Armand headed for the green area outside the inpatient department. Then, he stopped with Phoebe standing behind him, “What do you want to tell me?”.

“I want to make this clear.” Armand turned around. He looked at the woman who was familiar to him before. Although it was still the same face now, it felt strange.

She was familiar to him before, but now he found that he didn’t understand her at all.

He always felt that he could not see through her, as if she had hidden many things inside her heart.

“You will understand that the moment you chose to leave, we were done. No matter what your reason was, you left, which means you had given up on that relationship. You’ll only get me to despise you by being so upset now. I think it’s better to leave it as a nice memory. You don’t have to come to the hospital in the future. I hope you keep your promise and don’t bother me again.”

Phoebe hadn’t expected Armand to be so determined.

Inwardly, she was at a loss. The man who once loved her had changed. He no longer loved her and no longer cared for her emotions. Now he just wanted to get rid of her.

She clenched her hands into a fist. He chuckled softly, “Are you really so desperate that you don’t even think about the love you once had?”

“You also said it was a love that had passed, the past has become history to me.” Armand was emotionless.

It was true that he had let go of the past.

He thought he hadn’t let it go, but when he saw her, he realized he had let it go. There was no resentment, no complaints.

Phoebe bit her lip. She thought she could easily get him back by going back this time, but she hadn’t expected Theresa to appear out of nowhere and derail her plans.

She had trusted Armand to bring her happiness for the rest of her life. She was no longer young. She understood that, although she had never married, her body had lost the firmness it once had. It was impossible for her to marry a man of good family and wealth.

Moreover, she was infertile. Many men could not accept this fact, let alone those who were handsome and rich.

“I won’t go back.” Phoebe left after saying these words. She stopped after two steps, “I wish you happiness, in the future … I will not appear before you again.”

Phoebe knew very well that, if she wanted Armand back, Theresa had to take the initiative to leave. Only then could she have a chance of getting him back, since it was obvious that Armand would not leave Theresa now.

It would be better to leave a good impression on Armand first. She would think of something again.

She had gained a lot of experience as a lover. She had plenty of means.

The corners of her lips curved into a grim smile.

Her direct manner made Armand a little uncomfortable.

But this was for the best.

When Phoebe left, Armand didn’t return to the ward, but headed for the main entrance. There were plenty of breakfast tents outside the hospital. He figured Theresa would be hungry when she woke up. Besides, her grandmother had to eat, too. So she went to buy breakfast before heading back.

When she returned, Theresa was still sleeping, but Mrs. Leslie was awake. Her eyes were half-open, as if she were conscious. Armand quickened his steps: “Grandma, are you awake?”.

Mistress Leslie was trying to speak, but could only make a squeaking sound. Her words were unclear. When Mrs. Leslie was in a hurry, her voice became even more hoarse and difficult to hear.

Armand put down the things in her hand and took her hand to reassure her, “Grandma, don’t worry, it’s okay. The doctor said you’ll recover little by little, you just need to rest well.”

“Whoop Whoop…” Mrs. Leslie tried to speak, but when she opened her mouth, only a squeaky sound could come out. She didn’t have any syllables, so it was hard to hear what she was saying.

Armand patted her hand reassuringly, as he gained insight into Mistress Leslie’s mind, and asked, “Would you like to ask about Theresa?” Mrs. Leslie nodded her head.

Armand told her to look at the couch. When he looked up, he saw Theresa lying asleep on the couch. Mrs. Leslie was relieved that Theresa had not left. However, she immediately became nervous.

She was afraid that Armand would lose Theresa to Phoebe.

“Whoop Whoop…” She wanted to tell Armand that Phoebe might not be as innocent as she seemed, so he wouldn’t fall into her trap.

But for the moment, he wasn’t able to say it. Her face was red and she felt suffocated.

“Don’t get excited.” Armand calmed her down, “Don’t worry, I won’t let Theresa go, you can’t get agitated now.”

Mrs. Leslie squeezed Armand’s hand tightly, hoping he would keep his promise and not do anything foolish.

In the morning, the doctor came for a round, Mrs. Leslie needed to be treated slowly. She could not be cured in a hurry. After surgery, all her indicators were within the normal range.

He told Armand to take good care of her.

When the doctor left, Armand brought out the breakfast he had bought, “You must be hungry, right?”.

Mrs. Leslie nodded.

Armand lifted the head of the bed and put a cushion behind Mrs. Leslie so she could lie down comfortably. Then he took the bowl and fed her the porridge spoonful by spoonful.

After breakfast, Mrs. Leslie was a little tired. She had just had surgery, so she didn’t have much energy. Armand helped her to lie down, “I’ll stay here to take care of her, you can sleep peacefully.”

Mrs. Leslie closed her eyes. Without even nodding, she fell asleep in no time.

Theresa showed no sign of waking up.

Armand asked the nurse to keep an eye on them. He wanted to go home and change his clothes.

The smell of alcohol still wafted over her. Her clothes were wrinkled. He couldn’t stand the smell of his clothes.

He thought Theresa wouldn’t wake up anytime soon. She’d be back and she’d be back as quickly as possible.

On the other hand, Matthew didn’t eat breakfast in the morning. The ‘meatballs’ he ate last night had haunted him.

Dolores saw that he was fully dressed. She leaned against the door to look at him, “Are you going out today?”.

The company was on vacation. There was no need for him to go to the company.

Dolores thought she would wear casual clothes and rest at home.

It was a rare moment of leisure.

Matthew stood in front of the dressing mirror. His delicate features were deep and calm. He stopped his buttoning hand and slowly raised his eyes to look at Dolores, who was standing by the door through the mirror. “Later, I’ll take you to meet someone.”

Dolores stood up, “Who is it?”

She had a vague suspicion in her heart.

Matthew’s relative was there. Although Jolene had passed away many years ago and Jayden had remarried, it was New Year’s now and there would definitely be some visitors.

“You’ll know when you go there.” Matthew turned with a grin and looked at her, “Why do you look nervous?”

Dolores pretended to be relaxed, “I’m not nervous.”

Matthew moved closer, his gaze lingered on her face for a minute, his dark eyes were deep. He reached up to pinch her chin and rubbed his fingers, “You know how sad I was last night?”

Dolores froze and quickly understood what he meant. She had served him a huge plate of meatballs because she wanted to help Victoria.

So as not to disappoint the two children, she had finished eating them.

Dolores bit her lip, “If you’re willing to give in, I won’t…”

“In the future, stay out of our business.” Matthew gave her a light peck on the lips, “If this were to happen again next time…”

He smiled slightly, “I will punish you.”
