âIâm free,â Dolores said without hesitation.
If she could convince the master to follow her back to B-Town, it would benefit her business.
Besides, she also wanted to settle the matter as soon as possible and bring her children back.
âOkay, Iâll fix it,â Charles smiled.
Matthew showed a disgruntled expression.
He didnât drink water when he ate. If the children were not there, he would bring Dolores to leave because he did not want Charles to know that he did not have a normal marital relationship with Dolores.
After eating, Charles looked at Matthew, âThank you Mr. Nelson for your invitation today.â
Matthew looked at him coldly, âYouâre welcome.â
Charles discovered that Matthew was not happy since Dolores agreed to meet the master who excelled at making tea silk. He would like to make trouble. He looked at Dolores and said, âIâll pick you up at the hotel tomorrow morning.â
He looked at her legs as he spoke, âWear slippers tomorrow, the master lives in a remote area, the road is not so smooth.â
âI know,â Dolores didnât thank him for reminding her because she knew he had said it on purpose. She turned to look at Matthew. Sure enough, he was showing a worse expression.
Obviously, Charles had said it on purpose.
âMommy, hold me,â Simona stretched her arms out and willed Dolores to hug her.
Matthew hugged her around the waist, âHug Daddy.â
Her leg was hurt, she didnât know if it was very serious or not.
Simona curved her lips, âI want to hug mommy.â
It had been a while since she had seen Dolores, she wanted to cling to her mother.
âGood girl,â Matthew kissed his daughterâs forehead, âIâll buy something delicious for you later.â
âReally?â asked Simona.
âYes.â
âAll right, then Daddy will hug me. But I want to sleep with mommy.â
Samuel took Doloresâ hand and looking at Matthew, said, âMommy, I want to sleep with you tonight too.â
Matthew was speechless.
Dolores agreed without hesitation, âOkay.â
She too missed her children after being separated from them for so long.
They went upstairs. Dolores bathed the two children and changed their clothes. They rolled around in bed and played in their pajamas.
Dolores put on the bathrobe provided by the hotel after bathing because there were no clothes for her there.
âMom.â
The two children rushed to Dolores after she came out of the bathroom. Dolores hugged them, all three embraced. Simona looked up, âMommy, if you want to play hide and seek again, you must bring me. I donât want to be separated from Mommy again.â
Dolores hugged her daughter tightly and promised her that she would never leave them again.
Outside the house, at the end of the hallway, Matthew was standing in front of a French window. Through the window he could see the riverbank. The bright light and the faint pearly glow reflected off his face and reflected back at him. His outline was dark and blurred. His back was straight and broad. His waist was slender, not much flab. It connected with a compact hip, the contour was balanced and tight.
He put one of his hands in his pocket while with the other he unbuttoned his clothes. He said calmly, âI donât leave a trace?â
Boyce shook his head, âNo, I think he must be hiding now. If he wants to survive, he must get out of here. If he still wants revenge, he must look for the right moment.â
Sampson had disappeared. He was like a ticking time bomb, no one knew when he was going to show up.
He was a dangerous person.
âWe donât have many people, just ask two people to track him, the rest stay,â there must be some people to protect his children and Dolores.
âOkay, Iâll arrange it,â Boyce left.
Matthew stood alone by the window and seemed to meditate. After a while, he pulled out his phone and called Abbott. He asked Abbott to look into the background of Charles and his business, the White Group. Abbott agreed.
After hanging up the call, he went back to his room.
He opened the door, could see the dim light and it was a piece of silence.
The children were tired after playing, asleep in Doloresâ arms.
Dolores was worried that they were not sleeping well, so she turned off the light. There was only a dim bedside lamp on.
Matthew closed the door and came in, stood beside the bed.
Dolores leaned against the headboard and lay on her side. The childrenâs heads pressed against her arm. Simona lay in his arms and put her hand on Doloresâ chest.
It was Simonaâs habit.
She bent down and lifted the corner of the blanket. Doloresâ legs were exposed. She was not sleeping soundly, she could feel a cold sensation. Then, she moved her legs unconsciously. Then, she opened her eyes slowly, she saw Matthew at the side of the bed. She wanted to sit up, but the children were sleeping on her arms. She didnât want to move and disturb them. She asked him softly, âWhat are you doing?â.
âWhere does your leg hurt? Let me see,â he touched her legs after saying.
Dolores stepped back and bit her lips, âMy leg is already recovered.â
Matthew looked at her, after a while, âI want to know the truth.â Dolores spoke no more, she gave up.
Matthew sat down next to the bed and put her legs over his, he asked, âWhich leg?â
âThe right leg.â
She felt itchy when he touched her leg. The sensation connected with her heart and she felt something.
Her hand gripped the bed tightly.
Matthew lowered his head and examined carefully. He found a wound on his leg, his ankle was a little red, âHow did you injure yourself?â
âI sprained my ankle running away,â Dolores said truthfully.
âDoes it hurt now?â
Dolores shook her head.
Matthew put his leg down. He went to the bathroom and soaked a towel in hot water.
Then, he wrapped the towel around her ankle.
The heat penetrated his skin and entered his bloodstream. He felt warmth and his hand clung even tighter to the bed.
Matthew sat back down on the bed. He held her legs and massaged her ankle gently.
He seemed to ask offhandedly, âAre you familiar with Mr. White?â
Dolores shook her head, âNo.â
âThen why did you agree to go out with him?â.
Matthew didnât want to admit that he didnât like that.
Dolores picked up the dress she took off, âYou see.â
Matthew wasnât an expert on the look, he couldnât see any difference.
âThe material is watered silk, you donât get it on the market anymore but he knows the master who excels in making the material. I want to hire him,â he showed an interested expression when talking about clothing and design.
âThe material is soft and fine. It does not wrinkle easily, it is suitable for all kinds of summer clothes.â
She spoke continuously when she referred to her familiar field.
Matthew looked at her quietly, she seemed so charming this way.
âSo I must hire you. If I canât do it, I may as well learn from him.â
âSince the skill is going to be lost, it must be a complicated skill. Itâs hard to learn it,â if it was a simple skill, people would learn it sooner.
Dolores became melancholy, âYes, there are many skills that are lost in our country,â she had no power to prevent them from being lost.
She plucked up her courage, âI am not afraid of the effort, it is my career.â It was also her dream and her passion.
âBy the way,â she thought of the relationship between Charles and Victoria, her expression changed, âHe saved me for Victoria.â Matthew stopped massaging her leg, he was dumbfounded.
Charles had a relationship with Victoria?
Dolores reached out, she carefully examined the jade bracelet on her hand in the dim light. What was the secret of this jade bracelet?
âI think there must be a secret behind it,â Dolores said in speculation.
She didnât quite trust Charlesâ words.
Letâs say he was adopted by Nathan and saved her because of Nathanâs last wish and he thought she was Victoriaâs daughter. So what was the relationship between Victoria and Nathan?
Matthew didnât want to talk about Victoria.
He removed the towel and put it in the bathroom. The sound of splashing water could be heard.
After forty minutes, Matthew came out wearing a bathrobe. His shirt collar was slightly open.
Water droplets were visible on his skin. His black hair was messy and wet.
He rubbed his hair and walked toward her. Dolores squinted her eyes and almost fell asleep.
He threw the towel on the table and lay on his side.
He wanted to sleep with Dolores.
Dolores nudged him, âSleep.â
Matthew held her waist and moved closer to her. He kissed her earlobe and said in a thick voice, âI want to sleep with you.â
Dolores moved away and ignored his kiss. He gave her some space, âSleep well.â
Matthew moved closer to her and snuggled against her body. He slept soundly in the morning, not tired at all. He just wanted to hold her and kiss her.
