Violette POV
âGood morning, Violette.â Beatrice woke me up. I looked around the room and to my dismay, Master had left just like heâd said.
âGood morning.. Ms. Beatrice.â I said with a small smile. I was upset but I wouldnât let her know that.
âToday will be a fun day, indeed. The kingdom is having its annual light show. You will not be working in the castle, but instead helping with decorations outside.â She in a cheerful tone.
âLight show?â I asked. Iâd never heard of that before.
âOh.. sometimes I forget youâre not from here. Every year on this day we do a light show. People from the towns come in and picnic in the dark while fireworks get shot off.â She said. That brought a true smile to my face.
âIâve never seen fireworks,â I said.
âYou will love it, then.â She clapped her hands together excitedly.
âThe king arranged for this gown. Youâre to be bathed, and your hair done, then we will eat before time to start the decorations.â She said. I quickly planted my feet on the ground.
âHow are your pains?â She asked.
âI feel nothing. They feel healed, already.â I said. She lifted my dress to take a quick peek.
âThey are! How wonderful.â She said. The door opened and in walked a few maids with buckets of hot water.
âAlright now get started. We donât have much time.â She said. I untied the string between my breasts and pulled off the dress. As I walked to the bath, I smelled a hint of citrus and mint.
I climbed in and the maids began to get to work on scrubbing me clean.
After my hair and body were washed, they helped me out and dried me off.
âThis gown will look amazing on you!â One of the maids said. It was a lilac-colored silk gown. It had little bows down the side and a bigger one on the back above my bottom.
âWow! Indeed it does,â Beatrice said with a smile.
They dried my hair as quickly as they could and brushed it out. They did a single braid, with a single matching lilac bow at the end.
âYou are very beautiful. I wish I looked half as lovely.â One of them said. I could feel my face turn bright red as I blushed.
âYou are the one whoâs beautiful. You all are.â I said. They gave me smiles before they left the room.
âWe must go, now,â Beatrice said as she rushed to the door. We quickly walked down the hall.. and as we passed Masters room, my eyes lingered for a moment.
âYou will see him soon, dear,â Beatrice said. I looked at her and furrowed my brows.
âI..I wasnât-â she cut me off with a shake of her head.
âIt is fine, dear. I wonât tell.â She said with a smirk. She wrapped her arm in mine as we continued to breakfast.
â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢â¢
âI absolutely love that color on you, princess,â Sylvia said. Lillian agreed with a bright smile and nod.
âThank you, Sylvia,â I said. We are outside placing picnic blankets on the soft grass, with small baskets on each one.
âLillian.. are you alright? You seem to be in your head today.â I said. She nodded.
âIâm fine.. Cedric.. he asked me to move in with him.â She said. A wave of sadness flowed through me.. but at the same time I was excited for her.
âYouâll be moving from the castle?â I asked.
âHe says the King has put together a special room for us.â She said.
âOh thatâs wonderful, Lillian.. isnât it?â I asked.
âI.. Iâm afraid.â She said. I grabbed her hands in mine.
âNow why on earth would you ever be afraid?â I asked incredulously. Goddess, this girl and her worries.
âI donât want you to think that Iâm.. not going to be around, or that..â she trailed off.
âThat what Lillian? That youâll be living with the second in command? That youâll be a higher-ranking lady than me? I do not care. You deserve it.â I said.
âI only think that because.. well I think he plans to propose sometime soon.â She said. I covered my mouth and gasped.
âReally?â I asked. She nodded her head excitedly.
âHe was asking me all these questions about the perfect night.. and it just seems like thatâs what heâs going to do.â She said. I smiled brightly.
âHe is a very lucky man,â I said.
âAre you sure you wonât be upset?â She asked. I shook my head.
âI would never be upset to see your happiness, Lillian. This is the greatest news!â I said. We continued talking for a while until I saw Master.
He was staring at me with a look in his eye.. I felt like I was being called to him.. my body pulling itself to him like a magnet.
He waved me over and I left the girls.
âCedric has something he wants to ask you.â He said. He looked me up and down and a small smile appeared on his face.
âIf that is alright with you..â I said. He gave a nod. Not even a moment later Cedric walked over.
âViolette.. I have a huge question and I need Your honest opinion.â Cedric said. I looked at master once again for confirmation and he nodded.
âI will give it,â I said. He gave me a toothy grin as he pulled out a little black box fit for a ring.
âDo you think sheâll like this? I plan to ask for her hand tonight during the light show.â He said. I looked at the ring and smiled. Lillian was right.
Itâs a dainty ring with a two pearls swirled around each other. It is quite the ring.. and she will absolutely adore it.
âMmm.. I donât know..â I joked. His smile began to fade.
âIâm only joking. How did you know pearls were her favorite?â I asked. Master let out a small cough to conceal his laughter.
âI had a dream about it.â He said.
âIt is perfect, Cedric. But please know she will care for your words more than a piece of jewelry. And If you hurt her, I will rip you in half.â I said with a smile.
âYouâre still doing the joke thing.. right?â he asked. I shook my head but kept my smile.
âYou did a wonderful job on the ring, and no doubt, she will say yes in a heartbeat,â I said.
âThank you.â He replied. He quickly took off, shoving the box back into his pocket. I stood beside Master as I watched him embrace Lillian and give her a gentle k**s. Her excitement to be near him was adorable.
âYouâre quite funny,â Master said. I looked up at him and smiled.
âYou think so?â I asked. He nodded his head and smiled brightly. Goddess, that is one hell of a sight.
âYou look.. Well dressed today.â He said. My stomach felt warm at his compliment.
âThank you.. master.â I said.
âYou are very much welcome, Violette. Now, Iâd stand here and chat all day if I had the opportunity, but it seems I have something important to take care of before the night begins. Iâll see you later?â He asked. I tried my best to hide my shock at his sudden.. enthusiasm to see me.
âOf course.â I said as I blushed a tiny bit.
He turned away and as he walked off, I thought Iâd felt his fingers brush the back of my hand. I watched him walk away, but before he disappeared into the castle he peered back at me.
