Maria was wearing a pale pinkish gray dress, white heels and delicate makeup. Her curly hair with big waves was styled so that it hung over one of her shoulders.
She looked like she had seen Dolores for a long time. With her arms folded across her chest, she looked at Dolores in the doorway.
Dolores didnât want to get into any conflict with her. It didnât mean that she was afraid of Maria, but simply that she wasnât in the mood to tangle with her. Therefore, Dolores pulled Theresa and walked away down the side path.
Mary, however, had no intention of letting her go easily.
In her opinion, if it wasnât for Dolores, how was Matthew going to leave her?
No matter where Dolores was headed, Mary would simply block her path.
âWhatâs wrong with you?â Theresa snapped angrily after being stopped several times.
âSomethingâs wrong with you!â Maria glared at her. Her delicate face twitched with anger.
âIf youâre sane, why are you blocking our way?â Theresa glared back at her.
She, too, could express her anger through her gaze.
As Abbott walked by, he happened to see the women arguing in front of the hotel entrance. âExcuse me, Mr. Nelson. It looks like Mrs. Herbert and Miss Flores are in there,â he said to the man sitting in the back seat and stopped the car.
Matthew was reading a document with some unread ones in his lap. He was wearing a white shirt and his suit jacket unbuttoned. He was wearing his shirt loose and two collar buttons also buttoned. You could see his thin neck and prominent collarbones. He appeared to be very busy. Otherwise, he wouldnât be reading papers while sitting in the car.
Hearing what Abbott said, he rolled down the car window and looked over.
Sure enough, he saw the two women.
Matthew shot a glance at Maria and his eyes darkened. He closed the folder in his hands, not wanting to get out, but he had lost interest in reading them any further.
Abbott asked him cautiously, âShall we get off and take a look?â
Matthew shot him a cold look. Abbott pursed his lips, reluctantly keeping silent.
In front of the hotel entrance, Dolores tugged Theresa. âLetâs change restaurants.â
âYou want to leave? No way.â Mary spread her arms wide and continued to bar Doloresâ way. She was infuriated that Matthew had called off their engagement.
Now she found herself at fault. How could she let Dolores leave so easily?
Doloresâs face darkened completely. âGet out of my way!â scoffed Mary. âGet out of your way?â she said in a fierce tone, âDolores Flores, Dream on! Youâve ruined my happiness and my future, how could I let you go? I wish I could tear you to pieces and throw away your flesh to feed the dogs.â
âIâm afraid the dogs wouldnât eat what you give them!â Theresa was not willing to see her so arrogant.
Mary slapped Theresa across the face. Pointing to Theresaâs nose, she snapped, âWho do you think you are, how dare you talk to me like that?â
Theresa was startled by the slap.
She felt a burning pain in her cheek.
Dolores clenched her hands. All her blood flew backward throughout her body, and the power pooled in her right hand. She reached up and slapped Mary on the left cheek.
This slap sounded much louder than the one a moment ago.
She didnât want to tangle with Maria, but that didnât mean she was an easy person to bully.
Maria slapped Theresa, so she slapped her.
Mariaâs eyes almost popped out. She couldnât believe Dolores had the guts to hit her. âHow dare you hit me?â
Dolores clenched her hands. A moment ago, she slapped Maria with all her might. Now not only her hand, but also her whole arm was numb. However, she kept her face calm. âIf you did not offend me, I would not offend you. It was you who provoked me first. Do you think you are somebody just because you are the daughter of the Herbert Family? We are all human beings and no one is superior to the other. Since you hit her, you should bear the retribution.â
Retribution?
âYouâre the one who deserves retribution!â Maria pounced on her as if she had gone mad. âDolores Flores, Iâm going to kill you. Iâm going to kill youâ¦â
All the pent-up hatred in Mariaâs heart had found a breakthrough in Dolores. Maria was out of control.
She had already lost her mind.
âAre you sure you can win against the two of us?â Dolores was extremely calm, standing motionless.
Out of nowhere, Theresa found a stick, holding it in her hands. She looked at Maria intently. If Maria dared to move, Theresa would hit her in the head.
Maria paused. Since she had returned to the Herbert Family, no one had dared to provoke her like that.
Accustomed to the flattery and compliments of others, she had never suffered such a loss.
She was furious.
She couldnât help but tremble with fury.
âWhat are you looking at, arenât you afraid your eyes will pop out?â waving the stick, Theresa was ready to raise the stick and strike her.
Mary was so frightened that she couldnât help but hold her head tightly.
It was her instinctive reaction.
But the look on her face was quite hilarious.
âHa haâ¦â Teresa laughed at her.
âDolores Flores, I wonât let you go!â Maria was so angry she was almost roaring hysterically.
âHa!â scoffed Dolores.
Let her go?
When had Maria ever let her go before?
âMaria Herbert, you harmed my mother and made her mentally ill, you planned my car accident and almost killed me, have you ever had mercy and planned to let me go?â He had hesitated, wondering if he should take revenge on Maria because she was Sampsonâs younger sister. If he really did something to Maria, he would feel sorry for Sampson.
After all, Sampson cared a lot about his little sister.
However, seeing that Maria already hated her to the core and never intended to let her go, Dolores realized that Maria could hurt her continuously as Maria had already done it to her repeatedly.
Dolores was different now than she was before. She had two children as her weakness.
No one would know if Maria would hurt her children if she had gone mad.
At this point, Dolores firmly decided that she would work with Terry to file the booking of her accident case as well as her brotherâs suicide in the past.
She feared that only when Maria was finally punished by the law would her world be completely tranquilized.
Maria was taken aback. Squinting her eyes, she asked, âYou already know that I planned the car accident back then?â
After all, it had been so many years. No one should know the truth of the matter back then.
âNo one would know only if you hadnât done it.â Dolores stressed each syllable.
âDid my brother tell you?â she told only Sampson.
Suddenly she felt as if the whole world had betrayed her. Matthew had abandoned her. Even her older brother, who loved her dearly, had told her secret to this woman.
Doloresâs heart was turned upside down. Did Sampson know that it was Mary who had planned the car accident then?
But he had told her plainly that it had been an accident.
Dolores wondered if he had said it deliberately to protect her younger sister.
Suddenly, Dolores remembered Sampsonâs abnormality that day. She asked him, âIn the future, if you found out I wasnât so nice, would you hate me?â
She wondered if it was because of this issue that he looked depressed that day.
Doloresâ silence turned into acquiescence to Maryâs opinion.
âHa, ha⦠Ha, ha, ha, haâ¦â Maria burst into wild laughter. She laughed so hard that tears came to her eyes. âWhat hypercritical love, all fake!â She had thought Sampson treated her really well.
She had never expected her not to be as important to him as this woman was.
What was so good about this woman?
Why did all the men favor her so much?
Theresa was surprised at the look on Maryâs face. She asked in a low voice, âLola, is she going crazy?â
Dolores shook her head.
âDolores Flores.â
Suddenly Maria stopped, looking at Dolores so viciously as if her eyes were filled with poison, she could kill Dolores just by looking at her. âDolores Flores, just wait!â
She as now the daughter of the Herbert Family now. There would be plenty of opportunities to kill Dolores for sure.
She had those opportunities before.
She would have more chances in the future.
âIâm waiting.â Dolores stood up, her charisma winning out over Mariaâs.
Knowing she would have no advantage if she continued to tangle with Dolores like this, Maria decided to leave and come up with another plan later.
She regretted being too careless and underestimating Dolores.
Now she was embarrassed in this way.
Coming down the steps, as she was about to drive, Maria saw the man walking towards them. Her eyes sparkled. She ran to him immediately. âMatthewâ¦â
