Book 5: Chapter 47:2: Chen Hengâs Second Surprise, Part 2
âEveryone, I have something to do. Iâll be upstairs.â Luo Li took two steps back, held up her skirt, and curtsied to everyone present, then instantly disappeared.
This is really weird. Why is Luo Li being soâ¦polite? Mo Qingtong wondered after Luo Liâs courteous exit.
Stroking his chin, Chen Heng stared at the spot where Luo Li had been. An odd thought sparked in his mind. I might have fallen for Luo Liâs acting. It seems impossible for Luo Li to cry.
Heâd seen many things with the Absolute Precognition. Luo Li could be utterly ruthless in accomplishing her objectives when carrying out missions for the Special Affairs Bureau. Furthermore, her acting skills were honed to perfection, earning the approval of the Special Affairs Bureauâs specially hired master of disguise (master scam artist).
Luo Li could easily play the victim; it was as simple as eating or drinking to her. But given the sudden attack heâd suffered, Chen Heng found it a little hard to think as clearly as usual.
He didnât worry about it, though. After all, he wasnât the one at a loss.
Strangely, he didnât feel like anyone suffered a loss in the recent events.
However, the words Luo Li whispered into his ear had truly stunned him. They were so in character for Luo Li, and the heated emotions they conveyed left Chen Heng feeling a bit stifled.
Chen Heng was not afraid of these fiery emotions, just a tad uneasy, perturbed by the lack of his memory from before the time reversal. Since his ancestor confirmed it was a world reset, that meant he had indeed experienced those events with Luo Li. He figured he should find a way to regain his lost memories sometime.
However, he had to admit he was quite happy that someone as adorable and beautiful as Luo Li liked him. Who wouldnât be? Men, right?
âAhem! Ahem! Qingtong, the remaining association invitation letters should arrive after I return from this mission. Iâll invite you all to the association then,â Chen Heng declared, turning to the crowd in the living room. He noticed Mo Qingtongâs tearful eyes and felt a twinge of a headache.
Mo Qingtongâs expression was like someone had taken a bite out of the cabbage sheâd been nurturing for a decade. To pacify her, he pulled out the matter of the association invitation letters. Besides, since Luo Li knew heâd been lying, there was no real difference between sending the invitation letters sooner or later.
Luo Li had made her feelings clear, so he had to reciprocate.
âYou promised. No take-backs.â Mo Qingtong, whose eyes had been tearing up, suddenly beamed at Chen Heng.
âSirin and I are going on the mission now.â
âHold on, Ah Heng. I want to come, too. Iâm your Servant, and since you caught me with that Poké Ball, I should be able to join you. After all, weâre inseparable now.â Jeanne dâArc, whoâd been enjoying the show from the sofa with Fafnir in her arms, stood up just as Chen Heng was about to leave with Sirin.
âYouâre coming, Jeanne dâArc?â Chen Heng was taken aback. Jeanne dâArc usually liked to stay home. She hadnât even been keen on their vacation. He didnât expect her to want to join him on this mission.
âWhatâs wrong? Canât I? As your pet, I should be able to help you somehow.â Jeanne dâArc emphasized the word âpet.â
âOf course you can. After all, that world can be considered your original world, even if itâs a parallel one. Going back home for a visit wouldnât be bad, right? Fafnir, are you coming?â
âMe? Never mindâ¦of course, Iâm going.â Initially, Fafnir didnât want to go. But as she was about to refuse, Jeanne dâArc gave her a pinch. Although it didnât hurt, she got the message.
If Jeanne dâArc wanted to go, then Fafnir, who was summoned to accompany her, had to go as well.
Besides, Fafnir missed the time when she was powerful in the Type-Moon world.
In the Type-Moon world, Fafnir was a formidable, evil dragon, feared by all; babies would cry at the mention of her name. However, sheâd turned into a lazy pet who loved to eat after coming to Chen Hengâs house. Moreover, she liked this life.
Even if Iâthe evil dragon Fafnirâspend my days eating chips and drinking cola, I am still an evil dragon who remembers her mission.
âAwooo, awooo, awoooââ Evil dragon roar!
Although Fafnir saw herself as roaring ferociously, to Chen Heng and the others, it seemed like sheâd suddenly gone mad and started barking like a dog.
After all, she was too small now. It would be considered an evil dragon roar only if sheâd regained her original size. Now, it could only be described as a hungry dragon roar.
[TL Note: The words for âevilâ and âhungryâ in Chinese sound the same but are different characters. This here is a wordplay based on that.]
âFafnir, whatâs wrong? Why are you barking like a dog all of a sudden?â
âHuh? Jeanne dâArc, this is an evil dragon roar! What do you mean, âbarking like a dogâ?â
âUhâ¦evil dragon roar?â
âYes, is there a problem?â
âI have no issues if it makes you happy, but Iâm not sure the others would agree.â Jeanne dâArc pointed to Chen Heng and the others.
Fafnir followed the direction Jeanne dâArcâs finger pointed and saw Chen Heng staring at her strangely. âWhat are you looking at? Be careful, or Iâll bite you.â
âHmm? Fafnir, it seems youâve forgotten who your master is, enjoying your carefree time. Want some training? I wonât even use my hands and feet.â Chen Heng cracked his knuckles menacingly while looking at Fafnir.
âIâm sorry; I really am. I wonât do it again.â Fafnir, the mighty evil dragon, quickly surrendered. She knew she absolutely, positively couldnât defeat Chen Heng. Not use your hands and feet? Donât think I donât know youâll use abilities.
Even if Fafnir could beat Chen Heng, she wouldnât dare to fight.
Sheâd seen the Chen Clanâs ancestor a few days ago. That personâno, he couldnât even be considered a person but a higher-level beingâexerted a pressure that remained fresh in her memory.
