Chapter 52: Extra chapter: The young master and the monk

The Crown Prince (Taegi AU)Words: 11566

This tale takes place an enjoyably long time ago...

There used to once live a young master who had been spoiled since birth. He was blessed with every luxurious thing this world had to offer and because of such a privileged life since birth, it need not even be said that he was attracted to such wealthy and beautiful things from a really early age onwards.

He was attracted to everything beautiful and there was almost nothing in this world that his wealthy parents couldn't afford for him. He was an only child and hence it was clear that he was spoiled by both of his parents in the same manner.

They considered him as the future of their last name. He was the shining apple of their eye and they were blinded with love. They were too blinded to notice that they were teaching him all the wrong things.

The boy was blessed with a beautiful name called 'Taehyung' and this name was quite famous throughout the country both because of his lineage and because of his own doings.

He was a young master that loved to cause trouble in the cities. He would tease almost anyone he found interesting and finish all the food from his favorite shop. At times, he would find something really beautiful and want to possess it. This beautiful thing could be anything ranging from a hairpin to even a butterfly. If the thing that had caught his interest was something already owned by another, he would try to trick them using money. If they refused to give it up, he would use more money, and eventually, they would be forced to give it up to Taehyung.

Because of his upbringing, he had a crappy personality where he felt entitled to everything beautiful in this world and he felt that there was nothing he couldn't possess.

For a young master to have such a spoiled thinking was nothing new and in fact, it was quite common.

Taehyung had a few friends as well and they were also from rich backgrounds making them all alike peas in a pot.

He was never too close with any of his friends and it could even be said that the only reason why he kept them around was because of his mother who didn't want him to be alone forever.

On one fine day, one of his friends showed up wearing a necklace with a fang on it. A fang of a wild bear that he had slain. He looked to be quite proud of his achievement and hence, he flaunted it around, bragging every now and then about how he easily killed a wild bear.

Taehyung was far from happy to hear his friend brag about something Taehyung considered to be trivial. He got annoyed by it and ended up having an argument with his friend.

In the heat of the stupid argument, his friend challenged him to go to the eastern mountains and come back after he had achieved the same feat. Taehyung who was too proud of himself would certainly not back down to such a challenge and hence, with no guards or friends around to protect him or accompany him, he took on this challenge and headed for the eastern mountains.

He had never actually explored out of the city and hence this was his first time. He had no idea what he might see there and he had zero preparations for the future problems he would have to face in the mountain.

He somehow survived the first day but by the second day, he was almost dying due to exhaustion. He had no food and no water. The fact that he hadn't met any wild animals yet was quite lucky in itself.

With his will and stubbornness being the only thing that kept his feet moving, he continued on the quest he had begun.

After a while, he felt a drop of sweat trailing down his forehead and getting in his eye making his eye sting.

"Ah!" He yelped as he immediately closed his eye and continued walking with his eyes half-closed.

"It's so hot~" He whined as he glanced at the glaring sun ablaze in the sky.

He suddenly heard a ruffling sound coming from somewhere behind him and when he turned to look at the source, he was even more scared to see that it was a moving bush.

Fear took control over his body and he stumbled back, falling on his butt before completely fainting due to the fear; thinking that it was probably a wild animal that was trying to hunt him down.

After he had already passed out, a cute little white rabbit jumped out of the bushes and sniffed around Taehyung before climbing up to his chest and looking at his face curiously.

In the very next second, the rabbit was picked up by a pair of pale veiny hands with long fingers.

"Aiya~ Who is this now?" The man sighed, his voice exceptionally deep and smooth, sounding rather soothing. He frowned as he crouched down with his one hand holding onto the rabbit and his other hand stroking the rabbit's head softly, "Why do these people keep coming up here? Do they have nothing better to do?"

He sighed as he put the rabbit down and the rabbit immediately ran away, hiding inside the bushes once again.

The man took a good look at Taehyung's face before tapping his red cheeks and calling out to him, "Young man, can you hear me?"

Taehyung naturally gave no response to him.

"Did he have a heat stroke?" The man mumbled as he thought to himself, "Such people should be banned from coming up to the mountains. Do they have no idea how dangerous this place can be?"

He sighed as he slowly picked Taehyung up and threw him over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.

The very next morning, Taehyung opened his eyes after a full night of uncomfortable sleep and the first thing his eyes laid on after waking up was the shabby ceiling.

He felt as if he was inside a house and at the same time, he also felt as if he wasn't.

He was sleeping on a super uncomfortable bed that seemed to be itching his back and the ceiling of the room made it look as if this was just a wooden shed made for horses or something.

He sat up straight as his eyes slowly adjusted to the surroundings and he noticed that the reason why his bed was super uncomfortable was because it wasn't a bed. It was just a few stacks of hay that was shaped to act as a bed.

"What the..." He muttered in confusion as he tried to remember how he got here.

"Are you awake?" He suddenly heard an unfamiliar voice and immediately snapped his head in the direction.

Right in front of him, there sat a man dressed in all white with a straw hat on top of his head. He was stirring the pot that was kept on top of a fire. and the only thing Taehyung could see was his back that was facing him.

"Who the hell are you?" Taehyung asked rudely, not even trying to hide his true personality.

"I am but a person experiencing life on this earth, every day I try to find the answer to that question you asked. There are more than an infinite number of answers I can give to your question. Which one are you wanting to hear?"

Taehyung's face cringed up as he heard this response, "I just asked for your name."

"Oh," The man muttered before adding, "I am called Min Yoongi."

"And what are you doing here?" Taehyung questioned again.

Yoongi chuckled as he asked, "Shouldn't you give me your name as well, lone traveler?"

"Not before you answer my question," Taehyung insisted.

"Well then, I am cooking you breakfast. I have answered your question, isn't it time for you to answer mine now?" Yoongi asked without even bothering to turn around.

"Taehyung. Young master Kim Taehyung."

Yoongi chuckled as he heard Taehyung, "Why add the first half? You are no young master in these mountains. This is a place that sees no titles. Here, you and I have the same status. We breathe the same air and we eat the same food."

Taehyung stood up with a frown as he snapped, "What nonsense are you spouting?!"

"Nonsense?" Yoongi laughed at Taehyung and Taehyung felt as if he was being mocked, "Taehyung, how old are you?"

"No matter how old I am, it has nothing to do with you, does it?" Taehyung retorted.

"Of course, it has nothing to do with me, but I'm afraid the same can't be said for you."

"What do you mean?"

"If you keep on acting as if you're still a spoiled Young Master from the city, I'm afraid my humble home would have no food for you," Yoongi responded as he stood up from his place with the pot clutched in his hands with the use of nothing more than some folded piece of clothing to keep the heat of the pot away from his hands.

"Are you threatening me?" Taehyung got annoyed as he stepped closer to the man with the hopes of beating him up and showing him exactly what his lowly place was.

He clenched his fist and swung it as Yoongi turned around but as soon as his eyes laid on the man's face, his will to beat the man died within a single second, however, his shock couldn't stop his fist fast enough.

Yoongi frowned lightly as he tilted his head and avoided Taehyung's fist before lifting the pot higher and letting it touch Taehyung's arm.

"Ah!" Taehyung yelped immediately as he felt the burning sensation on his arm and immediately retreated his hand back in pain, clutching onto it tightly with his left hand.

"Taehyung, I think it is you who's trying to threaten me here," Yoongi commented without any sense of pity for the man.

Taehyung gritted his teeth and almost wanted to curse at the man standing in front of him, but when he saw the man's face, he couldn't do anything. He became a helpless dog with his tail tucked in between his legs.

Yoongi's soft light pink lips curled up in a smile as he looked at the small burn on Taehyung's arm that was slowly turning red, "If you behave well, I can help you get that treated."

Taehyung opened his mouth to say something but his tongue couldn't form any words for a long time as he simply stood there, clutching onto his burnt hand and looking at Yoongi as if he was the most fascinating thing Taehyung had ever laid his eyes upon.

"Since you now know how hot the pot is, I would like it if you could move aside," Yoongi looked into Taehyung's eyes and Taehyung immediately found himself getting lost in those two black orbs that seemed to be sparkling with all the stars in the night sky.

This time, his feet moved on their own and he gave way to the man.

Yoongi lightly bowed his head as he thanked the man before moving forward and keeping the pot down on the table that was beside the bed of haystacks.

He went back to the kitchen area and picked out two bowls and two spoons before wiping them and walking up to the table, placing the bowl down on either side of the table.

He gently put the spoon next to the bowl before taking out the soup inside the pot and pouring it into the two bowls kept on the table, all the while, being stared at by Taehyung who wasn't even trying to hide the fact that he was staring at Yoongi.

Yoongi sat down and looked up at Taehyung before breaking out into a warm smile as he gestured towards the opposite side of the table, "Why don't we sit down and have breakfast now, Taehyung?"

"Beautiful..." Taehyung couldn't help but mutter as he saw the soft delicate smile decorating Yoongi's face.

There were small rays of light peaking through the ceiling made out of wood and hay and when this light fell on Yoongi's soft face, it made him look as if he were an ethereal being, sitting right in front of Taehyung.

At this exact moment, in Taehyung's mind, there was only one thought racing: I want to have him.
