Chapter 5: Part 3

"So, you just assumed she was your girlfriend because you kissed her." Bowie was laughing, tears were now streaming down his eyes.

''No, because they kissed frequently. Did you not hear the man.'' Ace mocked Tolan while gasping for air during his laughs. Ace has been Tolan's best friend since middle school.

Lia spoke sarcastically and said "How romantic .... Please explain your thought process. So, you can redeem yourself.''

I gave him a side hug and kissed his cheek. ''Look I really liked Bree back, then and I still do. So much I took her out on dates every day. I stopped talking to other girls the moment, I realized I liked her. It got to the point where I wanted, to be with her every day. I thought it was enough to make me her boyfriend."

Then Tolan turned to me and Smirked ''I wish you would have told me and not have ignored me for 2 days.'' he accused. I replied ''Well I thought you were using me. There was, nothing I would explain to a user." I justified my choices.

''Not going to lie how you, approached me and asked me out. Took me to your most sentimental park and asked me to be your girlfriend was sweet.'' He leaned in and kissed me in front of our friends.

I started to hear whistles and boys hooting. I looked around to see the cafeteria looking at us . Lia threw napkins at us screaming, and laughing 'get a room'. I suddenly got shy and buried my face in my man's jersey. Everyone was laughing including  Lia.

I smiled to myself because I know she is going to rub this in my  face later. My head was still in Tolan's jersey. I was waiting for the noise to die down. Then I heard aggressive whispers.

I look up and see Ace and Analia start bickering about the best football team. Tolan interrupts them ''Look I don't know why you guys are arguing, we all know it's the Dallas Cowboys, my dad and I watch all the games. Babe back me up.''

Analia shot her head to look at me she was holding back a smile'' You better not side with him, if you still want a best friend at the end of this conversation.'' I answered '' Look I don't know nothing, about football you guys . You could right now make up names and I wouldn't know, but my brother supports the Pittsburgh Steelers, so I support them by default.''  I ended the pointless argument right there.

Bowie chimed in  ''Shut up all of you, we all know the Chicago Bears, are it.''  We all looked at each other confused. Ace spoke first, ''Who? ''

Bowie got red in the face'' how dare you ,'' he continued to explained why they are the greatest. ''Sorry man it still rings no bells.'' Ace passively consoled.

''Sorry guys I am late .''Blake moaned as he plummeted between Bowie and Ace . '' What happened ''Tolan  questioned. ''Miss Hipster, made me clean her class. Because I was talking to this  girl sitting next to me.''

Ace asked ''So she left you two alone .'' Ace had a knowing  expression on his face . ''You have pink lip stick on your face .'' Bowie added. Blake rapidly tried to  wipe his lips. The other three boys snickered.

''Anyways ,so you two boys ready for the game?'' Lia was referring to Tolan and Ace. They were the only two juniors playing in the senior school football team.

''Yeah I am so hyped , that coach gave us a chance'' Ace said ''Tolan works out in the mornings at three, I state." Ace continued.

''So Bree you wearing his jersey. Tolan's jersey.'' To be honest  I didn't even think about it. My brother. Is a QB. On the team so I just blurted ''Yes."  I at Ace's question.

''Speaking about gym's, my  instructor asked me to meet him today. What time is our  anniversary  date?'' I asked Tolan. ''But it is Thursday you don't have classes on Thursday. I had planned it to  start at 3.'' He explained while he was shifting, uncomfortably in his seat. ''Why so early, can't you move it to 7.''

'' I don't know , I will check.'' He scratched, his eyebrow.

Blake interrupted  ''Anniversary? How long was I gone?'' Lia chimed in and said ''A long time, apparently''

''Are you mad? '' I asked Tolan as he pulls out his phone.'' No I should have checked with you.'' He kissed me on the lips and pulled back. ''So anyway, how is kick boxing going?''  Tolan questioned, guessing he was trying to change the topic.

''It's getting more intense, my instructor recorded some of my work out sessions. To see how I can improve.'' He nodded his head.

Suddenly Ace pulled a face and nodded towards the door ,and asked Tolan  ''Speaking  of relationships.'' I swear all color drained, from his face. Me and Lia just shared a look of confusion.

There stood the same girl I saw, her face looked shocked. I turned to look at Tolan, and I swear all the color drained from his face.

''UM..... babe I   will call you around  4. I must check, if I can move the plans.'' He started to pack up his lunch .'' As a matter of fact, let me call them now. The sooner the better, I must go.'' He gave me a kiss on the cheek and escaped the cafeteria.

''Well,  I guess bye then.'' I said unsurely. The bell rang everybody got up. Bowie started to pack up his stuff wide eyed and said  "Bye."  than dashed off without saying another word.  "What was that about?" Lia said.

"I really don't know they all dashed like roaches." I told her. "Well Bree I need to dash like a roach too. Cause my class is on the left wing of the building." Lia said I leaned in for a hug. So did she dashed down the hall.

I saw Ace walking down the hall.  I rushed past the people to get to him. I tapped Ace on the  shoulder so he could turn around. Then I peered up at him

'' What was that about." I asked him.

He just took a long sip of his protein shake. Held it in his hand. He made direct eye contact and chuckled.  ''That my dear, is your competition."

Turned around and walked off.

Finally school was done. I walked home alone. So I can clearly  think. As soon as I approach my house. I kept getting angrier.

I walked up to my door and was digging in my purse for keys, annoyed, "My competition." I mocked. How dare he .....

I stopped When I heard sounds coming from the side of our house. I slowly walk towards the sound. I position myself in a fighting stance. I tied up my hair so, nothing can get in my line of sight. I stood there because of the sound.

'Cracking Cracking'

Getting louder. As soon as I saw a figure. My foot took off like a plane on the runway. Then I  did a roundabout kick. The person fell on to the ground, my eyes widened in shock.
