Hospital.
Dolores was sent to the examination room. Matthew sat in the row of chairs in the hallway and glanced from time to time at the door to the examination room.
Soon, the door to the exam room opened and âDoloresâ came out with the help of the nurse. Matthew got up, walked over to her and held out his hand to support her.
He then looked at the doctor who had followed them and asked, âHow is she?â.
The doctor removed his mask, âItâs nothing serious. Psychologically, she doesnât look too good, she must have been pretty scared. He just sprained his foot slightly, the bone and muscles are fine. He just needs to recover for a few days.
âDoloresâ took the opportunity to lean into Matthewâs arms and said shyly, âIâm fine. Donât worry.â
Suddenly, Matthew frowned and looked at her. His voiceâ¦
âOh, I choked on the smoke when the van caught fire, so my voice got hoarse.â Dolores explained quickly. She grabbed Matthewâs arm, âLetâs hurry home, I miss Samuel and Simona.â
Matthew didnât move. He felt something was wrong. He had been sensing that something wasnât right ever since Boyce was able to find âDoloresâ so easily.
As to what was wrong, he wasnât really sure. In short, the feeling he was getting from âDoloresâ was different.
âDid you choke on the smoke?â the doctor asked.
âDoloresâ hands trembled slightly. She couldnât bribe the doctor, so she was worried that he might say something unfavorable to her. She couldnât think what to answer for a while.
Every journey starts at gαâηÏνððsâ¤cðð âIf you choked on the heavy smoke, your voice may change for some time, but you will be able to recover after a period of recovery.â The doctor did not notice her strangeness.
But Matthew, who was standing very close to her, could tell her nervousness in an instant.
Why was she nervous?
Why hadnât she mentioned earlier that sheâd hurt her throat?
âThank you, doctor.â âDoloresâ breathed a sigh of relief.
After all, the face could be changed with plastic surgery but the voice was very difficult to copy.
âNo way! Iâm just doing my job. For the patients brought in by Mr. Nelson, of course we have to do our best.â Much of the advanced medical equipment in this hospital was funded by the WY Group and he was in awe of Matthew.
There were many wealthy people, but how many of them were willing to contribute to society without asking for anything in return?
Thanks to the WY Group funding, they had saved a lot of money on medical equipment. They had reduced many fees to treat patients and had been able to help many families who had no money to go to the doctor.
Dolores saw that the doctor respected Matthew and that his value had also increased because of it. This made her feel very good. She took the initiative to take Matthew by the hand and said, âMatthew, letâs go home.â
Matthew, who had been lost in thought, was brought back to his senses by Doloresâ voice. He looked down at his feet and asked, âCan you walk?â
âIt hurts a little.â âDoloresâ took the opportunity to lean even more on his arms, acting coquettishly, âOr, how about lifting me up? Iâm very thin, I donât weigh anything.â
Suddenly, seeing her act like this, Matthew couldnât feel anything in his heart. Whenever he was next to Dolores or had any physical contact, his heart used to beat wildly. But now that she was taking the initiative, he felt nothing at all. He looked at âDoloresâ, trying to see something in her. However, her face was clearly âhersâ, with the same nose, mouth and eyesâ¦.
âWhatâs the matter, is there something on my face?â âDoloresâ reached out to touch his face and asked cautiously, âWhatâs wrong with you?â
Matthew shook his head, âNothing.â
Saying that, he reached down and lifted her up. Dolores wrapped her arms around his neck and looked up into his face. Handsome and decidedly cool, his aggressive, sword-sharp eyebrows, his noble aura and straight nose making him look like a beautiful sculpture. His facial lines and thin, tightly pressed lips gave him a reserved and determined look. He exuded unfathomable perfection.
Dolores stared at him dazedly.
She was still staring at him when Matthew pulled her into the car. Matthew frowned, inexplicably not liking to be looked at like that.
His movements became a little heavier. âDoloresâ snapped back to reality and acted like a spoiled child to him again, âYouâre hurting me.â
Her tone was clearly very ambiguous and intimate, but Matthewâs mood did not fluctuate at all.
This feeling was too strange.
He pondered deeply over the words of comfort for âDoloresâ that hung on the tip of his tongue, but ended up not saying them. He climbed into the car quietly and drove away.
âAre we going home?â asked âDoloresâ.
âHome?
Matthew looked at her.
She smiled at him, âWhatâs the matter?â
âNothing.â
After saying this, Matthew didnât say anything again.
âDoloresâ noticed that Matthew didnât seem to want to talk, so, to avoid her suspicions, he didnât open his mouth again to speak.
It wasnât until the car stopped at the hotel that âDoloresâ sensed something was wrong.
Shouldnât they have gone back to the villa?
âWhat are we doing hereâ¦?â But then she shut up immediately, as if something had suddenly occurred to her. A shy blush rose to her cheeks.
It was that Matthew wanted toâ¦.
The more she thought about it, the more excited she became. It was only the first day and Matthew was going to be intimate with her, how could she not be excited?
Matthew got out of the car and opened the door for her. Her cheeks flushed.
âWhy is your face red?â
âDoloresâ lowered her head and said coyly, âYou brought me to a hotel and then ask me what I do? Stop it. I hate you.â
Going to a room in a hotel? wasnât it about sleeping together?
What else could they do, a man and a woman, if not that?
As stupid as Matthew was, he knew very well what she meant. Since when was Dolores so bold?
Besides, it wasnât like she hadnât been here before, why was she thinking like that this time?
He didnât feel happy, but rather disgusted.
This feeling of disgust caught him off guard.
Before he longed for her to lean on him, but now he disliked it.
He frowned.
âDoloresâ noticed the change in his expressions and asked hastily, âDid I say something wrong?â
He mustered up his emotions and said flippantly, âNo, my residence is here.â His residence was there?
Dolores panicked. How could this be his residence?
Didnât he live in the villa?
And did he just say that Dolores had been here before?
Doloresâ back was sweating. She repressed her panic and calmed herself. âOh yes, my mind must not be working right, I forgot.â
Matthew pursed his lips and didnât respond. He helped her out of the car, âCome on.â
âDoloresâ asked, âWhy are we living here instead of going home?â
âI told your mother we were on a business trip when you disappeared, so weâll stay here for a couple of days before we go back.â
âOh!â
When they reached the suite, Matthew unlocked the door. He helped her in and opened the bedroom door, âYou should rest now.â
âArenât you coming with me?â âDoloresâ was disappointed.
Wasnât she very fond of Dolores? If Dolores was sick, shouldnât she stay with her?
âI have to go out to work.â Her expressions and tone were extremely weak.
It reflected none of âDoloresâ drive and enthusiasm.
âDoloresâ didnât dare to cling to him that much, for fear that he would notice something wrong, âThen, come back soon.â
âHmm. Go to sleep soon.â After saying that, Matthew turned and walked out.
His coldness made âDoloresâ feel that he didnât want Dolores.
As he walked down the stairs, Matthew looked behind him. Not noticing anything out of the ordinary, only then did he pull out his phone and call Boyce.
Soon the call connected, âWhere are you?â
âIâm at home.â After running all night, he had taken the time to come back, shower and change clothes.
Matthew hung up the phone, got in his car and drove to Boyceâs residence.
Boyce had just taken a shower. She was wearing a white bathrobe and her chest was exposed through the slightly open neckline. When she heard the doorbell ring, she buckled her robe belt and went over to open the door.
He knew Matthew was coming since he had answered the knock, so he wasnât surprised, but he still felt a little strange. âWhatâs with Miss Floresâ injury, shouldnât you be with her right now?â How come he was free?
At this moment, he realized that the happiness of having successfully found Dolores was nowhere on Matthewâs face.
âDid something happen?â
Matthew broke in and said after a moment of silence, âTell me in detail about the process of finding her.â
âWhat are you suspecting?â
