Dolores felt the pain, but made no sound. Instead, she allowed him to vent his emotion.
How he knew she was the one hiding things from him.
âYou are my only womanâ¦â Her voice was low and her eyes dazed.
She was his only woman, emotionally and physically.
Dolores couldnât tell if it was his hot breath or the words that caught her off guard and made her feel herself burning all over. But, still, she pretended to be calm, âHow about Maria Herbert then?â
She dredged up old scores again on purpose.
If they didnât argue, she worried that he would continue to pester her about her secrets.
âIn my past life, I must have been a nasty person who committed illicit acts. In this life, I was only born to be punished,â Matthew said as he pinched her chin and drew her into his arms.
He knew, but he couldnât reveal that she had done it on purpose.
He would forget about it.
Anyway, he would investigate and figure it all out himself.
He was curious to know what she was hiding from him.
It might be the cause of her changing her mind and going to such lengths to be more approachable.
Dolores craned her neck, her mind was racing, and she immediately regained her composure as she thought about various things. After careful thought, she made up her mind, âI have never been in love, I donât know how to love others, please forgive me.â
âAre you confessing to me?â Matthew was stunned and gently dropped his gaze.
Doloresâ heart was still a little unsure, but she decided to give it a try, âTake that as a yes.â
He laughed out loud and his gaze fell on her shy cheeks. She had had the gift of the gab moments before, but now she was blushing.
Dolores avoided him. He pulled her hair back loosely and looked at her closely for a while and felt that she was perfect.
He leaned forward and brushed his lips across her cheek. He whispered an incomplete sentence in her ear, âI regret it.â
Doloresâ eyes widened. She couldnât answer what exactly he wanted to express.
âWhat exactly do you mean?â
Matthew raised his eyebrows and laughed softly. He was callously indulgent as he said in a deep voice, âHow could you forget so quickly? Itâs okay, you can make up for it later.â
It constantly seemed to Dolores that he said it with tongue in cheek.
Her eyes suddenly widened even more, was he referring to last night?
Boom!
Her face turned even redder as if on fire.
Matthew put his arm around her and lay down on another bed that wasnât very wide. Matthew was so tall that his calves had to be placed outside the bed. He also had to bend over as he lay on his side and put his arm around Dolores, who was also bent over and lying on her side, to lie on the bed with him.
Samuelâs little hand clutched at the cushion to keep from jumping up as he kept convincing himself in his mind that they were his parents, so it was normal and legal for them to snuggle together.
He struggled and had mixed feelings as he didnât want Dolores to easily forgive Matthew.
But he worried that they would actually break up. He mused softly in his mind, âIt may be a paradox.â They returned to White City around noon.
It was a bit uncomfortable living in town at that hour. Besides, they couldnât get a good rest either, so everyone was exhausted by the time they got back to the motel.
âEveryone go upstairs and shower, get some rest and come down for dinner later. Iâll take care of it,â Boyce said.
âI havenât changed clothes in a few days, so I need to get back to my room first,â Armand said.
âLetâs go together.â He turned to Theresa, who was standing near him.
Theresa took a quick step back to get away from him.
âPlease keep in mind that we have a relationship,â Armand frowned.
âWe broke up,â Theresa exclaimed loudly.
She was terrified of Armand and worried that the more she became entangled with him, the less likely she would be able to get rid of him.
Armand hadnât expected her to say such things in public, and he couldnât recover from his surprise for a long time.
âArmandâ¦,â Boyce cried out to her in concern.
âItâs all right. Love is a two-way thing and itâs not all up to her,â Armand was back to being rebellious and flippant, âIâll go up first.â
âTheresa.â Dolores handed the two children to Matthew and turned to comfort her.
âDolores. Iâm fine. Donât worry about me. Iâll go up first. I havenât had a bath in a long time. Iâd like to take a shower first.â
Then she ran up the stairs.
He didnât want to see anyone at that moment.
Dolores was worried as these two had only been together a short time and she was worried that Theresa would get hurt.
âDonât worry, since they are adults. They will be able to deal with their relationship on their own. You can go up first,â Matthew said as he took her hand.
Dolores nodded, perhaps his concern was unnecessary, they were both adults. In fact, Armand was a lawyer. He seemed flippant, but when it came to important things, he could treat them rationally and seriously.
Simona rubbed her hair and frowned. Dolores picked her up and asked. âDoes your head itch?â
âYes.â The young woman nodded her head vigorously and her small hand kept scratching her hair. It was inconvenient to wash her hair outside. It must have been unpleasant to endure this for the past few days.
âMama will wash it for you,â Dolores reassured her.
Back in the room, Matthew dropped the suitcase and headed for the other guest room and let them stay in this room instead.
Dolores went into the bathroom and prepared a tub of hot water for their bath.
âHome is always the most comfortable place,â the little girl sighed.
âThis is not your home.â Samuel loathed her, how could a hotel be considered home?
âSamuel is so annoying,â the little girl said as she pouted.
Samuel shook his head as he could do nothing with her.
âLook, Mommy, look how my brother bullies me.â Simona ran off to the bathroom. She leaned against Doloresâ back and wrapped her hands around her neck as she complained about her brother. Dolores rubbed her cheeks and asked, âWhat? Did he hit you?â
Simona cocked her head to one side and pondered for a long moment, âHe hit me.â
âDid I?â Samuel stood in the bathroom doorway as he looked at his sister.
âHe hit me,â Simona said with emphasis.
âWhere on your body did I hit you?â
Simona paused before answering, âWell⦠my butt.â
âButtâ¦â Samuel held up his hand as he pretended to hit her and added, âYou said to hit you. If I donât do it for real, itâll be a lie.â
âAh.â
Simona panicked and curled up in Doloresâ arms. Dolores turned off the tap. âOkay, enough, itâs time to wash up.â
âOut of respect for Mom, Iâll leave you alone today,â Samuel said as he stopped and looked at his sister.
Simona stuck her tongue out at her brother.
Dolores took off her clothes and put her in the bathtub.
The water was warm and the little girl sat in it. As she kept her head above the water and her body was submerged in it, she felt comfortable. She stayed in the water for a while before Dolores massaged her and put shower gel on her.
Finally, she washed his hair.
After wrapping her body in a bath towel, she plugged the hair dryer into the socket to dry her hair.
The doorbell rang unexpectedly at that moment.
Samuel went to open the door and it was the hotel bartender.
âHow can I help you?â Samuel cocked his head to one side. He had seen this waiter before and was less alert.
âThis is for your mother.â The waiter brought him a lovingly wrapped box.
Samuel paused for a moment, âWhat exactly is in the box? Who was it that delivered it?â
âIâm not sure. Iâm simply the one responsible for delivering it. Iâm not sure whatâs in it.â The waiter said truthfully.
These occupants who stayed upstairs had bodyguards at their side. They drove luxurious cars and looked like rich people. He dared not offend them.
Dolores stretched out her hand to accept it and said softly, âThank you.â
âYouâre welcome.â The waitress smiled and found that this young man was not spoiled, but well-mannered, and that he was polite and handsome.
Samuel closed the door and sat down on the bed. He crossed his hands over his chest and rubbed his chin with his fingers as he looked at the box and wondered what was in it.
Was it a gift from Dad for Mom?
Her curiosity was so strong that she couldnât help but open the box.
However-
âAh!â
