Officer Sharp, the newcomer, was not easy to deal with. Officer Sharp glanced at Dolores, who was still in shock. He smiled and turned to Boyce: âBoyce, do you think Iâm stupid? Would the gun be in her hand if it was you who shot to kill Sampson?â
âShe picked it up,â Boyce was still doing his best to justify Dolores.
âOh, she picked up the gun. The law would defend her from injustice, and that would be good for her,â he paused significantly before smiling and saying, âI hope we can get her fingerprint off the gun to exonerate her.â
Then he issued an order, âTake her away.â
Boyce and Armand looked at each other without saying a word, and they understood each other: Boyce pushed aside the police officers who stood in his way while Armand grabbed Dolores by the hands and tried to step out of the circle.
Officer Sharp seemed to have precautions for this. Seven or eight people rushed Boyce and Armand, then solidly blocked the hallway as soon as they moved.
Armand was unable to run out of the crowd with Dolores.
Dolores was petrified with fear as Sampson rushed to her side to snatch the gun from her hand and it went off.
Dolores thought she was not a cowardly person. However, she was stunned with fear when she saw Sampson, lying on the ground with his body covered in blood.
When she came to her senses, the pistol fell to the floor from her hand. Her nature recovered at the sound of the gun hitting the floor.
He could probably sum up the situation at a glance.
Officer Sharp again gave the order, âTake her away.â
Five or six policemen made a circle, with Boyce and Armand in the center, to prevent the two from moving again.
Officer Sharp was wearing gloves and picked up the pistol from the floor and put it in a plastic bag.
He glanced at Boyce, who wanted to move, but could not, shook the bag in his hand and said, âThis is the evidence.â
Boyce squinted and wanted to play hardball without caring about the consequences.
Dolores sensed what Boyce wanted to do, so she shook her head at him. She knew it was a trap. If Boyce and Armand played hardball, they wouldnât be able to take her, but they would get into that trouble.
âI made a call to him,â she said calmly.
Boyce immediately pulled his phone out of his pocket. Officer Sharp looked at Boyce. He could take Dolores legally, but he couldnât stop Boyce from contacting others. What he had to do was take Dolores back to the police station.
Sean paced the living room of Matthewâs house. He looked at Samuel and Simona, who were sitting on the couch.
He muttered, âHow come I didnât notice that before?â Samuel and Simona were Matthewâs children.
She couldnât stay home after learning about Dolores and Matthewâs relationship. She wanted to go see Matthew to confirm her thought.
However, it was true.
âMr. Lee, whatâs wrong with you?â Samuel didnât know what was wrong with Sean.
Sean had been staring at Samuel and Simona for half an hour. Sean kept muttering every now and then â why was he acting possessed?
Sean sat across from Samuel, âTell me honestly, have you been hiding something from me?â
Samuel said faithfully, âNo.â
âReally?â
Sean displayed an attitude of disbelief.
âMr. Lee taught me never to tell lies, so what I have said is true.â Sean was confident that Samuel would not lie.
âI believe in you. I have your back in the future,â Sean put his hand around Samuel like good friends, âLetâs go to your room and see.â
Victoria was preparing dinner. Sean wasnât going to the old house. Sean was going to the old house because Matthew had moved into the house.
Out of politeness, Victoria said, âLetâs have dinner together later.â
Sean didnât answer her.
Matthew had difficulties with Victoria, while Jeffery was incompatible with Victoria like fire and water. So Sean also turned his back on her.
Simona had developed affection with Victoria after moving into the house. When she saw that Sean was ignoring Victoria, she got up from the couch and ran to Victoria to hug her legs, âGrandma, what are you going to cook for me?â.
Victoria pulled her up, âWhat do you want to eat, Iâll cook it for you.â
Simona cocked her head to one side and for a moment didnât know what to eat.
Victoria hugged her and sat down on the couch, âTake your time.â
Matthew finished reviewing the paperwork sent by Abbott in the study. He looked at the time and picked up the phone on the desk to call Dolores. She had been gone a long time and should have sent Jessica home and should be back.
Matthew did not call Dolores and instead received a call from Boyce. He took the call.
Boyce said with a rushed sound on the other end of the phone, âWe have a situation here. Officer Sharp took Dolores to the police station.â
Matthew gripped the phone tightly, âWhatâs going on?â
Boyce couldnât explain clearly on the call, âIâll meet you at the police station.â
Matthew hung up and grabbed the coat that was on the chair, then left the studio.
Simona asked Matthew before he left, âIs Dad coming out?â
Matthew looked at Simona and gave her a sweet smile, âDad has something to do. Iâll go out for a while and be back soon.â
Simona nodded as quick as chopping garlic and smiled sweetly at him.
The smile melted Matthewâs heart. He walked over to Simona and kissed her forehead and rubbed her soft hair.
Victoria looked at the time and it was getting late, âWill you be back for dinner?â. Matthew hurried out and didnât hear what Victoria said. He got into the car and quickly put it in gear and drove to the police station.
He drove very fast, so it didnât take him long to get to the police station.
Armand and Boyce walked down the driveway like a chicken with its head cut off.
They approached Matthewâs car when they saw him enter the police station.
Matthew opened the car door and stepped out of the car. He was wearing a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up and showed half of his muscular arms. The collar and back of the shirt were wrinkled. When he took care of business, he leaned back in his chair and the back of his shirt wrinkled. His collar was wrinkled because Simona sat on it and rubbed it with her body.
Matthew said in a gravelly voice, âWhatâs wrong?â Armand didnât dare tell Matthew the truth.
Indeed, it was not a trivial matter.
âIt was our fault,â Armand lowered his head.
It was his fault for not protecting Dolores well.
Matthew grew impatient and said sternly, âI ask you, who stopped her?â
It was not the right time to pursue responsibility. Matthew wanted to know what had happened to Dolores.
Boyce approached Matthew and answered in a hoarse voice, âSomeone from the police station.â
Matthew had reached the end of his patience. Blue veins peeked from the corner of his forehead, âGo on with your words.â
Boyce plucked up his courage and said, âDolores was sad in the bottom of her heart when she saw Jessica come in by herself. So, she asked me to join her for a drink, and I agreed to her request. We went to a quiet bar. She went to the bathroom during this period. Soon Armand and I heard gunshots. We went to look for Dolores and saw Sampson pouncing on her. We did not have time to stop Sampson and then we heard two shots again. After that, Sampson was dead and Dolores was holding the gun.â
âWerenât your men watching Sampson?â said Matthew. âHow could Sampson have gotten out of custody?â. wondered Matthew.
Boyce continued his words, âAfter Sampson hit the ground, soon a bunch of cops swooped down on Dolores and Sampson. It was a trap. Otherwise, they would not have arrived in such a timely manner. The fact that Sampson is able to get out of custody means that the person behind this is not simple.â
