After seeing Charles White looking at Dolores Flores, Chester Powell, who was talking business with him, lowered his head and asked, “Do you know her?”

Charles shook his head and said, “No.”

It wasn’t that Charles wanted to deny their relationship on purpose, he just didn’t want Chester to know about the relationship between him and Dolores. They were talking business. He didn’t want to expose his private life to others.

He calmly ordered Tom, “Let’s go.”

Tom glanced at Dolores and lowered his head to look at Charles. He sighed in his heart. He followed him every day, how could he go on not knowing what Charles was thinking?

The colder his face got, the warmer her heart got.

Dolores was concentrating on easing the uncomfortable atmosphere. She didn’t notice Charles’ appearance.

She put down the glass of juice she had finished and looked at everyone, “We all come from different places, but now we are gathered in this place. I think it’s about fate. I hope we can get along.”

“Of course. A moment ago it was I who offended you. I asked what I shouldn’t have asked.” The woman who initiated the question answered immediately.

At first she was just curious and didn’t want to antagonize anyone. Dolores was right, they were all going to work together. If they argued, it was going to be awkward since they were going to meet frequently.

“Come on, let’s have a tea toast. Let’s not talk about the past.

Sometimes, we would even bite our tongues. No doubt, we would have some conflict. However, after drinking this cup of tea, this matter is over. We are still good colleagues.” Theresa Gordon lifted her cup of tea first. She lifted her cup and clinked the cup with the others.

Dolores and Theresa had said all these words. No one wanted to talk about this matter any further.

After they finished eating, Oscar helped Dolores say a few words to everyone. He wanted to thank everyone and also hope that everyone could stick together and get along with each other.

Compared to the other bosses, they were considered very approachable. They only came to work for a short period of time, but they had a dinner meeting together. They were all very satisfied. They were also willing to work responsibly. Their salary was not too low and no one disliked the money.

After the reunion dinner was over, everyone was taken back by Oscar. Dolores and Theresa brought the children and went out the back door.

It looked like this reunion dinner didn’t take long but it was completely dark outside. When they arrived, it was still light. Dolores opened the door of the car that was parked on the shoulder for the two children to get into the car.

“Can I talk to you?”

At that moment, a voice was heard behind her. It sounded familiar but she didn’t dare confirm it. Dolores slowly turned her body and saw Charles in a wheelchair on the side of the road. She was a little stunned, why was Charles here?

“Do you have time?” After seeing that Dolores did not respond, Charles asked again.

Dolores came to her senses and nodded her head yes. She looked at Theresa, “Take the two children first.”

Andrew tugged at the corner of his clothes, “Mom, come back early. My sister and I will wait for you.”

It wasn’t that he disliked Charles. However, he feared Charles would make a move to steal his mom when his dad wasn’t around.

If she really had to choose, she would definitely choose her biological father.

Besides, his mom and dad hadn’t split up because of a bad relationship.

Charles had suddenly appeared and he had to watch out for him.

He had to protect his mom for his dad. He couldn’t let anyone take her away from him.

Dolores didn’t realize that her son had been thinking so much in his mind. She just thought he was worried about her. He reached out and touched her head. He smiled as he said, “I know. I’ll be back soon.”

Theresa glanced at the edge of the road. She quickly looked away and started the car to drive away.

After watching the car drive away, Dolores only turned to look at Charles. She asked herself the question in her mind, “Why are you here?”

“I’m here to talk business. My company is in a lot of trouble. I have to go out to expand my business. I couldn’t let the White Family business go bankrupt in my hands.

Otherwise, I would let down my adoptive father.” He said with a peaceful and calm tone. However, he was really tired and busy these days.

Although his company had not gone bankrupt, he had suffered heavy losses and had retired from real estate.

In the past, Dolores did not know all this. However, after setting up an embroidery workshop and a weaving factory, she knew that it was not easy to manage a business.

Even though she didn’t have many people in her factory, she still encountered many issues.

Someone was about to argue when they were holding the dinner meeting today. It was certain that there would be conflicts if there were people.

“Shall we take a walk?” suggested Charles.

Dolores said yes. They didn’t particularly choose a place to go. They just walked in a straight line along the roadside without a destination.

“I’m afraid I have to take back my words. I said I would never see you again but now I meet you again.” He lowered his eyes.

He was really determined when he said he would not return to B-Town. He had already used all his courage and persistence to tell himself that it was time to let go.

The heavens allowed them to meet again. What did that mean?

Was it because he wasn’t inferior enough? Or did the heavens want to mock him again? He knew they weren’t going to have a good ending, but why was he still daydreaming?

Dolores said nothing. She merely took light steps as she walked beside him.

“Why are you here?” In fact, she wanted to ask if there was a relationship problem between her and Matthew Nelson. However, she didn’t rush to ask this. These were not good words.

She didn’t show up here alone. Her two sons were following her. So, she had given this more thought.

“I had something to do. Therefore, I’m here.” Dolores didn’t know how to talk about her business. She also thought her identity was too absurd.

Charles knew Dolores was not telling the truth after hearing her words. The words were too tepid.

However, he did not unmask her. He implicitly asked, “Are you related to him?”. They both understood that the word ‘him’ referred to Matthew.

Dolores said calmly, “We’re fine. Don’t think too much.”

Charles laughed, “I was gloating a bit just now. I really expected you to be here because he loved someone else and you were heartbroken, so you came here to heal the wound of your relationship. Then, the heavens would have allowed us to meet again so I could take care of you.”

“You could be a screenwriter.”

“I hope I could shed the clutter from my hands to live freely. However, as a human, I could not be ruthless. I couldn’t just walk away.” He felt lost as he looked ahead. Charles, who used to cover his happiness and sadness with a smile, could not pretend to smile at that moment.

Dolores felt that she had encountered some issues after hearing his words. She asked him with concern, “Does your company have some problems?”.

Her concern did not instill any feelings of a person in a relationship. She just wanted to show her feelings toward the problems he had.

Charles made a soft sound as he agreed.

“Is the competition from the same industry too fierce?” asked Dolores.

“No. Someone is expressing personal anger.” Charles clearly knew it wasn’t just fierce same-industry competition. All three of the White Group’s major businesses were having problems at the same time. That clearly showed that someone had planned well how to deal with him.

Dolores frowned. Doing business was like a war without gunpowder. They could do anything to profit.

However, Dolores understood that his words meant the matter was a personal grudge, “How did you offend someone and let them hate you so much?”

Charles stopped his wheelchair. Dolores stopped her steps as well. He raised his head and looked at her. He didn’t speak. He just looked at her silently in the dim light.

Dolores reached out and touched his face, “Is there something on my face? Why are you looking at me like that?”

He shook his head. His eyes flickered with some uncertainty, “I lusted after someone’s wife and she did all this to me, do I deserve this?”
