Two weeks ago
Taking a deep breath, the young man carved on himself feeling his inside clothes getting damped. He felt sick in his stomach, it was a good thing he ate nothing since he woke up.
Movements was heard from the outside coming from the others units gathered in the fields today.
It was an important one. It was a pass to be in the way of your destiny. Heaven or hell. The young soldier remembered as if it was the day before her had taken the wrong side.
Yeah. The literaly wrong one. He wanted to go out there to tell them all to go with the best but had no power over it. The Queen will be there, that was what made it all pompous. And made him nervous he want to run away in the opposite direction but knew what has to be done.
Taking a slow moment to exhaled in and out he just was almost there when his door was pushed open from the outside by none other than his Commander Pradesh.
"Karis we start in five. I need you out there you take the lead of the blue. Red is on Raphaelli as always."
Walking straight out behind him the man who was more of an inside agent than anything else since he mostly work in the palace or else where the king was involved said nothing back.
He had made up a plan, not James bond like but one that could work.
"I expect you to look closely at my daughters. Those two want to follow in my steps. I do not know what to do with them. For now keep an eye on them."
"Yes Commander." Walking briskly like he was reminded for his life never wasting time.
Agent Karis was aware of what he really mean. The king could be there. He did not wanted the man to see them. When you work alongside the man it was preferably to keep candy far from his eyes. Left with one solution he straightened his head looking up. What was sure they will not like it at all. But knowing the hotheads they will give him an excuse by themselves.
The moment they were out he relaxed welcoming the soft breeze around them. It was one of those days where the sky was cleared of any cloud, the sun had the tendency of getting hard and soft, it was already ten in the morning, looking around him he spotted the royal escort already all over the place, frowning he was about to asked his command what was going on as they kept walking towards the large football field where the new hires was to be picked when his eyes landed on a feminine back. She was here early than announced.
Right away not giving his brain the chance to check out the curves that could have any man in his right mind, or all women as his eyes spotted them looking her way, not doing so. Karis intuition recognized the Queen in sport attires, she looked nothing like herself with shades on her eyes a red sport hat on her head her hairs attached in a tight bun.
She and her men were already taking in the abilities of the agents she wanted to pick not once did she looked Pradesh way. She was the one who ordered this to happen. The hardest of all they ever did. Commander Raphaeli was the one making it happened though. He was here almost every day until noon them will go to come back at eight PM moving them all out going at it all over again. Harder.
There were some she was picking after hearing what the man told her, others she would ushered off the field with a movement of her index not giving a thought at theirs lost face. Tough it was but army was no joke.
Looking at his own business that was already gathering infront of him, Karis could feel them afraid of the outcome of the day because on the other side of the field was left in five minutes only the half of the number they previously were. The rest were directed to the other side of the dormitories meaning special services was not for them.
"Sir? How does she know who is go or not?"
"Yes. Isn't it unfair to do that?"
The women courageous apprentices that voiced what the others thought were none but Pradesh daughters, moving his head from side to side knowing their father was near him, he shook his head no pointing them smiling internally at how fact it was.
"In the special services you are out here to give your life. It is not yours anymore as soon as you signed for it. What the Queen is doing is right or not? Let yourself answer that question soldiers. If it was your life someone who can not look you straight in the eyes has to protect will you keep them?"
While asking that he met some hesitant eyes on his way before looking straight in Pradesh young daughter thinking he could brake he but the woman held the demonic gaze he was giving her. The one that make you so uncomfortable you want to pee. That one, he had learned from his instructors, he knew it was the trick the Queen just used with most of the people she sacked off her team.
"No Sir."
Walking to her face with a menacing features he stood infront of her, taking in all the space of comfort, she clenched her jaws still looking at him, in her eyes he could see a defensive mechanism he had only saw in her father it was like as soon as she felt the danger a wall was pulled protecting her from the danger while she stood her ground.
His nose flaring up making the others back of from at least two feet except her sister who was keeping an eye on him waiting for one wrong move to put him off. She could he was well aware. Their father trained them well. The way she held her hand still not pulling them in a fist was completely not going with her deathly but calm stare.
"I DID NOT HEARD THAT!"
"NO SIR!" Standing her ground her eyes void of emotion, young Pradesh yelled back like the soldier she was polished to be.
With a menacing gaze he analyzed her to the point she knew to break the staring contest looking straight on his shoulder since he was taller than her. Moving the corner of his mouth the soldier who looked nothing like anyone ever see from him turned his head to the eldest Pradesh his eyebrows defiantly lifted.
"What? You want to say something? You think that I am harsh huh?"
Moving slowly to her he stood in front of her leaning his heard to the left. He knew her so well that at the moment she would have beheaded him already with her lazer gaze.
She looked like her mother, a model face that had nothing to do in the army, because people never see what was inside. Her eyes could lure in the hardest target while her hands finish with them without them knowing. She was lethal in and out of the fields. Not moving her face an inch she felt untouchable literally and figuratively, she was conscious as her little sister that their name as skills protect them. Behind her armor she kept silent falling in his second trap. Pride. She said nothing giving him the tools he needed to protect them.
"I asked you a question soldier. Answer!"
Doing the one who understood nothing she kept her head straight her eyes blanked, the void in them making him uncomfortable. He looked in them not able to reach them.
At that point everyone on the field had theirs gaze on them, nodding at her lack of answer he turned to look at the rest pointed at those who could not hold his gaze early making time fifteen sending them off with a movement of his index earning protesting faces but no one emited a word.
"As the both of you." Looking at them with pointed eyes he placed his hands in his back standing straight " No one question what the Queen do or the Royal family as I know. You are not here to think are search for reasons behind things. If you do search a reason you can politely ask for the answer! It is ten thirty already, at noon you will join us to do your exercises. Now I want you to run around the basketball field down there. You stop once you are off."
Looking at them for a protestation that never came he nodded seeing they were waiting for him to dismiss them properly. 'Those two will stand for each others even into death' he thought meeting their father eyes when he turned towards the ones he expulsed. He could see through the man face that he was thinking the same.
Pointing one of the young man he just dismissed Karis showed him to go with the Pradesh daughters.
"You go with them. If one of them stop. You are to call me, if you don't there will be no chance for you to ever be in Porys forces whatever the place. If you succeed you will be given another chance. Now all of you GO."
Making the salute they all disappeared running slowly toward the place.
"Who are those girls?"
At the Queen simple question as she kept following the women trotting towards the basketball court she removed her eyes from the binoculars hanging around her neck to looked at Pradesh stoic face. The man said nothing standing there as he was not present while his agent was threatening the girls which was really odd. Turning her head to Raphaeli while the now twenty members that was left of two hundred were going around making specific exercises requested by the instructors that was barking orders at them.
"They are Pradesh daughters."
Saying nothing the Queen stare went to the girls again then at the man before going on the back entrance where the king appeared in all his glory to salute the new recruits of his army.
Arching her right eyebrows she leaned her head to the side taking her binoculars again to have a good view of the girls faces they were her children ages, at the sight of them she hummed again before looking at her left straight in Pradesh eyes. Taking him in, she held his gaze for a second more then looked away pushing her shades infront of her eyes.
While the king was talking with the young recruits, the commander looked at the two women running in the court a little farther before settling on Karis thankful he found a way out from now.
Katiandra had registered the man actions behind her shades. It did not take a genius to get what they were doing. You do not leave a child with candy expecting them to not eat them, the child here was the exuberant man they called their king while his beautiful daughters, really beautiful, were the candies. Not blaming the man when she was doing the same for her girls the Queen focused on her task.
At twelve on the dot, the king who had joined his wife to see those she had chosen, made her accompanied him to say goodbye. The man took the thing really seriously, one thing that was real for the change in him.
As soon as they finished he walked away while Katiandra headed to the basketball court taking in the two women who was still running like they were doing marathon.
The pace from the beginning not changed even under the sun that was very hard on everyone. Theirs clothes were completely damped like water had been pouring only on them but they kept running saying nothing.
Those were good assets she believed, still pondering on how dehydrated they were she was about to turn when from nowhere water spilled on her back making everyone freezed where they stood horrified by the act.
Completely stunned by what he just did himself agent Karis looked down fearing to look at the woman. Turning to see who did it, the Queen eyes almost startled at the agent sight.
"You Know better than making this kind of error agent Karis!" Raphaeli who had almost appeared near the Queen said in a commanding but lower tone the woman still processing what just happened.
"I'm sorry my Queen, I was not looking were I was going." His head still down he glanced in his peripheral vision seeing no one else near he bowed like making a reverence. "Be careful my Queen. The king, he is coming after you."
Taken aback by the man last words whispered in a hush tone, Katiandra looked at her commander not saying a words. She wondered why he was chosing to talk about it here when he could at the palace.
" I'm sorry for the water my Queen I found no other way. There are hearing devices everywhere ma'am. He is watching your every move."
Walking towards him menacingly, Raphaeli towered over him as he did to Pradesh daughters early looking him in the eyes. Anyone looking could think he was scolding him.
"Why should we believe you agent Karis?"
Not surprised he knew his name the young man face changed to an horrified one, like he had seen a gosh and did not want to experience it again.
"I don't want to be like him... No... N..o..t the Queen. No. She is a good person. I don't want to be like him. Please... trust what I am telling you. He want you down, he,he is doing things. Please ma'am be careful. My Mama.... before she died.. she said ' Kiki the day you will do something again your Queen that will be the one and only they your soul will cross the line. Do what is requested from you but never go against the Queen. She is sacre.' My Mama words commander... I just don't want to be like him. NEVER."
Clenching his jaw repeatedly while his eyes were almost red the man stood there like a stick waiting his sentence. While the Queen had moved to their level scrutinizing the young agent closely. She could tell he panicked when he saw she was leaving deciding to use what was in his hands. No one use Porys mother lightly even Arthur in his most evil way never did.
"Well agent Karis. What was the bucket of water for? Do not answer that. I suppose it was for your special agents down there??? Hmmm" pulling her shades down again she nodded with a blank face thinking the girl really needed to be hydrated.
Analysing him behind them she could see his fear. But also his courage, it was nerves breaking to do what he just did. How she could ensure he went out of it unharmed was making her brain worked so quickly it would have hurt if she was not use to it.
"Raphaeli I want you to take care of this. No one throw water on me unpunished. For now on I assigned agent Karis to your orders. Do not be soft." Pradesh who had mustered the courage to come to them heard all the phrase looking at his agent showing his discontentment to him.
"My Queen if I may..."
"No agent Pradesh. It is me are the king. Your choice... Hmmm I thought so. Now move out of my way."
Walking with the poise of a Queen under the recruits still wide eyes she was right away surrounded by her details to stop anyone to come near her they knew better and was all wondering what will happen to their instructor. The answer was clearly after just mumbled to them by one of the queen soldier "NEVER do that." with a scary tone of voice.
The moment she was out of sight. All theirs eyes moved on the commander that was like the queen shadow left with instructor Karis as he presented himself hour ago.
"YOU. Follow me."  Raphaelli stern voice ran in Karis ears like cold buckets of water.
"YOU!" Looking up immediately from the basketball field at the authoritative voice directed at them, the Pradesh girls had theirs hands shading their eyes as they took the man they recognized in, waiting but still jumping on theirs feet to be given orders.
Making the movement to stop and get out of the field with his flat palms meeting perpendicularly in front of him, then the right moving in an arc at his right, he turned without a second gaze to the culprit agent who just followed without a word jogging with long laps to catch up with the Queen.
Behind them the women seeing their instructor leave did just what was requested of them feeling theirs bodies boiling inside.
Holding the woman door for her to go in, Raphaelli who had succeed to arrive at the car before her went with the routine getting in the car himself after making sure Karis was seated on the passenger seat near him.
It was not raising any doubt since many thought he was going to have the worse punishment ever. They all knew the king was an infant near the woman punishment. After the cars had rolled away the separation between them silently went down making it possible to talk.
"I want all the details agent Karis. Everything. NOW." The cold voice coming behind him made shivers spread all over the young agent who closed and opened his eyes in a blink to concentrate knowing there were no going back.
