Dolores Flores knew that if there wasnât a good enough reason, she wouldnât be able to convince Boyce Shawn. The reason she chose to send him the message was because she could trust him, and she also believed she could keep it a secret.
âIâm going to go see Charles White.â She had been to Charlesâ house last time, and she knew the hotel where he resided.
Boyce twisted the corner of his eyes; he clearly knew how Matthew Nelson hated Charles so much.
âBoyce, considering you and Matthew have been brothers for a long time, what do you think I should do?â Actually, Dolores was conflicted within herself.
She was afraid that, through her own selfishness, she would make Matthew regret it.
After all, Victoria Forbis was his mother.
Boyce was puzzled, âWhat do you mean?â
âI mean, if Victoria is Matthewâs real mother, should I tell him?â She stared at Boyceâs face, for she wanted an answer that would calm her down.
âHow is that possible? Itâs totally impossible.â Boyce refused to believe it.
This was unthinkable.
Victoria was Matthewâs mother?
Stop making these kinds of jokes.
âWhat Iâm saying is true. If itâs true, should I tell you?â Doloresâ expression and voice clearly did not seem to be joking. Boyce then fell silent.
After a moment, Boyce spoke slowly, âI donât know, but I think it would probably be difficult to deal with. Tell him that the person heâs resented for a long time is actually his real mother? What kind of behavior and state of mind should he use to deal with this issue?â
He turned his head toward Dolores, âIs this real?â
She felt this was too strange; Victoria was Matthewâs mother?
âThe marriage of Jolene Harris and Jayden Nelson is between two clans, have you heard of this?â Dolores pursed her lips and her voice sounded gravelly.
She sensed that fate was playing tricks on people.
âI had heard of it.â
âThat time, Jolene liked someone else, and she had no feelings for Jayden. After the wedding, the two were respectful and kind to each other as close friends, and had no body contact. Jolene felt sorry for Jayden, so she wanted to find a woman to be with him.â
âThat woman is Victoria?â Boyce just felt shocked. How could there be such a thing.
Was she looking for a woman for her husband?
Was it just because he didnât like her?
âYou probably know the strength of the Harris family. Jolene wanted to give this child a legitimate identity, so she lied. No one in the Harris family knew, and only those involved knew the truth.â He did not elaborate on the details of the matter.
Boyce didnât know what to say.
âBut why are you going to see Charles? Donât tell me this affair has anything to do with Charles?â Boyce thought this old affair had to do with a lot of people.
âSince youâve been to White City, you may have some idea of Charlesâ life story. Heâs Nathan Whiteâs adopted son, while Nathan was Victoriaâs first loveâ¦. That time, Jeffery Harris discovered the relationship between Victoria and Jayden, and felt that Victoria was the third party destroying his sisterâs marriageâ¦â
Somehow, Boyce had figured it all out. That time in White City and Kevin Forbis and the watered gauze were connected to the Forbis family.
âCharles had found the doctor who delivered Victoriaâs baby. His goal is to join forces with Matthew and take down Jeffery. His foster father was harmed by Jeffery when he was alive.â Dolores explained.
âYou donât want Matthew to know about this?â even though it was a question, she had a positive mood.
Dolores clasped her hands together; she felt uncomfortable from the ambivalence, âI think itâs unfair to him, as he has to face the consequences of things done by the past generation. If Jeffery knows the truth, I donât know how things will end up.â
âThe hatred Jeffery has for Victoria, donât you see it from your perspective? When theyâre around each other, heâs like a lunatic. If he knew the truthâ¦â
Wasnât it obvious? Things would get crazy.
âI donât know. And if he knew, would he be mad at me?â Dolores choked a little, as this matter posed a difficult problem for her.
âRemember your original intention. About future things, just think about them in the future. I think Matthew will understand why you are doing this. Perhaps, this secret will be buried as time goes by.â Boyce pulled the car over to the side of the road. He didnât know how to comfort Dolores, so he passed her a tissue.
Dolores didnât take it; she wiped the corners of her eyes, âIâm fine.â
It wasnât for herself, but she felt bad for Matthew.
Boyce looked at her face. She was always thin, even when she was pregnant; she didnât put on any weight at all and looked very weak. However, when she did things, she didnât look like she couldnât handle her difficulty.
She and Victoria were very close; perhaps it was because they knew this horrendous past.
Now, Charles brought this matter back, but she still dealt with it calmly, and minimized the damage caused by this matter.
If she thought about this incident coolly, then it would be better for everyone, no matter what perspective they see it from.
If Matthewâs parentage was revealed, would he be considered an illegitimate child?
Not only would he be judged by others of his identity, but also how could he accept being deceived for a long time?
Should he hate himself or hate those who deceived him?
If the truth came out, which everyone would be in an uproar about, what might change? Who would benefit from it?
Boyce reactivated the car and drove, âSomehow I understand why Matthew likes you.â
His voice was low, and Dolores didnât hear him clearly, âHmm?â
âNothing.â Boyce concentrated on driving the car.
Soon they arrived at the hotel. Boyce stopped the car and got out. He went to Doloresâ side, grabbed the wheelchair from the back and helped her out of the car.
Boyce pushed her to the elevator. When they reached that floor, she turned her gaze to Boyce, âWait here for me.â
âLet me come in with you.â He was worried as Charles knew her thoughts; he was also the one who had brought her here, so he had to ensure her safety.
âAll right then.â Anyway, he knew and there was nothing to hide.
When they reached the door to the room, Boyce rang the doorbell. Quickly, the door opened. Charles was not at all surprised when he saw Dolores.
She had purposely interrupted him by the hospital, and he knew she wouldnât want Matthew to find out.
Charles had anticipated that Dolores would come, so he let Tom go back to his room.
He looked at Boyce, âI want to talk to Dolores in private.â
âHer body now is still not well; I have to keep an eye on her.â Boyceâs attitude was clear and stern.
Charles laughed, âYou are able to come with her, so presumably you know what this is about. You have to understand that the initiative is mine. I can choose not to argue.â
Boyceâs look changed.
âBoyce, itâs okay. You stay by the door. If anything comes up, Iâll call you.â Dolores looked at him and shook her head to keep him from being impetuous, âHe wouldnât do anything to me.â
Boyce glanced at Charles, and turned and walked out of the room.
Charles closed the door and looked at Dolores. He made no effort to hide his feelings for her, âTell me, do you think I should be happy or sad.â
