Dolores resolutely refused, âIf you donât accept an amount, I wonât be able to go in with you.â
Sean raised his hand, âDo you think you have another option?â.
Dolores was speechless.
âI donât care. I canât follow you in, no matter what.â Doloresâ attitude was firm.
Sean was puzzled. She wasnât asking him to do anything against his conscience or break the law. He was just asking her to go with him to meet someone. Why was she refusing like that?
âIs there anyone you know there?â Sean asked coyly, âIs there anyone you donât want to see?â
She had just met him, their friendship wasnât deep and she didnât want to talk about herself with him.
Dolores faltered under Seanâs gaze, âI just donât want to appear before them in handcuffs. Not knowing what happened, they might think Iâve committed a crime.â
Sean was stunned for a moment. He looked at the handcuffs on his wrist, frowning. It was the first time someone had set him up.
However, it was done and there was nothing he could do about it.
Although appearing like this in front of people was embarrassing and even deceitful.
âThis person is very important to me. What am I going to do if he doesnât go?â Sean also felt helpless.
Suddenly, he came up with a brilliant idea: âIf you donât want to see anyone, Iâll give you my equipment.â
Saying this, he handed the glasses to Dolores and asked Fatty to give him a mask.
Dolores was speechless.
âThere is no other solution. I must see this person.â Her attitude was very firm, as if Dolores had said no and was giving her the runaround.
With no better option, Dolores could only accept.
Putting on her mask and glasses, she glanced in the rearview mirror of the car. When she was sure her face wasnât showing at all, she breathed a sigh of relief.
She looked at Sean, âWhen you said you wouldnât accept a fee from me, you were serious, werenât you?â
The fee was indeed a lot of money. It wasnât that she was stingy and wanted to take advantage of him; he had said so himself.
It wasnât true that she wasnât going to give him anything at all, and that she was going to give some money when the time came. After all, he was on the front line and his appearance fees were not low. She couldnât treat him badly for her own publicity.
Sean looked at her very seriously, âAs long as youâre with me, Iâll vouch for you for free, can you trust me?â
Dolores nodded, âIâm not taking advantage of you. Iâve looked into what you do clearly, and I know that an endorsement starts at a minimum of a million. We can start at the minimum price and consider how you give me a discount, Iâll appreciate your kindness.â
Sean smiled, âYouâve calculated everything so clearly?â.
âAs the saying goes, even between brothers, accounts must be settled unambiguously. I will not make you suffer loss.â Dolores said sincerely.
Friendship was friendship, business was business, and should not be confused.
Moreover, she could not swindle him just because they knew each other. That was no way to get along with people.
Nor was she a stingy person.
Everything had to be clear. If she spoke the truth and explained it clearly, there would be no reason for any unnecessary misunderstandings and it wouldnât be awkward to meet in the future.
Sean said, âOkay, letâs get out of the car then.â He pushed the car door with one hand and Dolores followed.
The handcuffs were very visible and unsightly.
Sean made Fatty take off his coat and covered the handcuffs with it, âWait for me in the car.â
Fatty nodded.
Not everyone could go in there and Sean wasnât afraid of being recognized.
He was familiar with the place and led Dolores towards the elevator. After getting on the elevator, Dolores frowned as she saw the floor number he pressed. Who did he want to meet?
âMy brother.â
âIs he a WY Group executive?â asked Dolores.
Sean turned to look at her, âHave you ever heard of Matthew Nelson?â
Dolores held her breath. She looked at Sean, the corners of her eyes twitching, âYou mean, heâs your brother?â
Sean sighed, feeling terribly helpless, âHave you heard of him?â.
Dolores couldnât answer. She was puzzled, âWhat is this situation?â
âWho is he?â âSean?â
âIâm sure youâve seen Matthew Nelson in many financial and economic magazines. Heâs a man in his mid-thirties, almost verging on forty, who loves to have a face like an iceberg all day long. I often feel that he is not normal. Tell me, wouldnât a normal man be married and have children at this age? Even if he doesnât have a wife, but with his status, shouldnât there be a few mistresses around him? But heâs like a monk.â
Sean only knew Matthew and Maria. He was surprised when she broke off their engagement. He had always thought Matthew loved her very much. After all, he had only recognized her as a woman. Later, when she broke off her engagement, he felt that Matthew might not have really loved herâ¦.
If he really loved her, how could he break up with her after announcing their engagement?
After the wedding was called off, she never heard from a woman again at Matthewâs side.
Sean was very busy. Half the time he was flying back and forth, filming, participating in shows, getting commercials; and the other half he spent overseas. When he wasnât filming, he was hiding out at school, putting on glasses, letting his hair down wildly and being an unabashed college professor.
His relationship with Jeffery was strained, so he didnât like coming home. So when he called Marina, it was only to inquire about his well-being and report that he was safe and sound. She deliberately did not ask about Matthew.
In her eyes, Matthew was his usual self. Other than making money and being handsome, he was no fun at all.
Dolores was at a loss for words in response.
âIs he such a person in your eyes?â
Sean thought for a while and then nodded earnestly, âHeâs a person who doesnât take joy in living. You tell me, what good does it do him to make all that money?â
What rich man didnât have a few beautiful women around him to amuse him?
