They went out with their bags and continued shopping. Dolores bought Victoria a fur coat. She noticed a cashmere coat in black color that was not very long. It was suitable for Coral. She asked the sales clerk to take it down so Coral could try it on.
When Coral heard Dolores ask her to try it on, she waved her hands, âI donât want it. I have my own clothes. Thereâs no need to take it. Iâm not going to try it on.â
âItâs your daughterâs filial piety to buy you something. She asked you to try it, so just try it. Wearing nice clothes can make you look younger.â The salesgirl deduced that Coralâs age was about the same as Doloresâs motherâs. In general, it was rare for a daughter-in-law to bring and buy clothes for her mother-in-law. She would only come across a few in a year. Most of the time, it was the daughter who bought for her mother.
Then, the salesgirl said something like this.
Coralâs face paled immediately. She scolded the sales clerk: âWhat did you say? She is the teacher in the family. Iâm just an old lady who takes care of them. You donât want to embarrass me by saying something like that?â.
Dolores patted Coral on the shoulder, âDonât get agitated. Itâs all right. In fact, your age is about the same as my motherâs.â
âSorry.â For a brief moment, the sales clerk was taken aback and quickly apologized to them. It was the first time she had encountered the patron who bought such nice clothes for the maid in her house.
The sales clerk wondered in her heart how such a kind and wealthy person could exist in this world.
Today she broadened her horizons.
âââ¡â â¤ââââ£â⢠ââ ââââââ¥âââ¢.âââ âIf you come across such a wonderful family, you should accept it. How many people are as lucky as you are?â The sales clerk wanted to have a good sales performance. She hoped Coral would try it and buy it.
âTry it.â Dolores smiled.
âButâ¦â
âCome, come try it on in the fitting room.â The salesgirl dragged Coral into the fitting room.
Coral wasnât particularly tall, so the short was ideal for her.
âSee, it looks good on you.â The salesgirl complimented her.
âThen weâll take this one.â
âI have a lot of clothes to wear.â Coral grabbed the salesgirl to stop her from wrapping the clothes.
Dolores said purposely, âDonât buy this coat for nothing. Then Iâll put you on the spot to take care of Samuel and Simona in the future.â
âItâs my responsibility to take care of them,â Coral said, âBesides, itâs not like I donât get paid.â
Matthew never mistreated her. His cards were all unlimited.
It was clear that she was very much trusted.
âYou really have good luck. Iâve never met such a good employer. Iâm envious of you.â The sales clerk joked purposely, âHow about Iâm going to fill in for you to do your job.â
Coral immediately waved her hands, âThat wonât do.â
It wasnât that Coral envied the money, nor was she unwilling to lose such a good job, but she was worried that other people wouldnât take good care of them.
As Coral relaxed, the sales clerk wrapped the clothes.
Coral found it hard to refuse at that point. After Dolores paid the money, they loaded the bags and left.
After three hours, they had their hands full of bags, both large and small.
Dolores noticed a clothing store downstairs with the brand name AQ on it as they walked down the stairs. She stopped. Dolores was still very small when they were in A-Country earlier, and Jessica didnât have much money at the time. It was freezing cold during the winter. She was the one who dreaded winter the most at that time. She still remembered that Jessica used her one monthâs salary to buy her an undersized jacket when she was twelve years old. The jacket was from this brand, AQ.
The jacket was the warmest clothing he had ever worn.
He turned his head and looked at Coral, âGo and wait for me in the car first.â Coral nodded, loaded all the stuff and drove away.
Dolores walked into the store.
The store clerk approached her, âThese are all the new arrivals here. You can take a look.â
Dolores did not shop in the area recommended by the sales clerk, but went to the other side.
She could no longer find that jacket, thinking that the style of that down jacket had already died out.
After all, it had been many years.
The sales clerk followed her and introduced herself to Dolores: âHere are the clothes for middle age, would you like to wear them yourself or buy them as a gift?â.
Dolores saw a long coat, which was above the knee, gray in color, and had mink fur at the neckline of the cap attached to the coat. She remembered that Jessica had arthritis in her legs.
She had arthritis when they were in Country A. So Jessica preferred long down coats. She said that wearing it could protect her knees.
Also, Jessica was 5â6â³ tall and could wear the coat. She looked good in a long down coat.
Dolores stroked the exquisite material of the coat, remembering the memory of her standing next to Jessica, âIs there a size M for this?â
The sales clerk shook her head, âThere are only sizes L, LX and LXX. If youâd like, I can bring it to you from headquarters. If you donât want to pick it up here, we can deliver it to your door.â
Dolores thought for a moment, âHelp me get one.â
âOkay. Do you want to come pick it up yourself or do you want us to deliver it to you?â
âIâll give you an address. Youâll help me get it there.â Dolores was afraid of getting angry with Jessica again if she ran into her. So she decided to let the store assistants deliver it to her.
âVery well. Then please provide us with the address.â The sales clerk handed Dolores a piece of paper and a pen, âPlease provide your contact information as well. We will let you know when it has been delivered.â
Dolores hummed and provided the Flores Family address. Finally, she provided her own contact information. After paying the money, she left the store.
At the Flores Family now.
It was under curfew. The maids and Jessica were taken to the police station for investigation. Randolph had passed away in bed. Now a coronerâs investigator was conducting an autopsy.
âThere were no marks of a struggle in the bedroom. According to the maids, Jessica had an intimate relationship with Randolph after moving in. Jessica prepared meals for Randolph herself every day. They were almost always together. This shouldnât be premeditated murder.â
At first, Boyce also suspected that Jessica was the one who murdered Randolph.
After all, Randolph was already a scumbag.
But after arriving at the scene, there was no evidence of murder.
Matthew raised his eyes and looked at Boyce, âIf you were Jessica, would you forgive someone who betrayed you, indirectly caused your sonâs death, and didnât care about you for many years?â
Boyce thought for a moment and shook his head, âNo, Iâm not crazyâ¦â.
Boyce quickly realized what Matthew meant, âYou suspect thatâ¦â
âI donât suspect.â He was sure. Jessica was adamant about remarrying Randolph at the time. Randolph died shortly after her remarriage. She certainly didnât think it was a coincidence.
The forensic investigator was coming down from the top floor at the time.
Boyce approached him quickly, âAny leads?â
The forensic investigator nodded, âYes.â
Boyce frowned, âWhat did you find?â
âRight now Iâm not sure. Iâll only be able to tell you the exact answer when I go back to do the lab tests,â the forensic investigator said.
Boyce asked, âWhen will it be done?â
âThe day after tomorrow at the latest,â the forensic investigator replied.
âI see. Take them back,â Boyce instructed his subordinate.
He turned to Matthewâs side, âIf it really is Jessicaâ¦â.
He didnât finish the next sentence. If it really was Jessica who had done it, the murder was against the law. She had to take criminal responsibility. So, what about Dolores?
âDo your best to keep it under control. Donât let it spread.â It wasnât the worst it could be now. Fortunately, no evidence could prove that Jessica had murdered Randolph.
