âDonât worry too much, it takes a while to fully recover. But considering Mistress Leslieâs age, it might be a little slower. And she wonât be the same as before, there might be some after-effects.â Said the doctor.
It was clear to Armand Bernie, so he took Mrs. Leslie into the room.
The doctor did some tests on Mrs. Leslie showing that her physical condition was good. Then the doctor told them something they should pay attention to, âThis ward is temporary, if you want to upgrade it according to your needs, you can go to the inpatient department to make transfer arrangements.â
âOf course we will have the best one.â Armand said it without hesitation.
Letting his grandmother live a happy life was what he was striving for.
âYes, you can go fill out the forms for admission.â Then the doctor left the room with the others.
Theresa left Mrs. Leslieâs jacket on the back of the chair and said, âIâll do the paperwork, you can stay here with Mrs. Leslie.â Armand said nothing.
Theresa knew that Armand wanted to stay with Mrs. Leslie, as they had always been very close. So he should expect to stay with his grandmother for the time being. So she left the room to go through the formalities.
Armand actually listened to what she said, but purposely didnât answer her. He was thinking a lot in his mind, so it would be better to have a serious talk after clearing his thoughts.
It took Theresa an hour to finish the procedure. She lost a lot of time in line because there were so many patients in the hospital.
With the help of the medical staff, Mrs. Leslie was moved to the VIP room. After things were settled, Armandâs phone rang and he picked up a pickup, it was from Boyce Shawn.
He pressed it and answered, âYes, Boyce.â
âAre you available tonight, are we meeting tonight? I called Matthew.â asked Boyce.
Armand looked at Mrs. Leslie and hesitated. Actually, it was impossible for him to leave at this time.
Boyce didnât know anything about Mistress Leslie being in the hospital, and he also didnât know that Armand was having problems with Theresa. So he scoffed, âWhat, you forget about us after you get married?â
Before Armand could say anything, Boyce continued, âAbout Sampson, everything is fine now, donât you always want to teach him a lesson? Now is the time.â
âWhere do we meet?â asked Armand.
âMeet you at the old place.â
They had a place where they always met, so Armand asked again, âWhat time?â
âAt 7.â
âYes, Iâll be there on time.â He hung up the phone and looked back and saw that Theresa was wiping Mistress Leslieâs face and hands.
He was quite tense, âTheresaâ¦â
Theresa didnât even look at him, âItâs not because of you that Iâm taking care of her. People should know how to return kindness to others.â
Armand pursed his lip, âCan you do me a favor?â
Theresa didnât say anything because she was afraid he was going to talk about something related to their relationship.
âBoyce wanted me to meet him tonight, can you help me take care of Grandma?â asked Armand. He explained further in case Theresa turned him down, âThe Sampson thing was resolved, he wanted Matthew and I to meet to talk about the next step.â
Theresa thought about it for a second and agreed, âOkay.â
Because she couldnât fully trust a stranger to take care of Mrs. Leslie.
Armand approached her trying to say something, but simply signed and left.
The firm was closed for the Spring Festival. Everyone was getting ready for the festival. All over the city there was the joyous atmosphere of the New Year in B-town.
Armand spent most of the day in the hospital without eating anything, but he still had no appetite. He was the first to arrive on the scene. So he ordered some wine to drink first. Shortly thereafter Boyce arrived and saw that Armand was drinking alone. He closed the door and jokingly said to him, âWhatâs the matter boyfriend, why are you drinking alone?â Armand did not answer him.
Armand wasnât like that and he should answer him something if he was in the past. Boyce put on a serious face and sat down next to Armand, âDo you drown your sorrows with wine?â.
Armand also took a sip and said, âPhoebeâs back.â
Boyceâs lips twitched, âDid she know so fast?â
Boyce pretended not to know anything about it, âWhat are you going to do? Theresaâs a good woman, please donât hurt her.â
Armand took one look at him, drank some wine and said, âShe changed.â
âBullshit, hasnât she changed, how old were you then? Look at you now, you even have wrinkles.â Boyce picked at the part under his eyes.
Armand hadnât had time to sleep, he looked so bad with dark circles under his eyes.
Armand stared at Boyce and said, âDonât touch me.â
Boyce poured himself a glass of wine and said slowly, âI really donât want to, but donât get all precious treasure.â
âTheresa wanted to divorce me.â Armand stated, âMy grandmother suffered a sudden brain hemorrhage and is still in the hospital.â
Boyce was taken aback and asked with concern, âEverything okay with your grandmother?â
âYes, she survived.â
âThatâs great⦠So Theresa found out that Phoebe was back?â Boyce thought for a while and asked.
âYeah, we had some misunderstandings. Sheâs determined to leave me.â Armandâs heart broke as he thought about Theresaâs attitude about it.
âWhat do you think about it?â asked Boyce.
Armand glared at him, âWhat do you mean, what do I think about it?â
Boyce sighed and thought this guy was finished. âOf course, I mean who do you want. Theresa or Phoebe. Was it that hard for you to figure things out? Youâre an adult now. If you still love Phoebe, tell Theresa. Thereâs still time to reconcile with her. But I think it will be hard to reconcile with money alone. â
Armand poured himself a full glass of wine and gulped it down, then frowned, âI donât love Phoebe anymore. Iâm done with her.â
âYou mean you love Theresa?â asked Boyce curiously.
âBut she wants to leave me.â Armand was annoyed, âI donât know what to do to regain her trust.â
âHer sense of security is because of you.â Boyce patted him on the shoulder, âYou have to come clean with her if you want to save your relationship.â No one could help him but himself.
He had to do it himself.
With a click, the door to the private room opened, they both looked back at the same time, seeing Matthew enter.
Matthew looked at the wine and pulled out a chair for himself and sat down.
Armand and Boyce were silent.
âSampson is in jail.â Since his case wasnât a death sentence, they just extended his sentence and he had to stay in jail longer.
Matthew seemed not to be in a good mood.
After Boyce broke the news to Matthew, no one continued to say anything. The private room was silent and everyone was sitting uncomfortably.
âHow about we order something to eat, I havenât had dinner yet, how about you guys?â. Boyce tried to say something to make the atmosphere less awkward.
But, still, no one answered him.
Armand drank one more glass of wine.
Boyce thought to himself, âWhat happened, was everyone in a bad mood?â
âLetâs get something to eat first. We can talk while we eat.â Boyce ordered a lot of food.
He broke the silence first, âMatthew, why do you seem in a bad mood?â
He knew Armand was trapped by love, but Matthew should live a happy life since he has a wife and children, his business is also good, what was bothering him?
Boyce totally understood Armand, but not Matthew. It was quite confusing.
