âIf I had a choice, I wouldnât choose to be your son!â Sean shook off Marinaâs hands and ran out of the house.
Marina sat on the couch and cried. She also complained about Jeffery: âOur son has grown up and you still talk so harshly. If it were me, Iâd be angry about it too. You were always busy since he was born. The days you stayed in the Army were more than the days you stayed at home. When he was a child, he was like a child without a father. When he grew up, you asked him to join the military just for a word, and even beat him when he was unwilling to join the army. How could he listen to you? Did you do what a father does? You always say he rebelled-why donât you think about why he rebelled so much against you?â
As she spoke, she felt more and more aggrieved. Marina also felt aggrieved because she had to take care of the house by herself. Since her husband was a stubborn man, he did not want to be nice to her. To make matters worse, her husband and her only son fought every time they met. Of course, this home didnât feel like home.
Marina cried sadly and tears rolled down her cheeks.
Jeffery complained, âYouâre not a child anymore, why do you keep crying? Shame on you if others see you crying.â
Marina suddenly stood up and said, âI want to cry and I will cry here. I want all the neighbors to know so that you lose your image.â
âYou are irrational!â Jeffery got angry and turned to leave.
Marina stopped him, âJeffery, Iâm serious. I will divorce you if you argue with Noah again in the future.â
Jeffery was perplexed. Marina had conducted the affairs of the household diligently and had never disobeyed him after she married him. She hadnât even said she wanted a divorce over the years.
âAre you crazy?â
âYes, I am crazy! Iâve gone crazy because of you. Did I ever ask you for anything after I married you? What I want is for us to get along like a family. I always support you, whatever you do, and I never say no to you. But have you ever been tolerant with me? Have you ever taken my feelings into account?â. Marina spoke of her complaints over the years with her face covered in tears, âHow many days were you by my side when I was pregnant? When I was pregnant, I went alone to the hospital for body checks. In the last stage of my pregnancy, I would get cramps in my legs and couldnât even sleep at night. Where were you at that time, my husband, the father of my child? You never cared about me.â
Jeffery was pinned to the floor. It was the first time Marina had ever lost herself and talked so much in front of him.
As hard as her heart was, she still had feelings.
He admitted that he had been busy with his career during his younger days and paid less attention to his family.
However, he did not want to admit his mistake.
It was his character. Jeffery could not bend over backwards to calm his wife and ask for forgiveness, even if he realized he had been wrong.
Jeffery walked over to Marina and took a tissue to wipe away her tears, âDonât be mad, okay?â
Marina turned away and didnât speak.
Jeffery sighed, âWeâre at this age now, do you still want me to calm you down?â. Marina cried harder.
Jeffery was a straight man and didnât know how to be nice to his wife. Marina never doubted his love and also believed that Jeffery would not cheat on her.
Marina knew his character well after living with him most of her life. She couldnât help but sigh. It was impossible to ask Jeffery to apologize to her. Marina said divorcing him to scare him off. They wouldnât really divorce.
However, she felt wronged in her heart.
No woman wished to be unloved.
Marina was an ordinary woman who also wished to be loved.
She pushed Jeffery away, turned and walked into the room.
Jeffery stayed in the living room, and he was in a bind.
He didnât know what to do.
It was the first time in his life that he didnât know what to do.
He sat down on the couch and heaved a deep sigh.
She didnât go to Matthew.
Sean left the house. He went to Armand instead of Matthew.
Armand had drawn up the accusation at the time. Sean stopped him as he was about to go to the courthouse.
âArmand, can I talk to you for a few minutes?â
âIâm not free right now,â Armand resolutely refused to talk to Sean. He was busy, and he wasnât free to fool around with Sean.
Sean didnât care what Armand wanted to do. He pulled Armand toward somewhere with no one around. Armand glared at him, âThatâs enough. Iâm busy now.â Sean continued walking forward as he said, âIâm not making sense.â Armand followed as he saw Seanâs anxious face.
They walked to a quiet spot that was next to the tree, and stopped there.
Sean looked at Armand with a straight face, âTell me, who framed Dolores?â.
Armand frowned and asked him in turn, âYou donât know?â.
He thought Sean must not be unaware of what Jeffery did, since he was his son.
Sean narrowed his eyes, âWas it my father?â.
Sean wasnât sure about it and asked in a hesitant tone. He wished this matter had nothing to do with Jeffery for sure.
However, Armand smacked him upside the head with his answer, âWhy do you keep asking me if you already know?â
Sean didnât come to his senses for a few seconds. He thought, âHow could he possibly relate to Jeffery?â
âWhy would Jeffery do this?â he pondered.
âHey, are you okay?â Armand patted Seanâs shoulder, âI have to go now. I still have some business to do,â Armand turned to leave, but he seemed to have thought of something. He turned again and looked at Sean, âIf you have time, go convince your father. You can discuss peacefully without hurting feelings.â
Sean snorted, âHe always behaves selfishly. He doesnât listen to the words of others. No one can convince him.â
Armand looked at him and knew Sean could do nothing about it. He put his palm on Seanâs shoulder, âTake care of yourself.â
Armand knew that Sean must be in an awkward position between his father and Matthew.
Armand left quickly after speaking.
âArmand, do you know where Dolores is now?â Sean wanted to see Dolores and wondered how she was doing.
Armand was about to tell him the actual place where Dolores was staying, but then he was quick to say, âI donât know.â
It was better for Dolores that no one disturb her at that time, as her physical state was weak. Matthew also wished that Dolores would not be disturbed so that she could rest.
It was obvious that Armand knew where Dolores was. Sean stopped him, âI wonât let you go if you donât tell me.â
Armand looked at him, âWhy are you being so childish?â.
Sean ignored him. In a word, Sean wouldnât let Armand go if Armand didnât tell him.
Armand couldnât do anything with Sean, âIâll tell you, but donât tell Matthew that it was me who told you where Dolores is.â
Sean said, âOkay.â
Armand finally told him the hospital where Dolores was, and then Sean let him go.
Sean parted ways with Armand and drove straight to the hospital where Dolores was.
Sean parked his car and entered the hospital. He found that Matthew had sealed off the floor where Dolores was.
No one was allowed to go to the apartment at all.
There were policemen and Matthewâs men, they guarded all entrances and exits.
âIâm a friend of Miss Flores, could you pass her a message that Iâm here? Iâm sure sheâll see me,â Charles said sitting in the wheelchair. He knew the Dolores affair since the Herbert Family had made a lot of noise about her. He took some time to find out where Dolores was.
Sean saw that the person far away, who was watching at the entrance, stopped someone there. He walked over to Charles and looked at him. Sean didnât know him at all, âWho are you?â
