Sylvia POV
âHelp her! Oh my goddess, help her! I cried as I held Violette in my arms. She was seizing.. foam coming out of her mouth as her eyes rolled to the back of her head.
âWhat happened!â Beatrice cried as she ran to us. Lillian followed quickly behind and kneeled to help.
âShe said she was having pains.. saying that her mate was being unfaithful again.. she fell and just started seizing!â I cried.
âWhy would her mate be unfaithful if he mated her? It doesnât make sense, Beatrice. Something is wrong.â Lillian said frantically.
They pulled her to her side and held her until she stopped seizing. She lay there not moving and I was afraid she was.. dead.
âIs she alive?â I asked. Beatrice listened closely.
âHer heart is barely beating..â she said. Tears fell from her eyes. I could hardly even hear her heartbeat.. or the pups.
Beatriceâs eyes glazed over and I knew she was mind-linking someone.
âLoren is on his way.â She said as her eyes went back to normal.
âWhat about the king? Sheâs dying!â I cried.
âHe wonât want to see her.â She said softly. She held Violetteâs head and stroked her hair.
âIt doesnât make any sense..â Lillian said as she searched her brain for answers.
Loren ran in and kneeled down next to us.
âWhatâs happened? Is she alive?â His voice was shaky and he smelled of fear.
âBarely..â Beatrice cried.
âI need to go,â I said as I stood up.
âWhere are you going? Violette needs you!â Lillian cried.
â I know.. which is why I have to go,â I said. I quickly ran from the dungeon and made my way to the Kingâs chambers.
I can fix this..
I can..
I have to..
I ran as fast as I could to the kingâs chambers, and I passed by the woman they call Minerva on the way.
She looked upset.. hurt.. her clothes were misplaced and her hair was out of place..
It makes sense.. itâs the only thing..
Violette told me not to tell a soul.. but what if it saves her? I have to.. please forgive me Violette.. but I have to.
I knocked on the door and heard a slam against it.
âGO AWAY.â He growled. I jumped back, my heart racing frantically in my chest..
Please donât kill me..
I grabbed the handle and slowly twisted it and poked my head in. He was sitting on the floor, and his chambers reeked of alcohol..
Moon Goddess.. please protect me. For I fear I may be making a huge mistake.
âDo none of you listen? I said go away!â He growled as he tried to stand. He stumbled towards me angrily, but he couldnât even reach me because he was so drunk. He was left panting and falling over.
âMy king.. youâve made a huge mistake,â I said.
âNo! It is you and that whore slave.. that has made the mistake!â He growled.
âSheâs not a whore slave. Sheâs your mate.â I said. He looked at me and growled, a devilish look in his eyes.
âShe is not!â He said.
âShe is!â I growled. He lunged at me but it only took a couple of steps to the side for him to miss me and fall to the floor.
âTrust in her. Have faith..â the words popped into my head and he looked up at me.
âWhat did you just say?â He asked.
âI donât know..â I said. Violette said that I said the same thing to her.
âPlease, leave.. I cannot bear it, Sylvia.â As he spoke his voice cracked. I ran to grab a cold, wet rag and ran back to him.
âPlease listen.. she is your mate..â I said softly as I wiped his forehead with the rag.
âBeatrice said.. itâs.. not possible.. do not lie to me.â He said.
âIm not lying. Just listen to me. You never wouldâve gotten away if it wasnât for her,â I said. He grabbed my wrist and looked me dead in the eyes.
âWhat do you mean?â He asked.
The door opened and I heard footsteps behind me.
âSylvia, what are you doing?â Beatrice asked.
âSheâs his mate,â I said.
âSheâs not! Now stop before you get yourself killed!â Beatrice rushed towards me and tried to pull me away.
âNo.. what did you mean?â Viktor pulled my attention back to him.
âShe made me promise to never tell.. but if it will save her.. i have to,â I said as tears ran down my cheeks.
âSylvia, you promised her..â Lillian said once everything began to click.
âI know! I canât keep it in.. sheâs dying! And itâs all his fault!â I growled as I looked at Viktor.
âShe was the one who sent the guards..â I said.
âWhat?â He asked.. he looked at me with pleading eyes.
âShe didnât know it was you.. that her father was torturing.. but she knew whoever it was, did not deserve the pain her father was inflicting..â I said.
He didnât say a word as he looked at me.
âShe heard your screams.. she had nightmares of them daily.. she tried to stop her father but he only beat her for sneaking around..â
âWhat? Is this true?â Beatrice asked. I looked back at Lillian who nodded her head.
âShe didnât know it was you.. but she did know she had to help. She sent guards to free you.. guards that werenât loyal to her Father, but to her. For being such a kind, loving, caring person.. they were her guards.â I said. Viktor shook his head as he looked at the ground.
âNo..â he said softly.
âShe didnât know it was you.. until she saw you from her room window running away from the castle.. she said she felt a pull to you.. your screams.. and when she saw you she knew exactly who you were.. but she didnât realize you were her mate. Because of your curse..â I said.
âNo.. this.. why are you saying this?â He asked me.
âHer pains only came when you were with Minerva. I donât know how I never noticed..â Loren stepped in.
âBut.. no..â Viktorâs voice broke as he shook his head. He didnât want to believe heâd been so awful to his mate.
âSo, Violette saw Viktor the night of his escape?â Beatrice asked.
âYes. One month before you came to kill her Father, and took her as your slave.â I said.
âWhat..â Viktor couldnât comprehend what I was saying.
âYou were just with Minerva.. I saw her leave. Violette was having a seizure. Sheâs dying because of you, her mate.. had been unfaithful..â I said. His eyes filled with tears.
âNo.. youâre wrong..â he said.
âIt makes sense, Viktor. If she saw you, the bond wouldâve snapped into place for her and everything wouldâve started. Her heat..â Beatrice said.
âYouâre killing her.. and your pup,â I said. He looked up at me and sobbed.
âTrust in her.. have faith.. Iâve been looking in all the wrong places.. thatâs what the seer said..â he said. He was shaking.. an emotional, drunken mess.
âWhat have I done?â Viktor asked. His eyes widened.
âWhere is she?â He asked.
âWhere is my mate?â He asked.
âSheâs in the dungeon with Enzo,â Beatrice said.
He made a run for the door as I dropped my face into my hands and sobbed.
âSheâll never forgive me..â I cried. Lillian ran up to me and wrapped her hands around me.
âShe will. Youâve saved her.. now, he can fix this.â She cried.
âI.. I canât believe it.â Beatrice said.
