âI donât have time.â Dolores turned him down sharply and took Matthew by the hand to get into the car. Sean walked a few steps closer to them, his eyes a little red-rimmed, âDolores⦠maybe I shouldnât call you thatâ¦â
âWhat do you want?â Dolores suddenly cut him off fiercely.
Sean hadnât expected Dolores to have such a big answer, but then he understood why she had reacted that way.
It was clear to him why he had almost fainted outside the Harris Familyâs door that day.
That day, after seeing Doloresâ car leave the Harris Family house, she had not turned around to look for Tommy. Instead, she had returned to the Harris home with the intention of asking Jeffery if he had done anything to Dolores again. This was because Doloresâ situation had not seemed good at the time, so he had wanted to set the record straight. When he pushed open the door to the house, he saw Marina standing in surprise in the living room with a strange expression. It was only when she saw her son return that she came to her senses.
Marina had asked Dolores to stay for dinner, but Dolores had ignored her. Marina had thought she had done something wrong to make Dolores angry, which was why she had been in a daze in the living room.
But once she saw her son, she didnât care about anything else. She rushed over, âYouâre back? Just in time, Iâve done a lot of dishes, keep me company for dinner tonight.â
Sean didnât feel like dinner, so he asked, âWhereâs Dad?â.
Marina frowned, âWhy are you looking for Dad when youâre back?â.
â± â³Å¦â¬$ŧ Ãнâ³Ã¾Å§Ã«ÑÅ 1Ï Ä alиoνεļÅ.âµÃâ¥
She knew her son and her husband didnât get along, so she was very worried. Especially when Sean was asking about his father in such an accusatory tone. Even more so when he didnât dare let him and Jeffery meet.
Marina tugged at her son, worried that he was going to look for Jeffery, âWhy are you looking for your father?â
âDid Dolores just come? Did she meet Dad?â Sean looked at his own mother and his tone was considerate of her kindness. Although he was prejudiced against Jeffery, but he respected his mother.
Marina nodded her head.
Sean chuckled coldly, âNo wonder she almost passed out in the doorway, what has Dad done again?â
Speaking of Jeffery, Sean was so angry he gritted his teeth.
Marina was stunned for a moment, wondering in her heart if Dolores and Jeffery had had an argument in the study room. Was that why Dolores didnât even respond when he had asked her to stay for dinner?
âWhere is she?â asked Sean.
Marina didnât dare answer him. If Sean was going to see Jeffery like this, an argument was sure to break out.
âOther than going out with dirty tactics with Eddie at home, I think heâd normally like to stay in his study room.â Sean was a little sympathetic to Jeffery. He pushed Marinaâs hand away and headed for the study room. Without knocking on the door, he kicked it open roughly. With a crash, the door slammed against the wall.
âJeffery, what do you wantâ¦â
He called out Jefferyâs name, but before he could finish his question, he saw Jeffery lying on the floor. Sean was shocked for a second. He hadnât even finished his question, why, why was he lying on the floor?
Fearing that her son and husband would get into an argument, Marina had come over as well. Seeing her husband lying on the floor, she screamed in shock. Quickly, she ran to him: âOld man, whatâs wrong? Stop scaring me.â
Jeffery had not fainted. Because he was too excited, a thrombosis had occurred.
Coupled with a strong emotional impact, this had increased the load on his heart.
These extreme emotions had led to a stroke.
His health was normally good, but he had already fainted once. He was almost sixty years old, regardless of his health, he could not be as fit as when he was young. Not to mention the impact on his emotions, hence he was not able to handle it all at once.
His eyes were wide open, his mouth tilted to one side and he was unable to speak, his hands and legs were restless.
Marina was so shocked that tears came to her eyes. She shouted to Sean, who stood stunned in the doorway, âStop standing there, send your father to the hospital quickly, do you want to see him die?â.
At that moment, Sean came to his senses and ran to carry Jeffery. After all, this was his biological father, no matter how much discontent he had in his heart, he would still be very concerned about his health. He was exceptionally strong, but it still took some effort to carry Jeffery. He could see the veins throbbing in Jefferyâs forehead. As Sean carried Jeffery upward, the paper that was clenched in Jefferyâs fists fell to the floor. Thatâs when Marina saw that there was something in his hands. She reached out to pick it up. Just as she was about to read the contents, Sean yelled, âHurry.â
She had to drive the car and someone needed to take care of Jeffery in the car.
Marina anxiously put the paper in her pocket and ran out with it. Sean put Jeffery in the back seat of the car and she followed hugging Jeffery to keep him from falling out.
Sean was driving the car in front.
This worried Jeffery and Sean was driving very fast. Even so, it took over twenty minutes to get to the hospital.
Jeffery was sent to the emergency room. Sean paced anxiously down the hallway, muttering to himself, âHis body is usually very healthy, how could this happenâ¦â
The Jeffery of his memory, he was always in uniform, tall and erect, always with a serious face. It was as if people owed him money. Why would this happen all of a sudden?
âMomâ¦â Sean turned to look at Marina, wanting to ask her what had happened between Dolores and Jeffery. Why were they both hurt? Instead, he saw Marina leaning against the wall and reading the letter.
Why did she still feel like reading the letter now?
Sean stood in front of her, âMom, my father andâ¦â
âLook at this.â Before he could finish his words, he was cut off by Marina, and passed the letter in her hands.
Sean didnât understand, âWhat is this?â
âYouâll understand everything when you read this.â Marina passed the letter back to him.
This time, Sean took the letter. Although Marina wasnât as excited as Jeffery, she was also surprised by this letter. She gripped the wall and slowly walked to a row of chairs to sit down.
Now she understood why her husband⦠gosh â she couldnât help but sigh.
Sean glanced at Marina and hesitated for a moment. He didnât move closer, but instead lowered his head to read the letter. The first thing that entered his eyes were the two words, âDear Brother.â He continued reading.
âDear Brother.
If you can see this letter, it means that I am no longer alive. Donât be sad about this, donât be depressed for me. It was all my choice.
I have done many bad things in my life, and I have done wrong to many people. The person I regret the most is Jayden. Even though I married him, I have never done my part as a wife.
I selfishly wanted to stick by Stanley, and ridiculously found another woman for Jayden. This is another person with whom I have regrets. When he met me, he lost his partner, and became a mistress who couldnât see the light of day.
So far, I guess you can guess something. Yes, Matthew is not my biological son. He is Victoria and Jaydenâs biological son. I felt I owed Jayden something. To give the child legitimate status, as well as not to worry you and Dad, I told the public that Matthew was my son. I had fooled everyone with the truth.
In the past, even though it was said that the two families would marry, you wanted to separate me and Stanley. You thought he was a bastard son. Yesâ¦I know our family would not get along with this kind of person. But, I love him, and even though he is a heinous sinner, I am willing to go to the deepest valleys of hell with him when I die.
Jeffery, as I write this letter, what I regret most is that I have agreed to marry Jayden. I have hurt him, and I have hurt an innocent woman. I understand your temper, Iâm sure you think my marriage broke up because of Victoria. However, that is not so, it was all caused by me.
I am the guilty one and the sinner.
Jeffery, I have something else to tell you. I am pregnant and the baby is Stanleyâs. Iâve already done the checks and itâs a girl. I have already told Jayden that I hope he can pair up with Matthew. Once again, I selfishly wished for my daughter to make up for my mistakes towards the Nelson Family.
As of the time of writing here, I have realized that I am a failed human being. I am not fit to be anyoneâs wife and mother. If I could choose again, I would not have given in, I would not have hurt another person because of my own selfishness, and I would have let myself live in pain and regret.
Jolene.â
