I dreaded going downstairs and knew what was going to happen. He was waiting for me, making coffee as I slowly went. "Well, well, Anna.. I've expected much better from you. Sneaking out? Not my type of amusement, kid." I looked down, ashamed by his comment on my attempt to sneak away.

"I-It was only for a few hours, Nate," I stuttered, trembling. "Oh, really? Hmm, let me think: I've told you countless times not to run from me, did I not?" He asked, settling down in his chair. I went to the cabinet and took out CinaToast cereal and a bowl. Nate eyed me as I sat down, eating. "You gonna get milk?" He asked, his brow slightly raised. I scoffed, "No. I do it separately," "Anyways, that's enough stalling, Anna"

"W-What do you mean? Nate, I-" He held up a hand, silencing me. "Not another word, Anna. I'm done with you and your excuses. I will not tolerate this kind of behavior in this house, am I clear??" He demanded, getting up. "Now, about last night.." I cringed as he said that, making me shiver. "I expected a lot better from you, Anna but unfortunately, I saw another you hidden underneath; a rebel. I noticed that as soon as you had 'accidentally' contacted your parents."

I had my mouth opened, swallowing what was left of the cereal. He had gotten his keys and went to where I was. Leaning down, he then kissed my cheek before whispering into my ear: "I'll be back at around noon, my dearest sweet love." Standing up, he grabbed his keys and turned around saying, "You are not going to school today,"

I stood up, exclaiming, "Nate, why? Why won't you let me go?" He took a step towards me, his eyes flaring. "I don't trust you, Anna. You run off every time I leave. I have your phone in my room, which is locked. I've also installed security cameras all over the house, in case you escape. If I see you BREAKING and ENTERING my room, I will make your life a living nightmare, got that?" I nodded, muttering quietly, "Yes, sir."

"Good, good. Now, remember: no phone, no school, no attempts, ok?" He said, opening the door, walking out. I was alone and emptied the left-overs, unable to eat. I then went into the hall upstairs and glanced at his door. Do I go in? My mind raced with thoughts as my body forced me to go.

I hadn't noticed a security camera lingering in the corner as I picked the lock. The doorknob clicked and I was in. I began searching through the contents, turning everything upside down. I had finally found it underneath a stack of papers on the dresser and went to my room. Once inside, I noticed that I had a lot of notifications. Most were messages, asking if I was ok. I then made my way into contacts, searching for my mom's number.

I stared at the device then gently placed it back, hoping I wouldn't get caught. It was eight am as I went back downstairs to watch the t.v, endlessly flipping through the channels while dying of boredom.

It was eleven forty-five am as I began to try again. The phone rang once. Nothing. Twice, nothing. On the third try, the phone was picked up. "A-Angie?" my mom said, all soft and slow. "Ma.." I responded, glancing at the door. Oh shit.. I finally noticed it. "Mija?" "Yea, mom?" She asked where I was at, concerned. I somehow knew I was on speaker, due to the t.v being on in the background. I then told her that I was 'ok', saying that my kidnapper was 'nice' to me.

"Angie, vas a estar bien, ok? Vas a estar bien.." Mom said. I nodded, still glancing at the door, expecting Nate to show up. I went over to the living room, still chatting on the phone, unaware that he pulled up. The door to the truck closed and I told Mom, "Tengo que ir.. él volvio.." I hung up before she could say anything else, and barely had time to shove the phone down under the sofa.

"Hiding something, now are we, Anna?" He said, suspiciously lingering over my shoulder. My eyes tensed as Nate dug his hand near the spot where my phone was. "Hmm... You better not hide something from me.. especially that phone of yours." He caught a piece of my bangs in his hand, running it over. I quickly flipped his hand away, scoffing. "Oh come, don't be like that." He said, sitting down next to me.

Leaning in, he stroked my cheek with a smirk on his face. I quickly closed my eyes to avoid looking at him. "Look at me, Anna." When I didn't obey his command, he forced me to look. "I SAID, LOOK AT ME!! YOU CAN'T KEEP YOUR EYES CLOSED FOREVER, ANNA!!"  He was right and I had no choice but to reopen them again. "Good job, kid." was all he told me, getting up, continuing "I will go and check the cameras."

My insides tingled in fear as he got the computer. Sitting down next to me, he opened it up, revealing cameras all over the place. Rewinding them, his eyes squinted as he saw me going in his master room. "Anna, explain yourself, now!!" he yelled, turning to face me. My face turned pale as I tried to explain. "I-I had to get s-s-something." "And that was... wait a minute- don't tell me you took your phone with you, did you?!"

"N-No, sir. I-I didn't." I told him, stuttering. His eyes seem to sense my fear and immediately he slapped me. "Liar!! Where is your phone?! TAKE IT OUT, NOW!!"
