This person was Jolene Harris.
At that moment she spoke directly, âIf you need money, I can give it to you, but you have to do me a favor.â
Victoria was stunned and thought she was crazy. They had never met before, but she offered him money. She thought he was making fun of her, hence she said sternly, âI donât know you, please go away.â
Jolene didnât get angry, instead, she had her assistant give her a card with her name on it. âCall me if you need me.â And she left.
A group of people came and took Victoria away after that. They warned that they would jail Victoria if she didnât come out with the money in three days.
Victoria had never worried about money when her father was alive, she didnât have many friends either, Nathan was her only support apart from her family members.
Now, even Nathan was gone, her life collapsed overnight.
She couldnât come up with the money, so on the third day she dialed the number Jolene had given her.
Victoria promised to help her, but she needed money.
Jolene wired her the amount that same night, Victoria was released and they also made up for the troublesome loss of fabric.
Jolene visited her again after the situation calmed down.
ðÃЯE ðPÄÎTÎÅ IÐ GÎÅÐÃVÎÅÅ.áÃá° Victoria asked her, âWhat do you need me to do for you?â.
Jolene didnât say it directly, but handed her a photo of Jayden and asked, âDo you think heâs handsome?â
Victoria looked at the man in the photo and was stunned by the distinctive features and handsome looking face, he was in a full suit and getting out of a car, it appeared to be a photo taken without his knowledge.
Jolene smiled, âThatâs my husband, someone secretly took this picture of him.â
Victoria was puzzled, âWhy did you show me your husbandâs picture?â.
Jolene stared at Victoria for a moment and said, âI want you to be his mistress.â Victoria felt as if lightning struck her, she froze and could not utter a word.
Had she misheard or had she misspoken â get the husband to be a mistress?
This was the funniest phrase she had ever heard in her entire life.
However, Jolene calmly said, âYou have not misheard, I want you to be his mistress and give birth to a baby.â
âIs Jolene infertile?â Dolores frowned, who would seek a lover for her own husband, had she gone mad? Dolores didnât understand.
âAt first I thought the same thing, she found her husband a woman to give birth to a child because of infertility, but it wasnât so. She was healthy and I remembered that she was pregnant when Matthew was seven and gave birth to a baby when Matthew turned eight.â Gee, does that mean Matthew had siblings?
âWhere is the child?â asked Dolores.
âI donât know, I never knew the child. I heard she passed away and I never saw her again, I donât know the whereabouts of the child either,â Victoria answered truthfully.
Shortly after her death, Jayden officially married Victoria.
Victoria made a promise and took the money, so he had to leave with Jolene.
In reality, the real reason was Nathanâs disappearance.
The incident that hit the Forbis lasted a month, the man who promised her love, protection and eternity disappeared from her life when she was in trouble.
She was depressed and hopeless, so she left with Jolene.
When they arrived in City B, Jolene got her a well-appointed house with servants.
Jolene also cared about her, visiting her often to make sure she was adjusting well.
She was a nice person and also treated Victoria well.
Victoria didnât understand why she had chosen her.
âWhy me? It was a huge amount and your husband is a successful personâ¦â
âYouâre worth it.â Victoria interrupted, âIâve looked at many, but none were beautiful and tough at the same time.â
She met a few women that day, but was not satisfied. Then she saw Victoria leaving the White Family as she was on her way back. It was a hot day, her cheeks were flushed and she was sweating all over her face.
âThis is Miss Forbis, the one who makes the watered silk.â Explained the driver as he saw Joleneâs eyes glued to Victoria.
âThe Forbis Family who is involved in troublesome fabric issues and forced to indemnify the buyer?â. asked Jolene.
The driver nodded. âYes, she was engaged to the Whites, but maybe sheâs fizzled out now.â
Even the chauffeur realized that the White Family was no help to the Forbis, not to mention Joleneâs intelligence, which instantly realized that Victoria had been rejected by the White Family.
For Victoria looked desperate, lonely and disappointed.
Even though she had taken multiple blows, she was still standing tall. She was a strong and resilient woman.
So she visited Victoria at her weakest moment and reached out to help her.
That was how Victoria met Jolene.
Victoria did not understand Jolene, she was like a puzzle and asked her the same question she asked Dolores: âWhy did you look for a woman to deliver your husbandâs baby, was it for your health? Are you infertile?â.
Jolene didnât answer and said, âIâll have someone pick you up tonight.â And she left.
That made Victoria nervous, she knew what she meant by that.
She was like a collapsing mountain sitting on the ground.
Like a soulless puppet, alone and helpless.
The maid came to pick her up, âMadame has told you to bathe and change.â
It was like a dream the whole process, she didnât even know how she had gotten to the Nelson until Jolene appeared and brought her back to reality.
Jolene stood in front of the couch in the living room, âSecond floor, first room on the right, lie down on the bed and keep the light off.â
Victoria felt humiliated, her hands hidden under her sleeves were shaking nonstop and the nails digging into her palms were numb.
Jolene noted her rejection and humiliation.
âYou promised me, I hope you keep your words, donât disappoint me.â After that she walked away.
There was only Victoria in the huge room, it was warm, but she felt cold.
She felt as if a sharp knife was piercing her heart, every breath was painful.
Every step she took was as heavy as a mountain.
She opened the door to the first room on the right on the second floor, it was dark, she didnât turn on the light but walked to the bed under the moonlight. The bed was huge and soft, the room smelled good.
It was a room deliberately set up to have a romantic atmosphere for a couple.
But instead she felt sarcastic, her partner disappeared when she needed him most.
And she was here, in a strangerâs room as a gift from a wife to her husband.
How sarcastic, how unthinkable?
Jolene didnât leave the villa, she stood outside and watched as Victoria went upstairs and called Jayden. âWhen will you be back?â
Jayden who had just finished a meeting was surprised to get the call from his wife.
He stood in the hallway and looked up at the sky, âIs there anything?â
Jolene softly replied, âHmm, Iâll wait for you in the room, you know Iâm embarrassed, please keep the light off when you come in.â
It was an invitation, an obvious invitation.
