Jordan was confused. He looked at Charles, âWhat, what do you mean by this?â.
Charles raised his eyebrows and smiled, âYou seem to like to solve a problem with violence, and I like to solve it that way too.â
âYou!â Jordan pointed at Charles, âLiar!â.
Charles laughed even louder and arrogantly. He taunted Jordan, âDid I say I wouldnât raise my hands to you?â
Someone leaned close to Jordanâs ear and said, âLooks like you didnât say that.â
Jordan felt cheated. He kicked the man who was talking and rebuked him, âYou have no right to interfere in my business.â
âAre you crazy, Jordan?â The man clutched his stomach and ducked after Jordan kicked him. He glared at Jordan.
âIâm not afraid of anyone!â Jordanâs face turned fierce. He pulled a dagger from his waist and moved toward Charlesâ men to stab them.
The men were formidable. One of the men caught Jordanâs wrist when he was barely moving, and snapped his wrist with a backhand. The dagger fell to the ground.
Charles wanted to punish with legal proceedings the people who had bullied Lacey in the past. However, he would like to let Jordan suffer before taking legal action.
âGo ahead and do it. Iâll fix everything as long as they donât kill these punks.â
The people had no qualms about beating the hooligans since Charles had said he would fix it. They pulled out baseball bats and furiously beat Jordan and his men with their aim.
Jordan and his men wanted to fight back, but Charles had too many people, several hit one. They had no strength to fight back.
Charles won a crushing victory in the fight in which Jordan and his men were crying for mercy.
Some of them, crying, begged for mercy: âI beg you not to hit any more. I dare not do it again.â
They clutched their heads and curled up like a hedgehog as they were beaten on the ground.
âThatâs right, we didnât come here on purpose to pick a fight. Itâs Jordan who called us to come. It was all because of Jordan.â
âYouâre a bunch of wimps!â Jordan hated these wimps, who were begging for mercy after taking a few beatings. They could win the fight if they were willing to fight with all their might.
Charles sat quietly and indicated to Amelia, âGet a chair for Miss Flores. We donât get to see this kind of scene often.â
Dolores frowned. It was the first time she had seen such a violent and cold-blooded Charles.
âThese people lack lessons. They must be thinking that Iâll send them to police custody for a few days and theyâll get out of there, and everything will be fine. After that, they will continue to do all the terrible things. Today I will teach their parents a lesson and also teach them what a human being is like.â
âMiss Flores,â Amelia moved the chair behind Doloresâ back.
Dolores didnât want to see such a violent scene. The crowd of hooligans had been silent for a long time. She could only hear the sounds of baseball bats hitting people.
Charles turned his head and looked at Dolores, âYou think Iâm cruel?â
Dolores pursed her lips and remained silent. There was so much good and evil in the world, and she couldnât judge them since she was only a small human being.
She unconsciously agreed with Charlesâ way of acting. However, she was unwilling to look him in the eye.
Tom approached Charles and asked, âWhat should I do now?â.
Charles looked at Tom and felt dissatisfied with Tomâs question. How could Tom not understand his thoughts, since Tom had worked for him for so long?
Tom realized, âSend them to police custody,â after he spoke, he ushered the beaten and unconscious hooligans in.
âMr. White,â a thin, civilian man approached Charles.
He was the leader of these people, and they were also from the gang and seemed to know Charles well.
âTell your boss that I will accept this favor, and that I will pay him a visit myself next time,â Charles told the man.
The man smiled, âIâll relay the message to him. Iâll leave the aftermath to Mr. White and get on with the men first.â Charles nodded.
After about ten minutes, Charlesâ men had cleared the front of the villa. Charles checked the time, âItâs almost noon. Letâs have lunch together.â
Dolores manfully declined, âSamuel and Simona are waiting for me, so Iâm going back to the hotel.â
Dolores said as she walked towards the door of the villa. She could smell the blood lingering in the air as a light breeze picked up. She put on her coat and quickened her pace.
It was difficult to hail a cab in the villa. Dolores went out the villa gate and walked down the road to the main street, where it was more convenient to hail a cab with more traffic.
Toot toot.
The flashing of a carâs headlight was heard. Dolores stepped aside.
âIâll give you a ride.â
Dolores turned and saw Charles, who was rolling down the car window and looking at her, âItâs not easy to get a cab here.â
Charles smiled, âAre you afraid Iâm going to kidnap you?â.
Dolores couldnât refuse again and got into the car as he had approached her.
âYou keep refusing me. Are you afraid that Mr. Nelson will be jealous?â Dolores heard Charlesâ words after she got into the car.
She raised her head and looked at him.
Charles thought she would deny it and unexpectedly heard her words, âHe is my husband, and I always have to think about his feelings.â
Charles was overwhelmed with emotions and his heart was missing a part. He forced a smile and said, âThey are devoted to each other.â
Dolores didnât reply anything, but smiled.
Soon the atmosphere in the car became quiet. Dolores looked out the window and had no intention of speaking. Charles didnât continue talking either. He was afraid of feeling more pain in his heart.
The most painful and deepest feeling was to see her love who had someone in her heart.
Two people felt uncomfortable if they didnât talk to each other when they sat together.
âI have a guess,â Charles suddenly spoke.
Dolores asked, âWhat guess?â
âMatthew may be Victoriaâs son,â Charles guessed based on the information he knew.
âMy adoptive father Nathan asked me to marry Victoriaâs daughter. That means he knows Victoria had given birth in the past, and then married Jayden. So where do you think his son went?â
Dolores didnât expect Charles to guess. She was overwhelmed by the emotions in her heart, but she calmed down then. She pretended to be calm, âMr. White has a good imagination.â
Charles smiled, âGuess wrong?â
Dolores smiled too and didnât show her slip, âThere must be no proof since you said it was a guess. How should I know?â
At the same time, the car stopped in front of the hotel. Dolores opened the car door, âIâll go first.â
She discovered that her coat had gotten caught in the gap in the seat as she prepared to get out of the car. Charles helped her pull it out, âIâve modified the interior space of this car, but it looks like itâs not perfect. Otherwise, there wouldnât be such a big gap in the seat.â
Charles needed to get in and out of the wheelchair, so he modified the interior space of his car.
Charles moved his body next to Dolores, and the two of them had a close distance as if they were whispering or talking about something secret, and seemed intimate especially as seen from the outside of the car.
âOkay,â Charles pulled his sleeve out of the hole. He smiled and said, âDo I have to make it up to you?â
Dolores said nonchalantly, âNever mind.â
She got out of the car when he finished speaking.
However, she saw a man standing in front of the door with a fierce look on his face as she turned around.
Dolores was speechless.
