Dolores Flores glanced up at the bright sunshine. It was another wonderful day. She shouldn’t have thought badly of a person. Maybe, she was pessimistic because of how Sampson Herbert hurt her.

“It’s nothing. I’m just thinking about it. I’ve arrived.” Dolores pointed to the hotel, not far away, and stopped walking, “And you?”

Charles White sighed, “I thought you’d invite me in.”

“That’s your hotel. If you want to come in, come in. Even if you plan not to live in your house and come live in the hotel instead, I don’t think I have any right to stop you.” Dolores shrugged as she had nothing to say.

Charles blinked and thought it was a great idea.

“How come I haven’t thought of this?” Charles rubbed his glabella, “I’ve decided I’ll stay at the hotel for now.”

Dolores was speechless.

What’s wrong with this person, he has a house, but he’s going to stay at the hotel?”

Charles was at a loss to explain. He wanted to intentionally mess with Matthew. That he let Matthew hang up on his call in the morning, and even said it was from customer service.

Putting obstacles in her way was also a good idea.

Dolores didn’t judge other people’s business.

“I’m going in.”

“Okay.”

Dolores walked into the hotel restaurant. Not a single person was there. Then she went up the stairs. Beside the elevator there were bodyguards watching, since no one could come freely whenever they wanted. After the baby incident, even the waiter she knew could not come up to this floor. The bodyguards nodded respectfully after seeing Dolores. Dolores was not a type to put on her attitude and smiled back at them.

There were no outsiders on this floor. Theresa Gordon’s room was unlocked and Dolores saw Theresa painting with Simona Flores inside the room. It was odd that Simona was so quiet, so she didn’t want to disturb them. Samuel Flores was lying in bed solving problems; there was nothing to worry about.

Theresa saw Dolores standing by the door, and patted Simona’s shoulder, “Auntie will go wash up. You paint first.”

“Okay.” Simona didn’t even raise her head, as she seemed to be interested in painting.

Theresa headed for the door, “You’re back already?”

Dolores nodded, “Where are the others?”

“In Mr. Boyce Shawn’s room. They said to tell you to go there when you get back.”

Dolores nodded smiling, “Please take care of Simona for me.”

“We’re not strangers. Don’t be so polite.” Theresa smiled and closed the door, “You go first.”

“Okay.”

Dolores turned and headed for Boyce’s door, she raised her hand to knock on the door. Immediately, the door opened from the inside. It was Armand Bernie who opened the door, and this time he was not particularly garrulous, and greeted her sincerely, “Miss.”

Dolores was a little unaccustomed to his seriousness.

What had happened to make him suddenly so serious that, when he wasn’t working, he was so self-indulgent?

Armand Bernie didn’t say a word, but turned sideways to let her in.

Dolores entered. In the living room, the curtains were drawn to the sides. Sunlight illuminated the room at an angle, and it was bright. Matthew Nelson was sitting on the couch with his slender figure leaning against the couch in a reclining position. No one was talking.

Boyce was standing by the window.

The atmosphere was a little heavy.

Dolores walked over and sat down next to Matthew, and asked, “What’s the matter with you all, why are you all so serious?”

Matthew slowly turned his head and looked at her. He just looked, still not saying anything.

Dolores grabbed his arm. She didn’t like Matthew’s silence. Somehow, she sensed that something bad had happened.

After a while, Matthew took his time and asked, “What did you have for lunch outside?”

Dolores paused. Was he angry that she had gone out to eat with Charles?

This person was not the usual petty type. Yet it’s just a meal?

Inwardly, that’s what he thought, but he didn’t have the heart to say it.

“It’s just buns and porridge.” Dolores didn’t dare say much.

She didn’t even dare to talk about Charles.

He was probably going to be angry if he found out.

To keep Matthew from thinking any more about the matter of Charles and his food, she told him why Charles had found her, “He called me on purpose, because he really wanted to talk to me about Lacey Ward. He trusted Lacey, he didn’t think she was the joker.” Matthew grimaced after hearing what he said.

Dolores had never seen him laugh derisively. She was startled for a moment.

“It’s not necessarily a joke.” Standing by the window, Boyce stood up and said.

Dolores turned and looked back at him, “What do you mean?” If it’s not a joke, then what is it?

Boyce looked at her, “I mean for a kid like that, it could be real.” Dolores still didn’t get it.

“The person investigating Lacey’s house is back.” Boyce sighed. “When she was 16, she got pregnant. The baby was born, but then tragically died. The baby was thrown down a well.”

So he thought of choosing this spooky occurrence to scare Dolores.

Dolores felt pain. Was it because she was a mother too? What kind of person could be so cruel to kill a living being?

She was holding her heart. Her breath caught in her throat.

Matthew reached out and grabbed her hand, “What’s wrong?”

Dolores shook her head. Suddenly, dryness rushed to his mouth and stung his throat. She started coughing, pushed Matthew away and ran to the bathroom to retch.

Perhaps, the cough was the cause.

Matthew stroked her back and felt sick. What had happened, had she eaten something bad?

“Armand, pour a glass of water.”

Matthew thought what had led Charles to eat to make him feel so bad?

Armand poured water, and handed it to him.

Matthew took it, closed the bathroom door, and asked, “Are you feeling better?”

Dolores was leaning over the sink and not moving. After losing the urge to vomit, she lifted her head. Matthew passed her the water, “Rinse your mouth out.”

Dolores took the glass, poured the water in her mouth, gargled and then spit it out. She felt much better.

Matthew reached out and wiped the drops of water from the corner of her mouth. When the fingers pressed, Dolores was stunned for a moment. She raised her head and looked at him. Soft and cautious, she felt a strong surge in her heart that even she could not describe such feelings.

She hugged him and buried her head in his arms, “A moment ago I felt heartbroken because I am a mother too. I imagined that if I were a son… I felt so pained and scared as if I had experienced such suffering. That time, someone convinced me to give up. I thought that for them to be in my womb was our destiny. How could I give up? I was glad that when they were born, they were not big, even Simona barely weighed one kilogram. They were so small that I didn’t dare touch them. I was afraid they would break when I touched them, as they seemed so weak. However, they both grew up healthy, and for that I feel very lucky.”

Human feelings were so simple, painful, happy and other emotions were done for the person you cared about.

Just like Matthew at this moment, he was full of mixed feelings. He felt bad but at the same time just like Dolores, he felt grateful.

Fortunately, that night it was her. Fortunately, she gave birth to her two children no matter the risk.

He was thankful for this woman, who came into his world, making his plain world full of colors.

He never thought that one day, he would not become his usual self because of a woman.

For now, he was.

He wanted to hug her, kiss her, comfort her and give her all the wonderful things in this world.

He also gave himself to her.

He lowered his head and kissed her forehead….
