.
Jayden frowned and asked, âDid something happen?â
âMy brother is here. Come back when my brother leaves.â Jolene hid in the bathroom to call him right then.
When she returned from shopping, Jeffery Harris was already home.
She was surprised to see him. Luckily, Victoria wasnât home, otherwise this matter would have to be discovered.
âIâll handle it.â
After hearing her reply, he hung up. Fortunately, it was a near miss. He took a deep breath, looked at his belly in the mirror and opened the door after confirming that nothing was wrong.
He grumbled, âWhy didnât you inform me you were coming here ahead of time?â Jeffery leaned back on the couch. He looked imposing even without saying anything, as he was fit and strong.
He looked at her, âHow can you say that, do I still have to report in advance if I come to see my sister? Isnât today the day of your pregnancy checkups? Why did you go to the mall?â
She looked at the small and large bags on the couch as she spoke.
She walked over, sat down on the sofa and asked her maid to bring her a glass of water, âI just went to the mall to buy clothes for my baby after doing the check-ups, as the baby is about to be born. By the way, what are you doing here today?â.
She asked the driver to take the things down from the trunk: âMom asked me to bring it for you and my little nephew. Although he hasnât been born yet, he has received everyoneâs attention.â
Soon the driver came in with his two hands carrying a bunch of bags that were full of clothes and food for her son and some supplements for her. The driver finished carrying all those bags after two times.
She was surprised for a moment, âSo many things.â
âIsnât it all for your child?â He looked at her belly and wanted to touch it.
However, she slapped his hand away. She broke out in a sweat because she didnât expect him to want to touch her belly.
Once he touched her, she would be exposed, since she was a fake, after all.
Luckily, she responded quickly.
He coughed to disguise his awkwardness since his sister had grown up and married. He couldnât touch her what he wanted.
âDidnât Jayden go to the hospital with you since you came back alone?â
Jeffrey felt bad that Jayden, who was her husband, didnât worry about her at all times. Besides, there should be someone around her since the due date was approaching.
âHe was busy workingâ¦â
âIs it more important the work or the child?â
Jeffrey interrupted her before she could finish her words, âCanât you think which is more important?â
By the time she was about to explain, he had already pulled out his phone and was impatiently calling Jayden.
Soon the call connected. As he was about to ask, Jolene snatched the phone from him and hung up, âMind your own business.â
He frowned and looked puzzled. He looked at her disappointed, since it was for her sake and he was afraid Jayden would bully her, but sheâ¦.
âAll right. I wonât worry about your business in the future.â She stood up.
She realized that what she had said was a bit hurtful. Jeffrey was her brother after all and he only cared about her.
She shouldnât make him sad.
âIâm sorry. I didnât mean to.â
He picked up the driverâs hat and stopped his movement for a moment as he listened to what she said. Then he put his hat back on, âCall me if it bothers you.â When he finished speaking, he walked out with long strides.
Even if he was angry right now, he couldnât leave her alone since, after all, she was his sister.
She ran out and caught up to him, hugging him from behind, âI may have prenatal depression and I was in a bad mood. Donât be mad at me. I didnât mean to right now and I know you care about me.â
He frowned and pushed her away, âDonât you know youâre pregnant now, why do you keep running?â
âI forgot a moment agoâ¦â
âWhat have you forgotten, did you forget that you are a pregnant woman?â He was amused to hear that and touched her nose, âYour baby is the first child of the Nelson Family and the Harris Family, therefore, you must protect your baby well. Keep that in mind as I will hit you next time if you are reckless.â She pretended to be fierce.
She knew he loved and cared for her.
She threw herself into his arms and hugged him, âBrother.â
He pinched her cheeks and she cried out, âIt hurts, it hurtsâ¦â His strength was powerful as he was a soldier.
âI didnât use any force.â
âYouâll rip my face off if you do that.â She rubbed her face and her face was slightly red.
She felt bad and rubbed his face, âIâll pinch you softer next time.â He sighed, âYou are so childish that you are still behaving in a spoiled way since you will soon become a mother.â
âEven if I become a grandmother, I am still your sister.â She was speechless as she saw that it made sense.
Even if she grew up, I was still her little sister.
He folded her body and got into the car, then looked at her again, âCome back, remember to put on more clothes as the weather is cold. Take care of yourself and call me anytime if anything happens.â She nodded.
She watched the car drive away and as she was about to go into the house, she heardâ¦. âJolene.â
She turned around and saw Stanley, who was dressed casually and looked very handsome, standing on the opposite side of the road.
The wind was blowing hard and making his hair a mess.
She was distracted for a moment. Then she looked around and hurried over, âWhy are you here?â
âI miss you.â His mouth curved upward and he looked extremely handsome when he smiled.
She glared at him, âLet me know in advance if you come next time.â
He took her in his arms, âWe are a couple and we love each other, why is it so hard to get to know each other?â.
She patted his back, âWait a little longerâ¦â
She wanted to wait until Victoria gave birth to their child and wait until Jayden knew his own mind.
Then he could leave, travel the world with Stanley, leave everything here and live a life that belonged to them.
âHow long?â Stanley asked.
âA year at the most.â
He didnât know if Jayden was telling the truth that he would let her go after Victoria gave birth, but a year was long enough for her to know her own mind.
In that time, she could leave successfully without guilt.
âCome back now.â She released Stanley.
âI want to take a look at you.â He grabbed her hands and refused to let go.
His expression looked serious, âWeâre in front of the Nelson Family villa. Itâs not good for me and Jayden if weâre seen by the others.â
Stanley knew that, he lowered his head and kissed her on the lips, âIâll wait for you no matter how long it takes.â
After he finished saying that, he turned and left.
She stood in front of the door, looked at him and waved her hand at him, âDrive slowly.â
He rolled down the car window, âGet in. Itâs cold outside.â She held her coat tightly and went into the house.
The weather was getting cooler and the wind colder, for it was December.
On the twentieth of December, whose new year was just around the corner, the lights in the villa were suddenly turned on at night.
Victoria felt sore. She was taken to the hospital during the night without informing anyone to prevent others from discovering the truth.
Jolene planned to hold the baby in her arms and announce that she had given birth after it was born.
This way, they could hide it from everyone.
Jayden drove his car while Jolene held Victoria, who was sweating profusely due to back pain. Jolene comforted her, âHang in there, weâll be at the hospital soon.â
She had never given birth before, so she didnât know that Victoria would have to go through that pain again when she gave birth.
Victoria was a strong person, but she couldnât stand the pain that seemed to tear at her bones and flesh, âIt hurts! It hurts so much now.â
Her slender fingers clutched at the seat and her lips twitched, âAm I going to die?â
âNo, no.â Jolene didnât know her pain and couldnât experience it. One who had not experienced it could not empathize.
She could see that Victoria was in pain and also felt nervous, âDonât be afraid, donât be afraid. We are all here with you.â
Besides, Jayden always looked back and had his heart in his mouth.
Soon they arrived at the hospital entrance. Jolene got out of the car and opened the door.
As she was about to grab Victoria, she asked her to step aside.
She was distracted for a moment and hurriedly stepped aside. Then, she bent her body to pull Victoria out of the car. Victoria clutched her collars, âIt hurts. It hurts a lot. It hurts intermittentlyâ¦â
He had no idea how to comfort her, as he was also nervous. He could only hug her tightly and comfort her silently.
