It would be fine if Armand hadn’t said that. But the middle-aged man walked even faster and wiped his forehead from time to time after hearing what Armand said. He seemed to be scared for Armand.

“Do you know her, Boyce?” The restaurant manager asked Boyce because she had seen him chatting with Jasmine just now, they obviously knew each other.

But how could Boyce know a poor college girl with her background?

Boyce nodded. He knew the manager knew who he was as well as the relationship between him and Matthew. If he said anything to the student, the manager was sure to treat her well.

“Please take care of her, you know she just started working and doesn’t have much of a clue what society is like.”

The manager smiled, “Of course, as you already said. I know what to do.”

After some small talk with the manager, Boyce sat back down. Armand laughed at Boyce with a mocking expression. How cute was the story of a heroic rescue! It was really rare to see. But how did he get careless with the young lady?

Armand felt anxious about Boyce. At what point would he know how to win a woman’s heart? When would he be able to marry? He even went back to dinner instead of comforting that beauty!

It was a fantastic opportunity to ‘win her over’. It was easy for a student who had just started working to let himself be touched if he knew how to show off in front of her.

But this fool came back without doing anything!

Jasmine stared at Boyce’s back and then slowly looked down. She hadn’t expected to run into him here, let alone that he might save her again.

The manager patted Jasmine’s shoulder to encourage her, “Do what you can. I thought you had little background, but I didn’t expect you to know him, do you know what he does for a living?”.

Jasmine nodded without holding anything back. When they last met, he was the one who sent her the money. She remembered he was a criminal police captain from his presentation, which made her admire him.

She knew she had probably misunderstood him last time, as he was indifferent to her today.

The manager pointed to a mansion across the street, “He is quite close to the president of WY Group, did you meet him before?”.

Jasmine thought maybe yes. That day there were three men in the private room, now there were only two. But the manager asked her if she knew Mr. Nelson. Maybe the one who wasn’t here was the president of the WY Group.

“I may have met him before.” Jasmine answered truthfully.

The manager glanced meaningfully at Jasmine, she was young and beautiful, “As far as I know, they are all single.”

What the manager said seemed to imply that no matter who she messed with, it would be a winning situation for her. They were all rich, powerful and handsome.

It wasn’t easy to find people like that, she would have chosen them if she wasn’t married.

It was too late for a person of her age and looks.

Jasmine was still innocent and did not interpret its deep meaning, she could only consider it as gossip.

“Go clean the floor. Be more careful and smart next time.” The manager reminded Jasmine after glancing over to where Armand and Boyce were sitting.

Jasmine nodded her head, “Yes I will, it won’t happen again, I promise.”

She then grabbed the mop and rag to clean up all the glasses and the wetness.

“Don’t you have any compassion?” Armand looked at the slim figure of Jasmine squatting cleaning and asked Boyce.

“Psycho.” Boyce didn’t even look that way. He really had no idea about her, even though he was really trying to find a wife. But he knew it wouldn’t be her because she was too young and he was more than 12 years older than she was. He would feel guilty if he did.

He thought it was immoral to find a girlfriend at his age.

What if people misunderstood that she was his daughter? Wouldn’t that be too embarrassing?

Armand was quite annoyed with him. He finally decided to do something to rescue his best friend from the bachelor life. So he got up from his seat and glanced at Boyce, “You’re very lucky to have such a good friend like me, otherwise you’d be a bachelor forever.”

“What are you doing?” Boyce thought he was going to do something bad.

He was very upset.

Armand smiled, “Look at you! Of course I’m helping you get a wife.”

“Ar…”

Boyce wanted to stop him, but Armand, instead, was determined and walked toward Jasmine. He bent down to help pick up all the glass from the floor as he said, “Remember me, we met in the private room.”

Jasmine looked at him quickly and said, “Yes.”

“It was my best friend who solved your problem just now, may I know where you know each other from?”

Jasmine didn’t want to hide anything from him, but to tell him all about how they met in the first place.

“Oh, okay.” Armand smiled, “You know you have to be gentle with him sometimes, if he did something wrong, please don’t blame him. You know his work, don’t you?”

“Yes.” Jasmine admitted. She admired policemen a lot. Her mother suffered a lot because of her father. She knew everything. So she trusted the cops unconditionally and felt they were all fair.

Armand approached her and lowered his voice: “I’ll tell you a secret. He’s nothing but a boob who doesn’t know anything about love, did you know he’s never been in a relationship?”

Jasmine shook her head and thought that he must really be someone who didn’t know what love was.

“He’s a weirdo, isn’t he?”

“Yeah, a little.” Jasmine answered truthfully.

“But please don’t look down on him. He’s so innocent and pure, it’s seeing someone like him now.”

Jasmine felt like laughing.’Innocent’? It was funny to use that word on a man in his thirties.

Seeing those two people having a pleasant chat made Boyce feel a headache. He even wanted to kick Armand’s ass when Jasmine let out a giggle at something Armand said. Armand had suffered so much because of Theresa a while back, but now he was picking on a young girl?

And she was so young!

Did he feel sorry for her?

“I know you’re still studying. I’m sure you know a lot of girls, if you don’t mind, try to introduce some girls to my friend over there. You know, keep it a secret please, otherwise he’d be embarrassed.”

The expression of delight slowly disappeared on Jasmine’s face. She felt strange when she heard that Armand wanted her to find Boyce a girlfriend. “A college student? She’s too young for him.”

“I mean the ones about to graduate. Then the age difference would be 7 to 9 years, That’s acceptable! You know there are no women in his social circle, I doubted he was a gay.” Armand patted Jasmine’s shoulder, “Please do me this favor. I can’t see my friend being single for his whole life.”

Jasmine lowered her head and said, “ok.”

“That’s enough.” Boyce paid the bill and took the breakfast to go. He scolded Armand coolly. This guy was so shameless and so eager to hook up with the girls whenever there was an opportunity. He was going to tell Theresa to leave him no doubt.

Armand cleared his throat and stood up. He stared at Boyce who was looking grim, “Why are you upset, are you jealous because we had a good conversation?”

Jasmine unconsciously stopped mopping the floor and even waited for Boyce’s response.

Boyce said nothing, but turned and walked away. Armand chased after him and grabbed his collar, “Are you mad at me?”

Boyce said nothing.

“You don’t like her, but I do. I think I have a right to chase her.”

Boyce brushed him off, “Please don’t be so cheeky.”

Armand was still smiling and went back to the company with him.

They met Abbott as they had just exited the elevator, Boyce asked him, “Did Charles leave yet?”

Abbott replied, “Not yet, he’s in Mr. Nelson’s office.”

Charles had been in the president’s office for a long time, but Matthew didn’t want to talk to him.

Charles sighed, he looked like he felt sorry for him, “I don’t understand why Dolores fell for you you’re so mean.”
