Boyce frowned slightly because the voice sounded familiar, but at the moment he couldn’t recognize it. The caller sensed that Boyce did not recognize her voice and said with disappointment, “This is Jasmine.”

Boyce suddenly realized this and said, “Oh, what’s up?”

“Are you free, can you come over this afternoon to see me?” She asked tenderly.

“I’ll wait for you at the university entrance.” She said.

“Okay.”

Jasmine frowned as she felt Boyce was very distant as his responses were singular.

“I’ll see you later then.” Jasmine said.

“Okay.”

Jasmine smiled as she looked at her phone as she ended the call. She had a phone. She didn’t give Boyce her number when he asked for it earlier because she didn’t trust him yet.

She wasn’t afraid of hardship and could survive even when she had no family. Her phone was very cheap and basic, but it was enough for her needs.

His academic results were good and this semester he was awarded some monetary scholarships. The monetary scholarships along with her salary as a part-time worker were enough for her expenses. She was sure that her living conditions would improve considerably after graduating and working for a couple of years.

Boyce drove her black SUV and pulled up in front of HQ University and saw Jasmine standing at the entrance of the University.

She was wearing a white top with straight cut skinny jeans. The jeans enhanced her long legs and she was wearing a pair of white sneakers and a black backpack. She wore her hair pulled back in a ponytail and looked young and energetic.

She ran to Boyce as soon as she saw him and said, “My apologies, I can’t invite you to college because all my friends know I have no relatives. I would invite rumors if they see me with you.”

“Come in,” Boyce said as he opened the doors.

Jasmine sat in the car and instructed him, “Please go straight and then turn right.”

Boyce didn’t ask her where she was taking him, but instead said, “What’s wrong?”

Jasmine looked at him and smiled, “Do I need a reason to see you?”.

“No.” Boyce smiled awkwardly and continued, “I usually get straight to the point. Please don’t be offended.”

“I know, I’m not offended.” She replied, but reflected on what her friend had said about Boyce not expressing himself in public.

Soon they arrived at the place Jasmine wanted to go and she motioned, “Pull over here.”

As soon as Boyce parked on the side of the road, she got out of the car and said, “Come with me.”

She headed toward a store called ‘Back for more noodles.’

Boyce looked around and this place was close to the University and had many restaurants. He got out of the car and walked into the noodle store and saw Jasmine placing his order. He frowned because he wasn’t sure what was going on. Did Jasmine call him just to eat some noodles.

“That’ll be it.” Jasmine said to the owner. She walked over to some empty seats and then motioned to Boyce, “Let’s sit here.” Boyce walked over and sat down as she instructed.

“Do you mind eating here?” The place was small but relatively clean, aside from the coating of oil on the glass partition, which was clearly old.

“Although it’s a simple joint, the noodles are very tasty.” Jasmine smiled and continued, “You’ve helped me a couple of times and now I should treat you in return.”

“Don’t think about it,” Boyce said casually.

Jasmine rolled her eyes as she thought to herself how boring this guy was. He showed no emotion from the moment she got into his car.

The owner served the dishes, which included a bowl of thin noodles and a plate with six different side dishes and vegetables and a bowl of sauce.

Jasmine pointed to the garnishes and vegetables and said, “These are the garnishes and you can add them as you wish. However, you must pour the sauce over the noodles.”

Boyce nodded and emptied the plate of garnishes and vegetables into his bowl. He added the sauce and began to mix them with the chopsticks. Jasmine smiled and asked Boyce, “Hey, what kind of woman do you like?”

Boyce startled and gave Jasmine a puzzled look.

“Oh, please don’t take this the wrong way. Last time your friend told me over breakfast that you’ve never had a relationship or a girlfriend. He even asked me if he could introduce you to a girlfriend. For that to happen, I need to know what kind of girl you are interested in.” said Jasmine as she ate the noodles.

Boyce took a deep breath and really wanted to give Armand a good spanking. How could Armand say something so personal to her? He felt so embarrassed and uncomfortable in front of Jasmine.

“He was talking nonsense. Don’t listen to him.” Boyce said angrily.

“Oh.” Jasmine swallowed her noodles and continued, “So you’re in a relationship now and currently have a girlfriend?”

Boyce was speechless.

He sighed softly and replied, “What I meant was that you don’t need to recommend me to anyone. I don’t like someone too young.” She was a college student and any of her friends would be her age.

What was this Armand thinking? He really questioned whether he was sane.

“So, have you ever been in a relationship?” asked Jasmine.

Boyce glared at her and replied, “Mind your own business.”

Jasmine pursed her lips and replied, “Then I don’t need to introduce you to a friend, do I?”

At first, Boyce smelled the noodles and was eager to try them, but now he had lost his appetite with all her questions.

He put down the chopsticks and then said sternly to Jasmine, “That friend of mine likes to talk nonsense. So don’t take his words seriously.”

“Okay. So, I’ll listen to you from now on?”. She smiled and looked at Boyce. Her smile was so beautiful and innocent that it easily tugged at Boyce’s heartstrings.

Boyce was momentarily stunned before he snapped back to reality and took a bite of the noodles and said, “Yes, listen to me from now on.”

Jasmine propped her chin with her arm and smiled at Boyce as she thought about how cute he was. Maybe “cute” was inappropriate to describe Boyce, but at this very moment, he was.

After they finished the noodles, Boyce sent her back to the University and left before she realized she had left her purse in her car, so she turned the car around.

When she arrived at the entrance to the University, she saw numerous people gathered at the entrance. She parked the car and walked over with Jasmine’s bag.

“That’s her. Last time I saw her clearly hanging out with several men at the nightclub. She’s playing innocent in college and pretending to be penniless. I can’t believe she’s penniless when she’s sold her body. She pretends to be poor and vulnerable to gain sympathy from guys. How shameless you are.”

This student was Elisa. Not only did she room in the same dormitory as Jasmine, but they were also classmates. She was upset that she had been overlooked and Jasmine had been chosen over her. She had held a grudge against Jasmine ever since because she always found her to be much more beautiful and attractive than Jasmine.
