watch me sleep?” She asked.

“Yes,” I said. She let out a tired giggle.

“Can I have some bacon?” She asked. I didn’t hesitate to mind link Beatrice.

“Beatrice, will you deliver some bacon to my chambers?” I asked.

“Of course. I’ll be there shortly.” She replied. I cut the link and looked at Violette.

I want to try something..

“Bacon will be here soon.” I opened a mind link with Violette in hopes that she would hear it.

“Thank you.” She said softly. It took her a few moments, but she jumped out of bed and looked at me with wide eyes.

“Did you just.. mind link me?” She asked. A big toothy grin appeared on my face.

“I did,” I said.

“How did you..” her hand moved to her neck.

“I don’t get it..” she said. She ran over to the mirror on my wall and gasped.

“You.. marked me.. last night..” she said.

“Yes, my love. I did.” I said. She turned around and stared at me.

“But.. how.. what about my mate?” She asked.

“What.. did you want his mark instead?” I asked. She shook her head frantically as she walked over to me.

“I wanted you.. it’s always been you.” She said.

“Well.. I guess in that case.. it’s good that I’m your mate.” I said. She furrowed her brows.

“No..” she said as she shook her head.

“Yep,” I said with a smile.

“And that’s my pup you’re carrying in your belly,” I said. Her hands fell to her stomach.

“You’re my mate?” She asked. The guilt hit me like a cannon once again.

“I didn’t know..” I said sadly.

“My pains.. that was you.” She said.

“Violette.. I can’t even begin to tell you how sorry I am..” I said. She backed away from me.

“You’re my mate? I heard you correctly.. right?” She made sure one last time.

“Yes, Violette. Are we going to do this all day or..” I stopped when she tackled me on the bed and pinned my wrists with her hands. I see my Lycan strength is already working on her.

“You’re an a*****e.” She growled.

“I’m your a*****e..” I said as I bit my l*p nervously.

“All this time. And it was you.” She said.

“You’re awful, Viktor.” She said as tears threatened to spill from her beautiful eyes.

“I didn’t know.. but I regret it with everything inside me. I will never touch another woman. Never. I’m all yours.” I said.

“I should leave you right now.” She growled. A wave of hurt and pain hit me like a ton of bricks.

Her angry features changed and she leaned into my lips. She melted against me and m****d in my mouth.. goddess, I love this woman to death.

“If you ever.. ever hurt me again. I will kill you.” She growled. I could tell she was very serious. She was not going to let me hurt her again. But she didn’t have to worry, because I would never.. especially now that I know she’s my mate.

“I give you my full permission,” I said. I rolled us over and I ended up on top.

“I love you,” I said softly. I took her lips back and held onto her hands tightly. There was a knock on the door and I quickly moved off.

“Cover up,” I said. She did as I asked and covered herself with the blanket. I walked to my dresser and grabbed some boxers and slid them on, then made my way to the door.

When I opened it, Beatrice stood there with a plate full of bacon and a soft smile.

“Let her eat, and then you may check her,” I said.

“Did you mark her?” She asked. I nodded.

“So is it true?” She asked as she handed me the plate.

“She’s truly my mate,” I said. She jumped around excitedly and clasped her hands together.

“I can’t believe it.. I really can’t believe it.” She said.

“I know.. I stayed up all night to make sure it was real.” I said. She gave me a sad look.. she knows how difficult it can be to not find your mate.. she went years without hers until one day he just suddenly appeared.

“I will leave you.. mind link me when I can check on her and the pup.” She said. I nodded my head as she skipped away.

“Congratulations, my King,” Loren said with a smile.

“Thank you, Loren,” I replied. I shut the door and walked back to my.. beautiful mate.

“Did you hear that?” I asked. She nodded her head with a smile.

“Time to feed you and the pup,” I said. She sat up and hovered over the plate piled high with bacon.

“Beatrice really piled on that bacon, didn’t she?” She asked with a giggle.

“Well of course.. you’re eating for two,” I said.

“So.. you have a lot of explaining to do. How did you find out? Why didn’t you tell me yesterday?” She asked. I let out a sigh.

I explained to her that Sylvia.. told me everything. That the night I was freed, and she saw me.. is when the bond snapped into place. She was clearly upset that Sylvia had broken her promise.. but she didn’t linger on it for too long.

“I also just wanted to make it special.. and last night.. and seeing your face this morning was definitely special. Those memories will always be my favorite.” I said. I picked up the last piece of bacon and fed it to her. When she had finished she pulled me in for a k**s.

“Thank you.” She said.

“For what?” I asked.

“For making these memories with me.” She said softly.
