Smiling at his mother Lincoln sat on the edge of one of the study table that was place not far away of the fireplace. He remembered his grandma like to use that one when ever she had some work to do but still wanted to be warm. After the way his mother was during the reception he could relate her for the first time to his grandma.
For him she was the most enchanting person on Earth, always smiling making him laugh everytime she would see he felt low about himself. She knew what it was like to be the heir of the Alister, so she did that without her husband knowing.
Today was the first time he could reconciliated with the thought of having a mother, it felt good because she had regained that warmth place in his heart.
Looking at his little brother he could see the same admiration. She has broke the law to make people happy just like her mother in law before her often did.
"What is it with the stares dears one would think it is the first time you see me."
Chuckling at her word Kayley shook her head as astonished as her brothers but feeling above it envy, she wished the woman could pretend to be with her like she was with all those strangers, alive, just for a few minutes. Shaking her head she kept chuckling through her sadness thinking it was the only way to get rid of it.
"Wine too..." she mumbled taking a sip of it meeting her brother Alfred eyes on her, rolling hers at the face he was making now, clearly not liking her drinking that much.
What he didn't knew was that it was the only thing that brought her comfort. He had his father to do that she has no one.
" Mom it was wonderful out there! I like it for the first time. Woah! People was astonished and more than thrilled to take pictures with you, you wouldn't know they were rich people begging for a picture!? Seriously."
Moving his hand in the air his hairs all up now since he didn't like it in the traditional haircut, all pushed back sticky on his skull. Lincoln joyfully said with his eyes searching his mother.
Smiling at him happy he wasn't like his father in many ways, Katiandra who was sitting on the on place sofa near the wall length bookshelf shook her head her eyes glowing in a way that had all her children internally wondered what was possessing her. It was so unlike the woman but they like it.
"Don't make fun of them Lincoln, it was natural. I know I would have done the same. It is only a human thing to do. But yes I had fun for the first time."
"Braking the law gave you fun mom? You're bad!"
Letting go of his almost drunk sister sight Alfred joked having his mother laughed at his words which made them all laughed even Kayley emitted a small smile envy eating her at how everyone could be relaxed with her and she couldn't.
Glenn entered the room not making any noise and started placing coffee in front of everyone when she knelt near the Queen to make her special beverage, a mixture of oriental plants that she preferred to drink, the woman followed her every move as she mixed the liquor fresh scent spreading around.
Aware of the Queen stare on her the young woman did her best to focused on her tasks when out of nowhere Norman entered the library making everyone looked his way. After making his reverence toward the woman he served he looked at her then lowered his gaze.
"My Queen the king wants Glenn to serve him tea in his room. "
Arching her eyebrows at the sound of that, Katiandra eyes pierced the said Glenn making her glanced her way as she finished with what she was doing. The room felt in a total silence the only sound being the one the small spoon the maid was using in the small expensive cup to move the honey in the beverage was doing again the item.
To say Katiandra felt angry to have all her children heard it wasn't even the point, she was passed that level knowing they all knew the really reason she was requested there. Meeting the young woman frightened gaze she leaned slowly to take her cup of tea bringing it to her lips making a small smile to the woman whose breath was caught in her throat.
"Do it good dear." Taking the sip of the liquid while closing her eyes she could feel her children stare on her couple with the maid's.
" I mean... The tea. Why not trying this one tonight. Make him the same."
The sensual way she said it not only astonished her children but had the young maid blushing profusely feeling her body warming in a way that rarely happened to her. Knowing what she did Katiandra smiled broadly ushering her out by a movement of her head, without further hesitation the maid exited the room trying her best to concile her shame.
She knew her situation wasn't the best but what could she do, it was that or facing death no one she knew a part of his wife could said no to the insensitive king at least she could have some sort of advantages out of it.
Breathing out she did as she was used to do shut her mind as she took the stairs bringing her to a man she knew in a way her body belongs to, praying one day it will stop.
In the library no one dare braking the silence, all feeling the weight of what was going on in that wonderful palace people was gawking at minutes ago. It was sinister they all knew.
Katiandra knew deep down Lorelei wouldn't have been happy at how she just treated the woman she knew was forced to sleep with her husband for her own sakes! She was aware of the fate of those who have said no to him.
One of their maid finished with Arthur gun destroying her pelvis by chance she was save but could never enjoy making love again in her life, they said it was an accident but Katiandra knew better. That was how terrified Glenn felt right now terrified to not please him well.
Not feeling it anymore her stomach suddenly tied in a knot, she placed her cup of tea back on the beautiful glass table breathing in trying her best to remove those images in her head.
The only thing she knew was that she couldn't stay longer under the roof where a woman was about to sacrifice herself for her own sake, she was that woman for so long it made her want to vomit.
Standing up she looked at her children sorry to have to cut their night with her short.
"I'm sorry loves but I'm not sleeping here tonight. I prefer to go back to the museum..."
A small laugh made her stopped mid sentence to look at Kayley who shook her head at her a new glass of wine in her hand making Katiandra frowned at the amount of liquor she had already drank. It was a chance she was still there acting like someone who didn't drank that much.
"Sure dear mother... Why will you stay here after all..."
Opening her arms wide she wandered her gaze around like she was searched someone then not finding them she shrugged making a pouting face.
"Oops, it's right your precious child isn't here..."
Not letting her mother placed a word she drank all the contain of her glass standing up, leaned forward to place it back on the table under her mother awestruck but sorry gaze and her brothers angry ones they were not happy at the way she was destroying her life.
"Don't look at me like that... I'm... perfectly fine. You can go mother. Have a nice night you all." Just like that she was heading to the door.
"Kayley!" Not minding her brother call she left the door open walking straight to her bedroom feeling shattered.
Her gaze on her two boys Katiandra nodded her heart hurting, she could only replay the empty gaze she just met coming from her own daughter. She felt like she had failed her to an extent that even her didn't know if she could repair it.
Diverting her gaze on the open door she stood there wondering what to do, pushing her need to rest aside she preferred to follow her heart for once. Leaving the two silent men in the library she run after her daughter for once, she thought, sorry for that.
After walking straight to her bedroom she found it closed no knock made it open, she could feel the vibration of the door which only mean music was at its maximum inside.
Sighing she turned around just to see Norman standing there a key in his hand pointed towards her.
At her frown he stared at the door then at her.
"Lincoln called asking me to bring you her keys. He said you would need them my Queen. It's not the first time she does that."
"Ohh, thank you." Taking the keys she waste no time to open the door to be meet with and aggressive metal music that made her cringed. Knowing why she was there she closed the door behind her after motioning her guard to stay in front of it.
Not seeing her anywhere in the big pink bedroom which made her smile at her tastes of princess reminding her of the little Kayley always seeking her approval, Katiandra felt bad really bad because what she saw earlier wasn't the young woman that always wanted to fight her, what she saw was that little girl through the face of a beautiful angry woman crying internally to be acknowledged.
Wondering where she was after going through the bedroom and her large bathroom, the worried mother finally opened the dresser, a large place with the same dimensions as her bedroom that was also empty, breathing out exasperated Katiandra was about to turn around when a sniff alerted her making her glanced to the end of the room where she was sat back to her in front of the large mirror that covered all the wall.
Walking straight relieved that she was there but worried at how miserable her reflect on the mirror was. The woman eyes almost popped out of her face in horror at what she was doing.
