Yeowool was delighted. Maybe it had been just their luck but they had somehow stumbled upon the country's most famous wine shop. This wine shop was well famous for a lot of reasons varying from their authentic wine collection to the fact that the wine here was even transported to the royal palace on certain occasions.
The waiter saw three people entering. One looked like a monk, the other looked like a militant officer and the third looked like a noble family's son. The three really didn't go together and the waiter had to double-check if he was seeing right.
No matter who the customers were, it was the waiter's job to serve them in the best way possible so the waiter put on a bright commercial smile and welcomed the three odd customers, "Good morning, sir. What can I get you?"
Yeowool smiled back and responded, "We would like to book a private table."
The smile on the waiter's face broadened as he heard this. This wine shop had only a few private tables but not many people would order to be seated there. Only rich aristocrats and officials who don't want to be caught drinking liquor would book those private tables. The main reason was as simple as anyone could have guessed: Money.
It was expensive and not many people would be able to afford it. To go to a wine shop and book a table that was more expensive than the wine you drink, not many people would find that offer appealing.
The waiter seemed to have misjudged the customers so he immediately bowed deeply in respect as if trying to win them over as he spoke "Follow me, sir."
He led them to the second floor which was mostly empty. The hallway on the second floor was completely wooden and as they walked on it, their footsteps could be clearly heard. There was a reason why such a thing was here. It was to let the people inside the rooms know that there was someone approaching. If there was sound, it meant there was a chance that your conversation would be overheard.
Today didn't seem to be a busy day as all the rooms were empty and as a result, they were led to the most expensive room on the second floor.
Yeowool wasn't too worried about this since he had accompanied the crown prince here. He was sure that even the most expensive room in this wine shop would be nothing more than pennies for this man. Yoongi was rich and Yeowool was here to leach off of that richness. These were the perks of being acquainted with the crown prince and Yeowool was going to enjoy them to the fullest.
The three sat down on the velvet seat that was prepared for them. Yeowool sat by Yoongi's side for some reason while Taehyung sat in front of Yoongi. The two were facing each other, but Taehyung was still unsatisfied with the fact that Yeowool was sitting beside the crown prince.
The waiter handed over the menu to all three and Yeowool immediately refused to look at the menu as he spoke, "Get me your most expensive wine. Four jars."
The waiter was very satisfied as he heard this and immediately responded, "Anything else I can get you?"
Yeowool looked at the two and when he saw that no one said anything, he shook his head and sent the waiter away.
When the waiter had left, Yoongi chuckled, "You're planning on emptying out my pockets?"
Yeowool titled his head, "Of course, I am! You were the one that invited me to drink. You can't go back on your word now."
Yoongi chuckled and surprisingly, there was a small smile on Taehyung's face as well when he heard this, however, the reason why he was smiling was worlds different from the reason why Yoongi and Yeowool were smiling.
He felt his troublemaker instincts rise up. He wanted to do something mischievous.
Poor Yeowool was unaware of the fate that awaited him so he could still smile brightly as he looked at the delicious wine that had been brought out for them.
"Enjoy, sir. If there is anything else you want, feel free to call me." The waiter spoke before turning on his heels and walking away as he gave the customers some space.
Yoongi looked at the wine and then back at the front. Taehyung's eyes hadn't shifted to the wine since he came here and it was a bit shocking considering the fact that Yoongi had offered to come here because he thought Taehyung wanted to come here. Why was he still looking at Yoongi when the wine was already here?
Since the wine had already been brought out, Yeowool, no longer cared about anything. He filled the three cups with wine and picked up one as he spoke, "I haven't had this for such a long time."
Coincidentally, the last time he had this wine was also when he was drinking together with Yoongi. At that time also, it was Yoongi who was paying. Although Yeowool loved to drink this particular wine, the price tag would always stop him from spending his money on it. He would always wait for a chance when someone will ask to treat him for a drink and then he'll make them buy it for him. Everyone he knew had already grown accustomed to his habit so they would simply never ask him to buy them a drink and in that way, they would be saving their pockets.
Yoongi was the only one who didn't care about the prize of this rare wine so he would ask Yeowool to drink with him every once in a while but he was also the crown prince who had to rule this country so he didn't have much free time which made it extra hard for Yeowool to get a drink from the man.
Yoongi picked up a cup and handed it over to Taehyung as he spoke, "You should try a sip. It's our country's treasure."
Taehyung smiled brightly as he reached his hand out to accept the cup from Yoongi, his fingertips purposely brushing against the hand of the other.
"I have missed you, my love." Yeowool picked up the cup and kissed it as he spoke to the wine that wasn't ever gonna reply to him.
Yoongi chuckled lightly as he saw this and picked up a cup for himself. When he lifted his sleeve to cover his mouth, Yeowool stopped him as he spoke, "How about a competition, your highness?"
Yoongi frowned as he glanced at Taehyung and then back at Yeowool.
He was afraid that someone here was going to get really drunk and although Yoongi loved Taehyung's drunken behavior, he would not enjoy watching Taehyung getting drunk in front of Yeowool. After all, Taehyung had a habit of kissing people when he was drunk, did he not? Wasn't that why he kissed Yoongi? If he was going to kiss Yoongi, it was okay but if he were to go around kissing Yeowool, Yoongi was sure that he would be annoyed enough to cut down a few heads.
Taehyung smirked as he looked back at Yeowool who was looking at him expectantly, "Why not? Let's have a competition."
Yeowool, "Great! I must warn you, I'm pretty good at drinking."
Taehyung chuckled as he heard this, "Really? Now I'm a bit afraid."
"No need to be afraid! I don't bite hehe..."
"Then if we are competing, should we not fix a price for the winner?"
"Price?" Yeowool looked to be excited as he spoke, "That sounds good! What should it be?"
"Hmm... How about a wish?"
"A wish?"
Taehyung nodded as he spoke, "A wish. The winner gets his wish granted. No matter, what it may be. How about it?"
"Sounds interesting. Let's do that!" Yeowool beamed.
Taehyung couldn't help but smirk as he saw the man be so enthusiastic and confident. It was as clear as day that Yeowool was hoping to win, he was sure that he was going to win and Taehyung could only laugh at his stupid confidence.
Yoongi frowned as he heard this exchange between the two. The crown prince also seemed to have already guessed the winner and it was definitely not Taehyung. The man couldn't even act straight when he was down with a cold so who was to say what he would do when he was drunk?
Taehyung seemed to have sensed Yoongi's disapproval as he turned his face to him and smiled brightly as if trying to reassure the man that nothing was going to go wrong.
"Don't drink too much," Yoongi commented as he picked up the cup once again. This time, the others followed and picked up their cups as they all looked at one another.
"First cup!" Yeowool exclaimed before he downed the contents of the cup into his mouth.
Taehyung smiled as he followed the man and drank everything that was poured in a single gulp. Yoongi, however, was in no hurry and had no desire to win this drinking competition so he was naturally going to be as delicate and elegant as he sipped the wine slowly.
"Second!" The three cups were filled again and Yeowool looked at Taehyung and with a challenging smile, he downed it all in one go. Taehyung did the same and unlike how Yeowool's face twisted as the sourness hit his throat, Taehyung was as calm as ever, making it seem like he was drinking nothing more than water.
Yoongi glanced at the two and then back down at his cup. He wasn't going to compete with them but this wine was delicious and it seemed to be calling for him.
Taehyung and Yeowool aggressively gulped down cup after cup till they had finished two jars of wine. While it didn't look like Yoongi was drinking as much as them, in reality, they were all drinking the same amount. It was just that, these two gulped down the wine like water while Yoongi drank it slowly as he savored the taste in his mouth.
They drank and drank as if their lives depended upon this competition, or maybe it was just Yeowool and Taehyung who were trying to compete. Yeowool was entirely invested in the drinking competition for the wish that he'd get at the end whereas, Taehyung was taking this competition as something much more than just about wine or a wish.
He wanted to prove that he was better than Yeowool.
Yeowool seemed to have already forgotten but Taehyung was never going to forget how this man attacked him with his words. He had clearly said that he was a much better match for Yoongi and that sentence has been haunting Taehyung ever since. He had never wanted to prove himself better than anyone, nor had he ever felt the need to do something like that but when Yeowool dragged the crown prince into the situation, it was like a fire that had ignited within Taehyung.
For the first time in his life, he wanted to prove himself better than someone. He didn't care what the competition was about, as long as he could beat Yeowool in front of Yoongi, Taehyung would be satisfied with the stupid win.
Before they could realize it, hours had passed and they were down to their fourth jar.
Yeowool called the waiter and ordered another two jars but when the waiter was about to leave, he was stopped by Taehyung who called out to him and smiled.
"He won't be able to pay for it, so don't bother."
The waiter was confused and a bit disappointed as he heard this but he still nodded and went away. If the customers were going to order something expensive, he would be more than happy but if the customers weren't gonna pay up, the waiter would have to pay from his own salary and this man was too poor and his salary wasn't that great so he'd rather not take chances with a customer that was planning to dine and dash.
Yeowool frowned as he looked at Taehyung, "What do you mean? His highness has enough money!~"
Taehyung tilted his head and smiled in response as he heard this.
