The whole world was kind of upside down. The two people in the room were kissing their hearts out and it seemed like there were only two left in the world.

Matthew took off his clothes and pressed them back on. But just as he was about to continue the last step, there was a knock on the bedroom door.

“Matthew, Charles has sent the person here.”

They heard Boyce’s voice and it snapped Dolores’ mind back to reality out of nowhere. She pushed Matthew who was on top of her instinctively.

At that moment, Matthew’s face was hidden in the darkness. His face was grim and tense.

“Aren’t you going to start the interrogation now?” Boyce knew that Dolores was suffering from fever.

In his opinion, Matthew would not take advantage of her in any way.

Therefore, he thought Matthew was just accompanying Dolores in the room.

She had never thought of any other possibility.

Dolores could feel his body tense and his emotion pent up at that moment. She took his hands and said, “You have my word and I will never refuse. We can continue next time.”

The dim, blurry light had hidden her trembling eyelids and her hands that didn’t want to give up holding her.

Knock-

There was another knock at the bedroom door.

Dolores pushed him back and shook her head.

Matthew closed his eyes for a while. Then he grabbed the blanket and wrapped it around her tightly like a pupa.

He rolled over and got off the bed. He buttoned up his clothes and opened the door.

Boyce seemed to be thinking about something and then the door opened just as he wanted to leave. He turned and his gaze fell casually on Matthew’s angry face.

He was tense.

He was so nervous he didn’t know what to say.

Matthew stood with his hands behind his back and watched Boyce’s stunned face with his sharp gaze for a few minutes. Finally, his tone turned clammy, “Where is the person now?”

“The person is staying at Charles’ house.” They had no good place to hide the person here. Since Charles was willing to give up the place for it, it was good that they didn’t have to spend time looking for another place.”

“Okay, you can go and make arrangements. I’ll come there later.” She closed the door after speaking.

Boyce was stunned for a while. Then, he patted his chest after recovering from his daze.

Matthew entered the house and Dolores had gotten up and put on her clothes. She was tying up her hair with the help of a mirror. Her hair was a bit messy and damp. She put it in the back of her head and pulled it into a ponytail. She asked Matthew when she saw him come in, “Lacey’s trapped, isn’t she?”.

Matthew walked over and hugged her back, “She can’t escape too.” If Charles didn’t catch her, he would too.

Where could Lacey, who was an unsupported woman from a powerful family, escape to?

Dolores was sighing, “She was really a pitiful woman too.”

She had no parents from a young age. Even though she was adopted, she was unloved.

She must have been going through hard times throughout her life.

Matthew took her hand and pinched it in his palm, “She who is pitiful is also hateful.”

He lifted his head and looked at her, “You stay home, I’m going out…”

“I’ll come with you.” Dolores knew she had to go question Lacey and wanted to hear her out as well.

Matthew was silent for a second and agreed with her, “Ok.”

Matthew accompanied her as she finished gathering her things. Theresa, Armand the bodyguards stayed at the hotel to watch the kids. Boyce was the only one following them.

Boyce was driving the car in front of them, “I think Charles probably didn’t get anything useful after the interrogation so he is willing to turn the person over to us now.”

Dolores looked at Boyce who was in front and asked, “Did Charles’ subordinate catch her?”

“Yes.”

Dolores was locked in contemplation. She knew that Charles really cared about Lacey and appreciated the mutual childhood affection in their past through his observation.

He must have been having a lot of inner struggle about this time when he handed Lacey over to them.

After a while, the car stopped at the GPS location listed on Boyce’s phone that Tom had sent him.

It was an abandoned industrial warehouse. There was a jumbled collection of goods and some abandoned products and nothing else in it.

Lacey was tied up and lying on the floor with her mouth wrapped with duct tape.

Tom was waiting for them at the door. When he saw them arrive, he said, “Our boss was upstairs, he’ll just watch and not participate in it. It’s delivered to all of you and we won’t interfere.”

The hidden meaning in that was that he would not comment on it, even if Matthew wanted to do something with it.

Matthew was satisfied with her attitude. He was neither a bad guy nor a nice man. She had done all those bad things to his beloved people so it was impossible to stop him now from holding her responsible for it. She had frightened Samuel the last time and almost caused Dolores’ death for this one. In every case she had overstepped her limit.

Tom made a welcoming gesture, “She’s in.”

Boyce walked to the front and was finding his way. Matthew was leading Dolores by the hand and walking behind. The floor was stained and there was a collection of gear strewn across the floor. Matthew reminded her to be careful and to walk more slowly.

Dolores was thinking of other things in her heart and didn’t hear his voice.

Matthew applied a little force to his hand which he placed around her waist so she could feel his strength, “What are you thinking about?”

“Nothing.” Dolores said.

Actually, she was thinking that, if Lacey can admit her mistake, she will ask Matthew not to hold her responsible for Charles’ sake.

The moment they entered the factory, they could obviously feel the temperature drop. The shabby window was opened and the sunlight was covered by the roof, making the place gloomy.

Lacey was lying on the floor with her hands and legs bound. She looked at Dolores fiercely when she saw her.

She only wished she could stare at Dolores until a hole formed in her face.

Matthew narrowed his eyes slightly. He wasn’t getting angry, but his strong aura could make people feel pressure from him, “If you keep staring at her like that, I’ll gouge your eyes out.”

Lacey flinched for a while and then didn’t dare look at Dolores. She lowered her head and struggled on the floor as she wished to escape from that place.

However, she was unable to take a step even having exhausted all her strength.

Dolores glanced at Matthew. He had a lot of character and she only hoped Lacey would accept her mistake and suffer less.

They were just like women and she felt sorry for her.

Even though Lacey was the one who had started hurting him, she was willing to give him a chance to turn over a new leaf.

Tom had set up two clean chairs. Matthew sat with Dolores on his arm.

Boyce squatted down in front of Lacey and ripped the duct tape off her mouth, “You can tell now if it was you who let someone else carry the doll. Why did you push Dolores?”

Lacey lowered her head without saying anything.

She seemed very stubborn.

Boyce licked his dry lips and burst out laughing, “Answer my question or face the consequences?”

“Kill me if you want to, why are you asking so many questions?”. She still lowered her head, “The rule of this world is that the stronger takes advantage of the weaker without saying so. I am the weak one and that is why I have to let you all walk all over me. It’s not because I did anything wrong, but because you are all rich and powerful.”

“Ha.” Boyce laughed angrily at hearing that. Did he mean she was being bullied with her power?

“Hey, it was you who provoked us first, okay?”

“She’s the one who seduced Charles first!” Lacey finally raised her head and didn’t dare look at Dolores, but instead looked at Boyce.

Boyce laughed angrily again.

Dolores was out to seduce Charles?

Did he think Dolores was blind? Had she put Matthew aside and gone to seduce Charles?

Was there a hole in Lacey’s brain?

Boyce knew he couldn’t get any useful information with that form of interrogation. Therefore, he changed his method. “You are an orphan who was adopted by the Ward Family, as the wife of the family was unable to give birth to a child. However, she became pregnant shortly after adopting you. Later, she gave birth to a child who is your nominal brother.”

Boyce took a picture of a man wearing a leather jacket he had captured from a video and showed it to her, “He’s your brother, isn’t he?” Lacey was totally dumbfounded.

They had done research on her and knew she still had a brother. So, did they know the fact that she had also given birth to a boy?

Did Charles know?
