Charlotte Lane focused on her acting, while Kevin Clark stayed on the film set playing with the children.
For quite a while, the Clark Family had difficulty adapting to Kevinâs patience with the two children.
When the children were younger and more tiring, Kevin Clark took the majority of the care.
Everyone in the Clark Family knew it was because Kevin didnât want Charlotte to get tired.
Having borne twins for ten months was already very exhausting. Since he couldnât take her place in pregnancy, he took almost full responsibility for their care after they were born.
However, now that the children were past their most troublesome stage, the Clark family found it curious that Kevinâs patience with them remained unchanged.
After all⦠this was not the impression they had of Kevin.
All the Clark family members were slowly adapting, except for Christopher Clark who found it quite normal.
When he was young, Kevin was always kind to him.
Of course, his patience with Christopher was mostly to please his mother.
But he knew that Kevin genuinely liked him.
His father was a very sentimental man.
âWhatâs the plan in the next few days?â As Kevin played with the two little ones, he asked Christopher.
Christopher came back to his senses and looked at Kevin, âWeâll go to the Mountain Sea Continent in a week.â
âIs Second Brother Davis also going?â
âYes, weâll go together.â Christopher said.
When Finn Clark first came back, Kevin almost confined him to Clark Manor. He even had someone follow him when he went out, afraid he might run away again.
It was not until Edward Kirsten and the M Continent Laboratory were resolved that he regained his freedom.
Later, most of the matters concerning Dark Radiance in the Mountain Sea Continent were handed over to Finn.
Kevin Clark focused on the Research Institute and Easton Group, while Hugo Clark concentrated on managing their family business.
âHugoâ¦â
âHmm?â
Kevin looked down as he rolled up Noah Clarkâs sleeves, and said, âChoose something you enjoy and want to do, and focus on doing it well.â
Christopherâs eyelashes quivered slightly.
âEverything Charlotte and I have done, besides our necessary responsibilities, has been driven by our love and passion.â Kevin spoke slowly, âYou donât need to carry all the burdens.â
After a moment of silence, Christopher smiled and said, âDad, I understand.â
âWhen I suggested that you take over Easton Group. If you didnât like it, you could have refused,â Kevin said.
âI donât dislike it,â Christopher answered, âBut⦠please leave it to my younger siblings.â
âWhatâs for me?â Ethan Clark asked.
âEaston Group,â Christopher replied.
Ethan showed no interest and went back to playing with his toys, âI donât want that. Itâs not fun and itâs tiring.â
Christopher laughed lightly.
Kevin said, âBeing excellent at one thing is enough; no need to be too strict with yourself.â
âDad, I know my limits,â Christopher replied.
Kevin Clark nodded without saying anything else.
âDaddy, my hair has come loose,â Noah was drawing with her hand covered in paint. She accidentally got it on Kevinâs shirt sleeve.
A small white fingerprint was left on the black shirt, âDaddy, Iâm sorry.â
Kevin Clark glanced down at the shirt his wife had designed for himâ¦
âItâs okay,â Seeing the apologetic look on her face, he pinched her little face gently and said warmly, âTurn around, let me fix your hair.â
Noah obediently turned her head to let him fix her hair.
Their peaceful scene unfolded while not far away, an actor dressed in opera costumes and makeup was looking over at them.
âIs that⦠Kevin Clark?â The woman asked her assistant.
âYes,â the assistant replied.
âI never thought that the real person would be even more handsome than the photos online,â The woman remarked, âHe also seems gentler than the pictures.â
âOnline they say Third Master is very gentle to his wife,â the assistant said.
âCharlotte Lane?â
âYes.â
The woman smiled indifferently, âSheâs indeed beautiful and capable. But⦠no matter how beautiful someone is, seeing the same face every day can become boring. And from what Iâve learned, sheâs quite strong-willed. Not many men like a domineering wife.â
The assistant glanced at her without responding.
âI heard his mother was a famous opera performer.â The woman laughed, âLetâs go and say hello.â
The assistant followed her.
âThird Master.â
When Kevin heard someone calling him, he was wiping Ethanâs nose.
Ethan suddenly sneezed three times, even causing tears to well up in his eyes.
Kevin raised his head, looking at the person in front of him wearing opera makeup.
He had heard there would be a few Peking opera scenes today and the stage had been set up.
Most of the scenes were from âJune Snowâ, and the woman was dressed as Dou E.
When preparing for this movie, Director Morris had told Kevin there would be Peking Opera actors from the Theatre Garden to guide them.
The womanâs hand, hanging by her side, suddenly tightened as she met Kevin Clarkâs gaze.
Despite the gentle demeanor just now, his eyes seemed to pierce through to peopleâs hearts, making them shudder.
âThird Master, hello, my name is Leah Joyce,â The woman greeted with a smile, âIâm an actor in the same drama crew as Brook Sister.â
Kevin Clark glanced at her and then shifted his gaze, asking, âAny issues?â
âWe have a scene related to opera later, and I want to ask for Third Masterâs guidance,â Leah said softly.
Hugo Clark looked at Kevin Clark with a mischievous grin, as if enjoying the show.
Ethan Clark and Noah Clark looked at Kevin Clark, then at Leah, exchanged glances, and returned to their own concerns.
âDirector Morris has invited professional teachers,â said Kevin Clark.
âI see,â Leah gave a polite smile.
âAnything else?â Kevin Clark asked again.
Leah shook her head, âThird Master, Iâm sorry to have bothered you.â
She turned to leave, but caught sight of Charlotte Lane walking towards them. so she didnât move and stayed where she was.
Kevin Clark was seated and couldnât see Charlotte until a moment after Leah had, thanks to Leah blocking his view.
He saw her and immediately stood up, walking towards Charlotte, âLittle girl, whatâs wrong?â
As Charlotte approached, she glanced at Leah and then said to Kevin, âThere was a problem with the props, we have to wait a while.â
âItâs a good time to rest,â said Kevin Clark.
Charlotte nodded and then looked at Leah.
Taking a step forward, Leah smiled, âBrook Sister, Iâm Leah Joyce. We have a scene together later.â
Charlotte nodded, âDo you know each other?â
Before Kevin could say anything, Leah jumped in, âI heard that Third Master has a deep understanding of Peking opera, so I wanted to ask him for guidance.â
âDirector Morris has invited a Peking opera actor to instruct,â Charlotte said, her voice faint, âHe should have told you.â
Director Morris was very strict, and Leah should have been well aware of the detailed training before scenes like this were filmed.
Leahâs face flushed with embarrassment, which even her thick opera makeup couldnât hide. She laughed and said, âI thought the instructor wasnât on set today. Afraid that there might be problems later, I wanted to ask Third Master for guidance.â
Charlotte looked at her, and Leah lowered her gaze, unable to meet her indifferent yet proud eyes.
After a few seconds, Charlotte turned to Kevin and asked, âDoes Third Master have time?â
Leah looked up at Kevin expectantly.
But Kevin didnât look at her. His eyes were only on Charlotte, and he softly said, âNo, Iâm quite busy.â
Charlotte nodded, âMy husband is quite busy.â
A joyful smile played upon Kevin Clarkâs thin, crimson lips.
Hugo Clark also laughed. Showing their affection publicly in front of others, his parents were quite cunning.
Leah clenched her hand by her side and smiled, âSorry for the disturbance.â
After saying that, she left.
Charlotte sat down on a chair, not paying any attention to Leah. Over the years, many people had approached Kevin, but she had grown used to it.
She glanced at teary-eyed Ethan Clark, âWhatâs the matter?â
Ethan sniffed.
âHe seems to be catching a cold,â Kevin Clark reached out to touch Ethanâs little head, âHeâs sneezed a few times.â
âTake them home tomorrow when you leave,â Charlotte suggested.
âAlright,â Kevin agreed.
Noah Clark listened to their conversation, and when they finished talking, she hesitated before approaching Charlotte.
Charlotte looked at her indecisive expression, âDo you have something to say?â
Noah nodded, hesitating a little, âMom, the Cheongsam.â
The Cheongsam, which had been borrowed for a day, had still not been returned.
At the mention of âCheongsam,â Charlotteâs face changed slightly, and the sound of fabric tearing from the previous night echoed in her ears.
After a brief pause, Charlotte grasped Noahâs shoulders and turned her to face Kevin Clark, speaking softly, âGo ask your dad.â
Hugo Clark sensed the atmosphere change slightly.
Noah looked at her father with innocent eyes.
As Kevin faced his daughter, he felt a surge of guilt. He glanced at Charlotte and then smiled, âDad will have Uncle Allen make you an identical one that you can wear right now. Is that okay?â
âHuh?â Noahâs little face was bewildered.
âYou have to wait till you grow up to wear that one, but a new one can be worn right away,â said Kevin, trying to please his child.
Charlotte pretended not to hear.
âAn identical one?â
âYes, identical,â Kevin confirmed.
âAlright,â Noah smiled, âThank you, Dad.â
âYouâre welcome,â Kevin replied.
Hugo, who had been listening, shook his head, thinking to himself, children are so easy to fool.
