Chapter 20: Chapter 17

The Crown Prince (Taegi AU)Words: 12030

Taehyung closed his eyes and let the feelings guide him. He wasn't thinking about anything. His mind was completely blank. Completely still like a spring of water with no ripples.

He did what he wanted to do and his body moved on its own.

He wanted to kiss the man so that was exactly what he did.

Yoongi was shocked to the point where he no longer knew what he was supposed to do. His brain couldn't process what was happening and his heart had gone completely crazy.

Their lips touched yet it didn't because of the thin piece of clothing in between.

He couldn't say he hated this but he couldn't say he loved it either. This stupid piece of cloth was the only thing between them now and it was the only obstruction that stopped their lips from having direct contact.

Yoongi couldn't deny the fact that he found it a bit arousing.

Yoongi saw Taehyung closing his eyes and his own eyelids started growing heavier as he closed them.

He could feel their warmth intertwine and he was no longer sure if it was his heart or if it was Taehyung's. His entire attention was on his lips as if it had suddenly grown warmer than any other part of his body. He didn't know what was happening anymore but he didn't want it to stop. He wanted time to stop at this moment. He wanted to capture this moment forever in his memories.

When Taehyung finally let his face go, Yoongi took the chance to pull away and his brain started working once again.

The two stared at each other and Yoongi didn't dare comment on what had just happened.

"If your highness trusts me, it's okay. You don't need to force yourself to take that cloth off." Taehyung was the first to speak up, "I'm happy with just being by your side. If one day you want to take that veil off, I'll be more than happy to walk beside you."

Yoongi felt like this man who was drunk just a minute ago had come back to his senses and was saying things with a much deeper meaning than what the words contained on their surface. Yoongi almost wondered, was this man faking it till now?

After having said this much with a smile on his face, Taehyung's consciousness finally gave out and he fainted.

Yoongi was at a loss for words and at a loss for what to do next. He lifted his hand and tapped the sleeping man, "You're just going to sleep like that?"

"..." Taehyung was already in deep slumber so it was only natural that Yoongi didn't get a response.

Yoongi nudged him once again, "Are you sure you're sleeping?" He asked again just to be sure and like before, he got no response. He was a bit disappointed and in the next second, he banged his head against the soft bed.

It didn't hurt him but he no longer dared to peek his head up again.

"You stupid hostage..." He mumbled softly and gave up thinking cause if he continued thinking back to what just happened and wondered what the man was thinking, he was afraid his brain would no longer be able to handle it.

Taehyung slept for an entire day and when he finally woke up the next day, he heard the shocking news from Shao Lan that it was the crown prince who personally looked after him for the entire time he was unconscious. Yoongi had just left, right before Taehyung woke up because of some work that had suddenly come up.

They had just missed each other by a few minutes.

When Taehyung heard this he was both shocked, thankful, and even a bit happy. Because some emergency work had come up, Yoongi had left and he was kinda relieved because of that since he wasn't ready to face that man.

He remembered it! He remembered everything that happened!

He wanted to smash his head against the wall and pass out once again. He was never going to get sick again! Just no!

He felt his heart unable to calm down. He was embarrassed with himself.

Shao Lan saw the young master acting weird and it made him wonder what he had missed yesterday. What happened between these two? He was curious but he was afraid of finding out the answer.

When he bought in a bowl of warm water and cloth this morning, he saw the young master finally gaining consciousness and the first thing he did was ask about the crown prince. Shao Lan didn't think too much about it and answered honestly, after all, there was nothing to hide.

By this time, Shao Lan who had seen with his own eyes how much the crown prince cared about Taehyung had come to the conclusion that these two were really close, like sworn brothers.

When he narrated what had happened, he saw Taehyung suddenly pull the quilt back up and burry his face in the pillow as he screamed at it.

"Are you okay, young master?" Shao Lan asked in worry but he got no response. Taehyung stopped screaming yet he didn't dare pull his face away from the pillow.

"Yuu ca leab nao." Taehyung spoke, but his voice was muffled by the pillow, coming out as a sentence that not even Shao Lan could understand.

"I can't hear you if you talk like that." Shao Lan responded

Taehyung pulled his head up and repeated his order, "You can leave now."

"Is young master okay? Your face doesn't look so good. Why is it still so red?" Shao Lan asked with worry written all over his face.

As Taehyung heard this,  he once again buried his head back in the pillow.

This was really... Embarrassing!

His sickness had really gone away and he was back to his healthy self, but the reason why his face was so red was directly related to a particular crown prince and his own drunkard behavior.

"Young master?" Shao Lan was showing no signs of leaving and Taehyung had to sit up and throw pillows at him.

"Leave!" Taehyung yelled as he threw the pillow at him and got ready to throw another.

Shao Lan saw a flying pillow coming his way and his instincts acted up, making him catch the pillow. When he caught the pillow and looked up again, he saw another one aiming at his face, he immediately ducked and was once again safe.

"Get out of here!" Taehyung got ready to throw the third pillow, but before he could do so, Shao Lan had already reacted.

"Okay. Okay. I'm taking my leave." Shao Lan bowed and stepped out of the room.

This young master of his was really unpredictable. What type of patient was like this? Acting drunk when sick and getting hostile when he recovers?

Once Shao Lan was out of the room, Taehyung went back to having a mental breakdown.

His mind started going crazy with thoughts that he couldn't stop.

It was all his fault!

His brother Hanyu had always warned him not to get sick and had told him that he should learn to control his bad sickness habits.

Taehyung knew exactly what he was like when he was sick. He would become clingy and start crying over every small thing. It was as if he would reverse-age a few years and turn back into a little needy spoiled kid. Taehyung had no idea why this happened to him, but since this habit had never caused him any trouble before this, he was unsure if he should do anything about it since it wasn't a big inconvenience.

He would hardly get sick and if he did, it was his brother who took care of him and since his brother already loved to spoil him so much, it was no trouble for him and instead, Hanyu was more than happy to see his brother suddenly become a clingy child.

If Taehyung were to choose one family member that he loved, it would be his brother who was more like both a mother and a father to him. When Taehyung went out and caused trouble everywhere, he would come back to hear a mouthful from his father and his mother would not even want to waste her words on him. It was always Hanyu who used to stand up for him.

Taehyung would be lying if he said he didn't miss his brother. His brother was really the best brother in the world for him. Always protecting him and taking care of him like a little child. Forgiving him for everything and spoiling him to the core. Sometimes, his brother would even lie for him and when the queen had originally given out the verdict that Taehyung would be set out as a hostage, it was his brother, Hanyu, who was the first and only person to stand up against the queen.

That day, Hanyu didn't eat anything and was punished to kneel in front of the palace in the freezing winter. Taehyung couldn't keep seeing his brother suffer because of him and that was a part of the reason why he was more than happy to become the hostage.

He kneeled next to his brother and said, "If mother doesn't send me there, I'll kneel here forever."

Hanyu was shocked to see his brother saying such a thing and so he reacted strongly, "What are you talking about?! Go back to your room! Don't talk nonsense."

Taehyung looked back at him and smiled, "I should be saying that to you. Why are you doing such stupid things?"

"You-! I'm doing this for you!"

"Hyung, I'm happy, can't you see that?"

Hanyu had never been able to understand this brother of his. He loved him and always considered him as a little kid whose mind was hard to read. He really couldn't understand what this brother of his was thinking when he said such things, "Why the hell are you smiling?! I'm not letting you become a pawn for her."

Taehyung chuckled as he heard this, "Hyung, please let me go. I really want to go."

"Do you even know what you are talking about?!"

"I do." Taehyung had thought about it a lot and he wanted his brother to stop treating him like a kid anymore, "I want to go."

"Why?" Just like always, Hanyu couldn't understand him.

"There's someone I want to meet again and that person can't come here so I want to go over there." Taehyung beamed.

"You!" Hanyu sighed.

At the end of the day, if the hostage was more than willing, who was he to object to the queen's decision? Taehyung was sent to the enemy kingdom as a hostage and Hanyu never got to see him again.

Taehyung's cheeks were on fire as he remembered what he had said that night. Just what was he doing here?

He really should let go of his old habits or who knows what might happen next? Was he this pent up that he had to go and randomly kiss the crown prince?

He thought back to the scene that never stopped replaying in his mind. He had really lost it!

He was unsure if he'll ever be able to face the crown prince again. What was the crown prince thinking of him now?

What if he just acts like he forgot everything?

That was it!

If he says he doesn't remember, there was no way Yoongi would continue the topic and remind him.

They could both just act as if nothing happened. They could continue their healthy relationship.

Taehyung would be lying if he said he wasn't scared. He was a coward, he'd proudly agree to that. He was a coward who was afraid of his own feelings and what he was more afraid of was rejection.

What if the crown prince hates him now? How would he be able to handle that? The answer was simple: He couldn't and so he'd rather run away than confront the crown prince about his feelings.

Taehyung finally collected his feelings that were all over the place and got up from his messy bed.

He suddenly found a note beside his bed and kept on top of the note was a familiar hairpin acting as a paper weight.

He picked up the piece of paper with one hand and held the hairpin in the other hand. He read what was written on the paper and his eyes went wide in surprise.
