(Anna)
I was rushing back to the house. Shit, I'm going to be late!! This was the third time I was running from school. If I wasn't home in fifteen minutes, I knew what the consequences were. It was eleven-thirty am as I turned a corner, desperate to get home. As I stepped onto the porch, I frantically fidget with the key, muttering to myself. "Come on, come on.." Once in, I ran to my room and placed my backpack between the drawers and my bed. Then I laid down, exhausted from running so much. I looked at "The Room" and shuddered. I don't want to be in there again.. I will escape tonight...
After a minute of catching my breath, I went downstairs. The door opened the moment I sat down in the living room. My breath hitched as he walked in. "Hey," he uttered, smiling a bit. "Hi. How was your day?" I asked, looking up at him as sweat dripped from my face, threatening to expose me. "It was okay; trained with the dogs for a bit."
"Really?"
"Yea, I work at PetSmart. Awesome, right?" Nate went into the living room and sat down. "Well, then, I'll check the computer and see if you were here. If not, you know exactly what happens." Grabbing the computer and opening it, Nate rewound the camera tapes. Fear took over me and I couldn't move.
Seeing my door close behind me in the cameras, Nate glared at me. "Where did you go?" he demanded, gripping his hand around my upper arm. Pain shot through as I squirmed, struggling to get away. "Answer the question, Anna: where did you go?!" He yelled, his eyes literally red.
"I didn't go anywhere, Nate!!" I shot back. My eyes widened as he slapped me, making the room feel dizzy. "DON'T LIE TO ME!!!" He screeched as he grabbed a fistful of my hair, hauling me up. Nate then grabbed my broken wrist and pulled me to my room. He gave me another tug and I was now in my room. "Get in," He ordered, pointing at The Room. I stood in my spot, shaking and rubbing my wrist. When I didn't move, he dragged me in it. "No!!" I cried out, trying to escape.
"I'm sorry, Anna!! But this is the only way that I know you will be safe!!" He said, locking the door.
