Alpha Nocturneâs Contracted Mate by A E Randell Chapter 180 Kill Two Birds with One Stone After finishing up with Bartholomew, Ann, and Adam made their way back to their room. Adam had some contracts to go over and was determined to conference call Allen and find out exactly what was going on. He had promised Ann that he wouldnât get too angry with him, but he wanted him to know just how disappointed with him he was. Things could have been so different if he had just acknowledged his bond with Lexi from the start and embraced it. He was an iâ**t, and Adam felt that it was about time that someone told him that seriously. Ann still had to finalize details with Eva for Coralâs training and she wanted to at least be able to provide her with a full itinerary for the training schedule so she settled herself on the bed and began drawing up a loose schedule.
Once she was done she grabbed her phone and called her. The sooner it was arranged, the better in her opinion as it seemed that things were going to get incredibly busy if delegates were arriving already.
As she was mulling over the prospect of Alpha Felix and his wife turning up anytime now, Eva picked up the call and startled her with her voice suddenly appearing over the end of the receiver. She had been so deep in thought she had almost forgotten in the moment that she had called her at all.
âHey, Ann! Oh! I mean, your highness. How are things?â Eva greeted, quickly correcting herself on her social misstep and by the sounds of it, stifling a grin at herself.
âI can hear your smile, Eva,â Ann giggled. âWhat? Outrageous. How do you even hear a smile anyway? Is that part of your Queenly powers now?â Eva teased.
âIt would be a pretty shitty skill if it was. Imagine, the royal power of hearing a smile over a phone⦠how would that even be useful?â Ann snorted.
âIâm teasing. Itâs good to hear from you. I bet youâre swamped with meetings and all the fun that comes along with being a diplomatic figure now.â
âItâs not been too bad honestly so far, but I know things are going to ramp up fairly soon. Itâs actually why Iâm calling Eva. I need your help.â
âOh of course! What do you need?â Eva answered without hesitation, her eagerness bringing a thankful smile to Annâs face.
âActually, itâs your expertise I need. I want to send Coral to you as soon as possible.
Iâm going to be swamped with meetings and micromanaging the business and attending all of this is going to be next to impossible.â âSure thing. Feel free to send her whenever you want. Iâll take her with me on my daily rounds and let her see how itâs done. Has she got any previous experience?â
âNo. Sheâs been an Omega at the Enclave probably for her whole life. Iâm fairly sure she has a basic education, but let me know what you think she needs moving forward okay?â
âOf course. Do you want me to book her in for it? Thereâs a ton of online classes she can take in the evenings after sheâs finished work so it wonât impact on your schedule too much.â
âI donât want her to have no time for herself though Evaâ¦â Ann said hesitantly as Eva snorted at the other end of the phone.
âListen, Iâll tell you now, she is going to have more free time as your assistant than she ever had as an Omega in that place. Even when their own duties are finished for the day, there are still all of the communal tasks that are expected of them. If anything, sheâll be grateful for having âworkâ that she can do in comfort and in the privacy of her own room.â Ann nodded as she mulled over words and sighed.
âYouâre right, I know. I have plans for changing how things will be done within the Enclave but⦠now is not ideal to start shifting everything around. Itâs just incredibly frustrating, I want to be able to fix everything now, not in a few years.â
âYouâll get there, Ann. You transformed the way things were done in our department, and it has had a knock-on effect throughout the rest of them. Since youâve become Alpha Queen, the heads of other departments are rushing to emulate you and your business practices. You know, weâve never had so many hybrids and independents working within the company. Itâs a small change, but itâs a start.â Eva answered softly.
Annâs heart soared with that news. Such a small thing to people in power, but to those who had struggled for so long, it meant that they were one step closer to a better life thanks to a better income.
âOh! Eva!â Ann gasped suddenly, âI need to come up with a credible solution to an issue that I know Iâm going to face in a few weeks. Do you think you can get hold of the Enclave blueprints, or do you need higher clearance to access those?â
Eva chuckled.
âUnfortunately, even those are beyond my capabilities, Ann. Youâll have to speak to someone at the Enclave about that. All the blueprints for the buildings relating to the royals are stored in the vault to ensure security is never compromised.â
Ann swore internally but it couldnât be helped. It made sense. It would be disastrous for those plans to fall into the hands of any hostile parties. She would just have to bring it up at the council meetings, or perhaps speak to Bartholomew and see if he could help.
âOkay, no problem. Iâll see what I can do. How are the rest of the projects going within our department?â âWithout you? Falling apart obviously.â Eva teased sarcastically.
âEverything is proceeding as originally planned I have a few more things that I need you to sign off on so if youâre able to drop by tomorrow we could get those out of the way.â
âI wish I could Eva. Iâm going to be tied up here for a little while yet at least, can it wait a little?â âNo worries! You donât have to come here. I could drop by tomorrow if you like. Perhaps I could pick Eva up and bring her back with me at the same time. Kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.â
âSounds perfect. Iâll see you tomorrow Eva.â
