Matthew couldnât help but feel angry. But he couldnât understand why she was so angry.
Matthew said coldly, âWhat are you doing here!â
Hearing that, even though Dolores hadnât known Matthew for that long, she immediately realized who he was talking about. She turned her head. She was right. Matthew was standing in front of her. Matthewâs expression was so grim that it could even make people feel scared. He said, âWhat did I say last time? How dare you ignore what I said.â
Dolores unconsciously let go of Sampsonâs embrace. She was so worried about Jessica that she didnât pay attention to how close Sampson was standing to her.
âIâ¦â just as Dolores was about to explain what happened, Sampson grabbed her wrist. Sampson looked at Matthew and said, âYour marriage is only for a month. Itâs just a deal. Youâll get whatever you want. What reason do you have to meddle in her private affairs?â Knowing how hard Doloresâ life was, Sampsonâs heart broke and he promised himself that he would love and protect Dolores with all his heart.
Matthew looked at Sampson clutching Doloresâ wrist. For a moment, he showed a sneer on his face, âYou let a woman who is pregnant with your child marry another guy. And now you go back to her as a protector?â suddenly, he glared at Sampson as if he was a sharp sword that would kill Sampson mercilessly. âYouâre a coward!â

Dolores couldnât believe that Matthew thought Sampson was the father of her child. She was grateful and respectful to Sampson. How could she embarrass Sampson by admitting something like that? She removed her hand from Sampsonâs and looked at Matthew, âYou can say anything you want to me. But leave Sampson alone.â
Matthew was surprised by Doloresâ reaction and couldnât help but think that they loved each other. How ridiculous it was! Matthew was angry. She was now his wife, but she was being affectionate with other men in front of him!
However, as angry as Matthew was, he understood that what Sampson was saying was correct. Their marriage was indeed an arrangement. He had no right to blame her. But at the same time, he hated to see them together.
âIf you still want the Repulse Bay land, come with me.â After speaking, he turned and left.
Dolores was shocked for several seconds. She had not expected the opportunity she had given up to present itself to her again.
For her, the temptation was great. If she could get the right to trade that land, she would have the opportunity to bargain with Randolph instead of being restrained by him.
âLola.â Sampson was a little concerned; it seemed that Dolores was interested in what Matthew was offering.
Dolores shook her head, âIâm fine.â
Twenty minutes later, Jessica was wheeled out of the operating room. Jessica passed out due to shortness of breath from anger. Dolores was the only family she had now. Hearing the others insulting her daughter, Jessica could not ignore it. Seeing the writing on the wall, Jessica couldnât take it anymore and fainted.
âThe patient fainted from anger. Make sure she can rest well and doesnât have any major emotional swings.â After taking Jessica to the ward, the doctor explained.
Dolores nodded, âThank you, doctor.â
Dolores knew that her brotherâs death had a great influence on Jessica. If it werenât for her, Jessica would have already committed suicide. She thought it would be best to keep Jessica away from the town where her brother had died.
She didnât expect Jessica to suffer again because of her. However, not many people knew she was pregnant. Who broke the news? And why did that person do it? What was the purpose?
Sampson knew what Dolores was thinking. He approached, âYou two canât live in that apartment anymore. Iâll find you a new place.â
Dolores nodded. Indeed, they could no longer live there, or Jessica would get hurt again.
âI want to find out who did it.â Dolores sensed that this was not accidental, but that someone had done it deliberately.
âLeave it to me.â Sampson smiled, âThink of me as your brother, your family.â
Dolores looked at Sampson, feeling excited. Sampson was so good to her. She didnât know what to do to repay him.
Dolores lowered her head and said nothing. But she made a silent decision in her heart, someday she would repay him when she really did.
Now she needed someone to help her sort the whole thing out. Otherwise, she would always be uneasy and worried that even if they moved into a new residence, someone would come along and deliberately hurt Jessica.
Thinking about what Matthew said before he left, Dolores felt distressed. Sampson thought she was tired and told her, âYou go back and rest. Iâll be here taking care of Jessica.â
âButâ¦â
âAnyway, I work in this hospital. I have my own office and bathroom, I can take care of your mother.â Dolores looked at Jessica, who was still in a coma, hesitated and said, âIf you need me, please call me.â
Dolores gave her phone number to Sampson and left the hospital.
Back at the villa, Dolores saw only Coral at home. She frowned, âIsnât Matthew home?â.
Coral looked into the study, âHeâs there.â
Dolores changed her shoes and went inside. She walked to the study, hesitated for a while in front of the door and then knocked on the door. She knocked several times and no one answered. She frowned, turned the doorknob and gently pushed the door open.
Matthew leaned back in the chair and closed his eyes. It was hard to tell if he had fallen asleep yet.
Dolores slowly walked in, stood in front of the desk, and whispered, âMr. Nelson?â Matthew slowly lifted his eyelids and stared at Dolores, who was standing in front of him. Matthew was surprised that Dolores called him Mr. Nelson.
Dolores rubbed her hands together in nervousness. Her palms were even sweating, âDid you say you could give me the Repulse Bay lands?â
Matthew narrowed his eyes. His lips curved, âIâm a businessman. I never do anything without profit.â
Dolores was instantly disappointed. She knew she was making a fool of herself. How could Matthew help her unconditionally? She had nothing to offer. How could she trade for this piece of land?
âI think this piece of land would be very useful to you.â Matthew sensed her withdrawal. Randolph sent her and her mother to another country without any help. They lived a hard life and her brother even died. Matthew knew how much Dolores hated Randolph. He thought Dolores wanted that piece of land because she wanted to give it to Randolph. Now he knew he was wrong.
âBut I have nothing to trade with you.â Indeed, Dolores did want to get that piece of land.
Matthew lifted his eyelids, with a mature, sexy look, âYes you do.â
âWhat?â
âYou.â
Dolores was puzzled for several seconds, âMe?â
Matthew stood up and walked forward. As he approached, Dolores instinctively stepped back. Matthew grabbed her by the shoulders, âWhy are you backing away, are you afraid Iâll devour you?â.
Dolores didnât know why she was afraid of him. But somehow she knew he wasnât as gentle as he showed her.
Suddenly, Matthew smiled slightly, âWhy, have you done something wrong? Is that why you donât dare look at me? Because you feel guilty?â
What had she done? Dolores raised her head, âWhy do I feel guilty?â.
She lifted her chin. They were so close that Matthew could even feel her breathing, which somehow felt familiar.
He paused for a few seconds and then squeezed her cheek. He said, âWeâre already married. And yet you fall in love with another man. This is cheating.â
