Alyssa
Two Years Later
Itâs been two years since we brought down my father. The death toll was high, and the humans were still trying to understand why the eruptions stopped so quickly. And itâs better if it stays that way. âRauru, are you and your father ready to go?â
Oh, I forgot to tell you guys, I have a son. Rauru Adam Callahan, named after the first King of Varrfarrinn. Like his father, Rauru is a white dragon.
âRelax, honey, weâre good to go. You took amazing,â Vincent said, then kissed me.
âVincent, we donât have time for this, do we?â I said.
âWhatâs wrong with being late, Rauru is in the living room playing on my phone,â Vincent pecked my cheek.
âOh no, keep it in your pants for a few hours. I still havenât recovered from Rauruâs birth. I still remember his christening, and I wonder why only white dragons get that blessing; I canât believe that you insisted on it,â
âI still canât believe that you would deny our childâs ancestral blessing, that christening was his moral compass for good; who knows what evils lurk after we defeated your father,â Vincent said. âCome on, letâs get Rauru,â
We took a portal to Alexandriaâs house in Africa. Vincent and I left the castle to travel the world and check on the kingdoms. âHey, guys. Hello Rauru,â Alexandria said.
âHi, Aunt Alex,â Rauru smiled.
âItâs about time you guys showed up, having trouble getting my nephew ready?â Alexandria joked.
âYeah, Rauru was having trouble getting that buttoned shirt on,â I said. âSo where are they?â
Alexandria guided us to the nursery, where Alexandriaâs husband held their child.
âHoney, there here,â Alex said.
âHey, come in,â Killian said. Alexandria got her second chance at love. Her fated mate. His name is Killian Callahan. He took the Callahan name when he found out he was mated to Alexandria.
âOh my god! Heâs beautiful!â I said in awe.
âCongratulation Alex, Iâm happy for you,â Vincent said.
âI canât believe you are married and have a baby now. Rauru now has a baby cousin,â
âI know, time flies,â Killian said while looking at my nephew.
âSo howâs life treating you here in Africa?â Vincent asked.
âHonestly, itâs so damn hot,â Alexandria groaned.
âLangange honey,â Killan gave Alex a look.
âWhat? He canât understand what Iâm saying, but Iâll be more careful,â Alex said.
âWant to hold him, Alyssa?â Killian asked me.
âOf course,â Killian gave me his son to hold in my arm.
âAny word on Audrey?â Alexandria asked Vincent.
âAudrey and Jacob have their hands full, and theyâve finally finished all the reconstruction efforts in Varrfarrinn. Thereâll be a big party next weekend to celebrate,â Vincent said.
âGive Audrey my best. Weâd love to come, but Killian and I are drowning in work helping Megan run the African kingdom. Our parents made it look easy to run a kingdom,â Alex laughed.
âThatâs an understatment,â I said. âSo have you decided on a name yet?â
âWe have. Meet Isidoro Zayne Callahan. I wouldâve named Isabella if I had a girl, but close enough,â Alex said.
âWant to hold your nephew, Vincent?â I asked Vincent.
âYeah,â Vincent smiled.
âIâm happy for you guys,â I smiled.
âSo you guys have been treveling?â Alex said.
âYep, itâs complicated traveling and raising a child. Weâve been traveling to every kingdom, checking up on everybody. Everything is running smoothy, they finished fixing all the damages from the war and are handling everything well,â I explained.
âThatâs good to know,â Alexandria said, taking Isadoro from Vincentâs arms. âWe did a good job on this one,â
âYou guys must be starving, and dinner is almost ready,â Killian said.
âIâll help you finish it,â I said, walking with Killian to the kitchen.
Two Days Later
We landed in a forest in Germany, and I got off Vincentâs back with Rauru in my arms, laughing and spreading his arms. âAgain, Daddy. Mommy, make daddy fly again,â Rauru laughed as he clapped his hands. I can hear Vincent chuckle softly. Vincent shifted back to his human form.
âVincent, where are we?â I asked.
âI have a surprise for you,â Vincent said. âCome with me,â
Vincent led Rauru and me to a large cabin in the woods. It was beautiful. âWhat is this place?â I asked.
âIt took me two years to track him down, but I found him. Caitlin managed to find the final piece that led me to him,â Vincent said.
âWho are you talking about?â I said.
âGo and find out, Iâll stay out here with Rauru,â Vincent smiled as he lifted our son in his arms, and he quickly fell asleep.
I could feel my heartbeat as I nervously walked up to the cabin. I looked behind me a few times, and Vincent stood by the trees with Rauru, not moving an inch. What could Vincent be talking about? Who was he looking for? I got to the wooden door, and I knocked. I didnât have to wait long until it opened. Inside stood a man, probably in his late sixties or early seventies.
âHello,â I said.
âHello, Alyssa,â said the man.
âYou know my name?â I tilted my name.
âIndeed I do, Vincent has been in contect with me. Would you like to come in?â He asked.
I looked back at Vincent, seeing him give me a reassuring nod. âOf course,â I entered the cabin, and inside, it was beautiful; I wondered how he got the money to afford all this stuff. âI have to say that I donât know who you are,â I said.
âThatâs understandable, but I knew you as soon as I saw you. After all, you look just like your mother,â He said.
âMy mother? Youâre my grandfather?!â I gasped and took a few steps back.
âThatâs me,â My grandfather smiled.
âWhy are you out here in the middle of nowhere?â I asked him.
âItâs a long story. When I failed to find your mother, I felt ashamed. I blamed myself for her running away. So, I moved out and cut ties with most of the outside world. I placed myself in exile as itâs what I thought I deserved,â Grandpa said.
âMy mom didnât run because you failed her; she ran to keep you safe. My mom didnât want to put you in danger,â I said.
âYeah, Vincent explained most of this. I never knew she was pregnant with you. You must think Iâm a lousy person,â Grandpa said.
âYou are nothing of the sort,â I said as I hugged him.
Three Days Later, Varrfarrinn
We stayed for two days with my grandfather, Franklin. We caught up on most of the time we missed. We promised to be in Varrfarrinn for a party, so we had to say goodbye. Franklin was shocked to meet his great-grandson, and he loved him. Rauru was glad to meet him, too. I promised to keep in touch with him.
âI hope Rauru is not sad we had to leave so soon,â Vincent said with worry.
âNot at all; Rauru will be fine, and that wonât be the last time heâll see him. I would have loved to stay longer, but we promised Audrey and Jacob weâd be here,â I said.
âWell, all we can do is make sure that Rauru grows up safe, strong, and healthy,â Vincent said, and I kissed him. âWhat was that for?â
âFor being my amazing boyfriend and father to our child,â I wrapped my arms around his neck.
âIn that case, Iâll have to surprise you more often,â Vincent joked.
âLook who finally decided to show up,â Audrey said.
âAuntie Audrey!â Rauru screamed as he ran to her. Audrey lifted him.
âHey, sport, how is my favorite nephew?â Audrey blew raspberries on his face, and he laughed.
âSorry weâre late,â Vincent said.
Audrey put Rauru down, and he walked back behind me. âItâs good to see you brother. Jacob and I were curious if youâd make it,â Audrey smiled.
âWe wouldnât miss it for the world. I love your hair, you grew it out,â I said.
âYeah, cutting it last year was a huge mistake. What are you going to wear tonight?â Audrey asked me.
âI think I have something in my bag that I can use,â I shrugged.
âAs Queen of Varrfarrinn, you arenât wearing anything from that bag. Follow me!â Audrey grabbed my arm and dragged me with her.
âIâll stay and watch Rauru,â Vincent said.
âHave fun Mommy,â Rauru waved.
Vincent
I lifted my son in my arms as we began to walk to my old friend Jacob. âRuaru, wanna see Uncle Jacob,â
âYes, daddy. Uncle Jacob is cool,â Rauru smiled.
I walked to Jacobâs study, and I tapped on his shoulder. âHello Jacob,â I said.
âVincent?â Jacob placed some paper back on the desk. âWhen did you arrive?â
âWe just landed, and Audrey was quick to sweep Alyssa away. So I thought you and I could talk, and Rauru could see you again,â I said.
âItâs good to see you again, Rauru. Has he shown any magical potential yet?â Jacob asked.
âIt will come; heâs like me after all. So how have you been?â I asked while setting Rauru down on his feet.
âWeâve been good. Did you see Alexandria and Killian?â Jacob asked.
âYeah, they sent their regards but couldnât make it,â I smiled.
âIâm an uncle again, and Rauru has a cousin,â Jacob said. âWe should get to the party; itâs starting soon. Iâll have some of the maids watch Rauru for you,â
Alyssa told me that Audrey was not truthful when she said that a few people wanted to honor her. âIs this too much for you, dear?â
âSeems people canât seem to stop surprising me,â Alyssa said.
âItâs our job,â I winked.
Later that evening, after the announcement that Audrey hosted, we danced in the grand ballroom. âYou look stunning tonight, have I told you that?â I said.
âA thousand times,â Alyssa laughed.
âMay I intruppt you guys?â Annabeth asked.
âAnnabeth!? Itâs so good to see you,â Alyssa hugged Annabeth tightly.
âYou to. Anything new with you two?â Annabeth asked us.
âRaising Rauru, traveling, enjoying the sights of the world. Same old stuff,â I said.
âLikewise, oh, and I have news; Iâm found my second chance mate, remember Caitlin? Weâre fated!â Annabeth said.
âHey babe, there you are. Oh, Hi, Alyssa and Vincent,â Caitlin said
âYou and Caitlin are mates? Iâm happy for you two,â Alyssa smiled.
âIâm going to steal my mate for a minute. Weâll talk later,â I said.
âHave fun, see you later,â Caitlin and Annabeth said.
âHey, where are you taking me this time,â Alyssa said.
âJust follow me,â I said as I led her to the balcony where we first accepted our bond as fated mates. I made Alyssa close her eyes. âOkay, open them,â
I saw the look on her face when she saw the balcony was covered with roses. The roses were wrapped around each column and hung from the ceiling above. âVincent, this is wonderful! Youâve outdone yourself,â
I got down on one knee and pulled out a ring. Then Alyssa turned around. âOh my god!â
âAlyssa, I love you with all my heart and I canât imagine living my life without you. You gave me our greatest creation, our beloved Rauru. Iâve been trying to find the right time to ask so, Alyssa, will you marry me? Will you be my wife?â I said.
âYes, I will marry you!â Alyssa said while jumping on me.
âI acutually got a little surprise for you as well,â Alyssa said.
âIs that so?â I grinned.
âYep, are you ready to be a father again?â Alyssa smiled as she placed her hands on her stomach.
âWait, are you?â I smiled widely.
âYep, Iâm pregnant!â Alyssa said.
