Ethan's pov
My fist collided with the punching bag, hard and fast, as flashes of our last moments on the outside replayed over and over in my head, flashes of Ivy's tear swollen eyes the last time we spoke, flashes of her face this morning. It was no surprise that I could see behind her new look. I felt even more responsible for it, and you know what ate me the most? It was the fact that I felt useless, there was absolutely nothing I could do to make her feel better, there was nothing I could do to bring them back.
I've never felt this useless all my life. Ever.
Thats exactly why I need to get away, from here, from everything and from everyone. I wasn't doing them any good, my presence causes pain to people I care about. I should have known this would happen to Ivy the moment I steped into her life.
I'm done, done with hurting the people I love, done with being a burden to everyone and ruining every damn thing I touch.
The door to the training room pushed open. That didn't stop me from hitting the punching bag, imagining the face of the very woman who started this shit. Who has done nothing but to make every single second of my life miserable.
I looked up for a second, to see who the intruder was.
Edith strolled into the training room, her eyes on me. The look on them giving me a hint of why she was here.
She stood right between me and the punching bag, crossing her arms over her chest. "Is this you training for your mission, or you trying to torture the poor punching bag for something that it didn't do?"
"Leave me alone." Was all I could mutter.
"That's definitely something I'm not gonna do. Dad told me about your stupid decision to go after the Inc lords."
"Yeah so?"
"If you're going, I'm going." She said.
I stopped my movement, holding the punching bag in place. "What?"
"You heard me Ethan. I know you're only going after them to get yourself killed, I'm gonna go to make sure you don't try to get yourself killed."
"No, you're not." I deadpanned.
"Yes, I am."
"It's dangerous Edith." I bellowed.
"Yeah, it's dangerous, which makes me wonder why you want to take on that mission. You could get killed."
"At least I'd get killed doing what I know how to do best. You're not going anywhere Edith, I won't allow that." I said, walking pass her.
"Why are you doing this?"
"Doing what?" I turned to her, raising my hand in exasperation and dropping them back at my sides.
"Doing what you always do. Blaming and hurting yourself for something you didn't even do. Something that isn't even your fault."
I shook my head. "Everyone keeps telling me that it isn't my fault. But it is. It's what happens when I get close to people. No matter my efforts in keeping them out of danger, it still happens."
"That's not on you. You didn't ask for her parents to be killed. It's all part of Glory's fucked up plan. It's the Inc's doing, not yours."
"You don't know that."
"I do, Ethan. I know this isn't your fault. You lied to Ivy only to protect her-"
"Yet here she is-"
"That isn't your fault either. You have to understand that the Inc does things for a reason, and there's a reason why they brought Ivy and Roman here. Now we might not know what that is cause we never know what the Inc's true intentions are, but- if you want to protect her, this is the time to do so. Here, in your territory."
"She doesn't want to have anything to do with me, Edith. She hates me. How can I protect someone who can't stand to be in my presence."
She made her way closer to me. "She doesn't hate you Ethan, she's just not in a good place right now. And you both probably need this time apart... To maybe figure yourselves out. You need to figure yourself out Ethan. Cause we both know you're not okay. I'm sure she's gonna come around."
"She's not. We're not ever gonna come around this. Glory really did it this time." I said. "I saw the look in her eyes Edith. It told me everything I needed to know. It wouldn't be the first time I fall in love someone I can't be with. I'm only going after these guys to distract myself. I need this distraction Edith."
"You're gonna get yourself killed Ethan. If you don't care about your life anymore, I do. And if you're going, you're definitely going to need someone to watch your back. And you know the kind of friends you have, if you're going and I'm going, Fiona's gonna come to, don't even think about excluding Caramel. Or Ralph and Jay."
"You do realize I'm no longer in speaking terms with two of those people you mentioned right?"
"Yeah, Caramel and Ralph. But they're still gonna come to spite you. And you might not be in talking terms with them but, that doesn't erase years of friendship. Especially with Ralph."
I sighed. "Edith, there's no-"
"Point in trying to stop me. If you're going brother, I'm going too. See you at school. Don't be late." She said, making her way towards the door. About to walk out, she turned. "Maybe you should try talking to her again. Things might change." With that, she walked out.
Talking to Ivy again? What in hells name am I even going to say to her?
That's never gonna happen. Ever.
Ivy's pov
Picking weapons. If anybody had told me a year ago that I'd be taken to another dimension filled with robotic humans with special abilities, and that I'd be privileged to find a signature weapon I can train with, I'd have definitely called them crazy.
Malcolm had given me and Roman a list containing the places we have permissions to access here at the Rebels sector, and the only thing that caught my attention was the weapons room.
It was large, I'll give it that. Scattered around the walls were different weapons that looked like guns, but I was pretty sure they didn't shoot out bullet, but something else, something more powerful than bullets. There was also a section for knives, all kinds. Smooth blades that could cut through your flesh with just a light graze.
Roman had decided to stay in the lab with Malcolm, saying something about the lab being more of his section. But my curious mind wanted to see what the weapon section was all about.
And yeah, it was more than I expected.
A particular dagger drew my attention. It had a dark brown handle, the blade looked designed with some kind of writing pattern. It didn't look sharp, but it definitely looked dangerous.
I ran my fingers around the pattern slowy. Marveled at the feel of it on my fingers.
"Careful, that's the sharpest knife in here." A deep and somewhat familiar voice said from behind me. I took my hand off the blade, turning to the direction of the voice.
He was leaning against the door post from the gun section, arms folded against his chest, his black short sleeved shirt popped out his muscles and his tanned skin was something people would pay a million dollars to get done. His eyes, brown and deep watched me with amusement.
"When you're done having your fill of me, you can let me know." He smirked.
I rolled my eyes, giving him a 'really' look. "The last time we met I really didn't get the chance to put a face to name cause I remember being too busy whooping your ass."
"Oouh, ouch." He said, the smirk leaving his face. "I don't hit human, girls, Fisher."
"I'll keep that in mind the next time I'm busy whooping your ass. It could really help a lot when you try to fight back, Ralph." I retorted, my eyes going back to the dagger.
"Thats a Scottish dirk." He said, his voice a little bit closer, as his footstep halted right behind me. "We've got a total of four in the whole Inc. One in each sector, still in place."
"Why?" I asked.
He came to stand beside me, shrugging his shoulders. "Cause they think it's too old, and mostly because people don't really value the beauty of knives. The gun does the job quicker."
I looked up at him. "What do you use?"
His brown eyes met my gaze. "I'm the lover of both Fisher, As long as they serve the same purpose, I'm down." His lips kicked up at the side.
My gaze moved back to the dagger. I picked it up.
"You're taking it?"
"Yes, I like it."
He nodded. "Nice choice."
"Would you like helping me pick out a gun?"
"You're a lover of both?"
"I'm a lover of anything that can put an end to the person responsible for this dimension."
He cocked a brow at me. "Hm. I know just the right thing for you, Fisher."
I angled the gun, inspecting it. It felt heavy in my hand, but potable.
"I call her the Royal blazer. Kills the victim within five seconds. Shoots outs a skin melting vapour, enabling your victim to smell his, her or its skin burning, before they breath their last." He said.
I nodded. "Nice, I'll take her."
"Have you ever killed someone?" He asked me out of nowhere.
"No, but I'm really looking forward to."
He shook his head, eyes glistening with wonder and maybe admiration? "Brave, l like brave."
I gave him a sweet smile. "I don't, I don't care about what you like."
"I never asked you if you did, Fisher."
"Whatever. What do you know about the Inc lords?" I asked.
Every bit of amusement drained from his face. "How do you know about the Inc lords?"
"Answer my question first."
He shook his head. "I know enough to know that someone like you shouldn't be concerned about them."
"Someone like me?"
"Yeah, A human."
"A human who knocked you off your feet."
He frowned. "It doesn't take me two seconds to snuff the life out of you Ivy Fisher. If I wanted to really fight you that night, you wouldn't be standing here right now."
I rolled my eyes, folding my arms. "Well, thanks for going easy on me, next time, try to fight back, cause I'm not just any human."
He scoffed. "I know someone who's gonna kill me if I even touch a hair on your head. I already have enough scores to settle with that someone, and I don't want to have to add you to that list." He said.
"Ethan?" I asked, my heart changing its normal rhythm as his name left my lips.
"Yes, Ethan."
"You don't have to worry about Ethan. We don't have anything to do with each other anymore." I said.
"Really? Mouth saying one thing, eyes saying another."
"Whatever. Thats besides my point."
"Whats your point Fisher?"
"I'm going after the Inc lords, and since you claim to be so good at this, be my personal trainer."
He shook his head. "You're only gonna get yourself killed, Fisher."
"You think I care? If they're as bad as everyone says they are, then they need to be stopped. And besides, I overheard Ethan telling Malcolm to give him a spot on the mission."
"What?" He asked, his eyes going serious. "Ethan's going?"
"Yeah."
Ralph shook his head. "That idiot." He muttered under his breath.
I watched the way worry brought down his brows. He's worried about Ethan? Are they friends? Were they?
"That's why you're going too isn't it? Because Ethan's going?"
I sighed. "Ethan's only going because he- because of me. I think, and according to what he told Malcolm, he needs a distraction. I feel like someone has to look out for him, cause- he's not really okay. There's something going on with him, and it's not good."
"You care about him."
"I love him. And if anything happens to him, I don't think I'll be able to survive that."
"Thats why you're throwing yourself into fire?"
"I'll throw myself into fire a thousand times to protect him."
Ralph shock his head. "I'll never understand you lovers. If you love each other enough to sacrifice your life for each other, why don't you just be together and stay alive?"
I sighed. "I just lost my parents Ralph, I wasn't in a good a place, and I broke up with him thinking it'd make me feel a lot better, thinking if I hurt him as much as his lies hurt me, then maybe, i'd find peace? But- seeing him today just- just made me realize that I made a big mistake, and none of it was his fault and that he couldn't have known. After all, he was doing it all to protect me. I was looking for someone to blame, when I should have been blaming myself. He tried to warn me countless times about this place, even wiped my memory to protect me, but I was so stupid, and my curiosity ruined everything."
"Well, they did say curiosity killed the cat."
I rolled my eyes, fumbling with the gun in my hand.
"Look," Ralph, started. "I know Ethan, I've known him since like forever, he was- we were like brothers, and we might not really be friends like before but- I'd give my life for him within a heart beat."
So they used to be friends... Brothers.
"I know that right now, he's beating himself up for everything and right now, he's feeling like shit because he thinks he's responsible for everything that happened-"
"He's not-"
"Did you make him see it that way, or the opposite?"
I sighed.
"Good, When Ethan's like this, he doesn't think, he just acts, and later ends up regretting it. He pushes everyone out because he believes in his stupid brain that we all deserve better than him. This isn't the first time Ivy, It's almost like the Inc has him on their radar, ruining his life every second of the day. Do you know how many times he's gotten arrested? How many times they've taken and hurt people that he cared about? Ethan and I are not on speaking terms because he pushed me away, because he thought he was responsible for-" He stopped himself.
Responsible for what?
"In this case Ivy, no one is to blame, but the Inc. They're gonna keep on doing this until maybe one day somebody puts an end to them." He said.
"Would you help?"
He looked confused for a second.
"Would you help if I have a plan to bring them down?"
"If there's even a chance we can do that, I'm all in."
A smile pulled at my lips.
"Nobody likes it here Ivy, nobody."
Caramel said so... I can't believe I said those things to Ethan. I can't believe I accused him of wanting to be here, knowing how he was brought here.
How could I have been so unthoughtful?
"You want me to train you? I will... I could actually use a little bit of practice right now."
"Why, you think I might just beat you again?"
"No, if we're going after the Inc lords, we need all the training we can get."
"We? You're coming too?"
He scoffed. "Like I would leave that idiot to go get himself killed. And like you said, he needs someone to watch his back, that's where we come in."

I'll be posting the face claims of Ivy, Ralph, Malcolm and Edith very soon, and I'd love to know what you think about them.
Also, you can send me a DM with a picture of the person who you imagined as Ethan, as I'm still finding it difficult to put a face claim to him, cause he's more handsome than any face claims I've seen so far!
Till the next update, please comment for a quick update.
Bye beauties!
