The night was colorful under the colorful neon lights, and the scenery passes quickly through the car window, leaving no trace.

Soon, Matthew’s car was parked in front of the detention house.

Boyce knew he was coming, so he arranged for someone to wait for Matthew at the door. As soon as Matthew got out, someone approached him. “Boyce is in the morgue.”

Matthew nodded his head, indicating for the man to lead the way.

The morgue was always located in a secluded spot. After turning a few corners and going through several hallways, they finally arrived in front of a door. As they pushed the door open, the dismal, cold smell was present. To keep the body from decomposing and smelling, the mortuary was equipped with a 24-hour refrigeration machine.

As soon as they entered the mortuary, they could feel the sudden drop in temperature.

Matthew was expressionless. His emotion was completely unchanged by this place.

When he entered, the coroner had just covered Beulah’s body with a white cloth. There is a scalpel on the table next to him; obviously, he had just finished the autopsy.

Boyce approached with the autopsy report. “It is certain that he committed suicide, that it was pre-planned.”

Looking at the report, he explained in detail, “He had taken a type of medication. After the incident that occurred at the LEO Corporation, when she was locked up in the detention house, she took another type of medicine. The two medicines had an inter-restriction, which causes death. Obviously, she knew that very well, so she took both medicines one after the other.”

“That’s all?” Matthew was obviously not satisfied with this answer. It wasn’t enough for him.

“Beulah Shawn had met someone before she got out of jail.”

Matthew held the answer in his heart. “Who was it?” he kept asking.

“Maria Herbert. According to the surveillance video I found, it showed that Maria Herbert met with her two days ago. She also bribed someone and released Beulah.”

As he spoke, Boyce watched Matthew intently. After all, he already knew about Matthew’s relationship with Maria. “I have the copy of the surveillance video, do you want to take a look at it? Even though she was wearing a mask, we technically analyzed it. It was her exactly.”

Indeed, everything had approved his assumption.

In the past, he had thought that the reason Maria was against Dolores was that Dolores had married him.

It wasn’t until now that he realized that Maria hated Dolores for more reasons than just their marriage.

The incident that occurred six years ago was the most important.

Her face grew very long in the bleak, cold air, looking quite horrible.

“Do you have any leads on her?” Now he could almost be sure that Maria had something to do with Dolores’s disappearance.

“I’ve asked my men to keep an eye on her as soon as the result is found. So far we haven’t found her,” Boyce said.

“Please look for her as soon as possible.” His hands clenched tightly. “I have underestimated her vileness.”

Boyce looked at her grim face, inhaling. “I will add more men.”

He immediately called his subordinates, hurrying to find Mary’s whereabouts.

“Let there be no panic. The Herbert Family is entrenched in this town. Even though Maria Herbert may have escaped, her family is still here,” Boyce said.

Matthew’s Adam’s apple bobbed. “Dolores is missing.”

“What?” Boyce was confused. “Wasn’t she totally fine during the day?”

“I lost contact with her at night.” His voice was quite distant, as if his words were floating in the air, fading in the wind.

Boyce was a detail-oriented man. After all, he was a detective. Immediately, he found the key point. “Something to do with Maria Herbert?” Wasn’t that obvious enough?

Matthew glanced at Beulah’s body lying under the white cloth. “Why do you think she would die?”

Boyce thought for a while. “Was it a ploy to buy time?”

The person used Beulah’s death to distract them and buy time. After they realized the situation, they had already taken Dolores.

And their ultimate target was Dolores.

Beulah was just a dead piece in the game.

She was already sentenced to life in prison. Even if she didn’t die, she would spend the rest of her life in prison without any freedom.

Therefore, if they offered her enough benefits, she should be willing to take the risk.

However, she had already died. What could she do with the benefits she was being offered?

Boyce couldn’t understand.

“Let’s go out and talk.” He had been in the morgue long enough. Now he felt cold.

The lights in the detention center were off. Everything was dark, which made it feel eerie.

After returning to the building, Boyce opened the door to his office. He asked, “Would you like something to drink?”

Matthew ignored him. He sank onto the couch and said in a somber tone, “Please hurry up and get it.”

Boyce could tell he was not in a good mood, well, in a very bad mood, as if he was repressing something, which might explode at any moment. Boyce didn’t dare talk back. Pulling out his phone, he called his subordinates again.

Boyce’s subordinates received the call and quickly said, “I was just about to call you. We have a lead: Maria Herbert showed up at the Pal Club earlier. I’m looking for her right now.”

“Got it.” Boyce hung up the phone. Looking at Matthew, he said, “We have a lead. She’s at the Pal Club.”

Matthew stood up suddenly, hurrying out without speaking a word.

Boyce followed him. After taking a few steps, he trotted back to grab the suction cup from the desk. Then he quickened his steps to catch up with Matthew as he gulped down some tea.

The Pal Club was quite lively now. The nightlife had just begun.

Because of the investigation, people coming to enjoy themselves were being called by the policemen into the lobby and lined up, to be asked questions.

When the policemen rushed in, Maria had already left without a trace. She was sitting in a booth drinking only.

After receiving a call, she left. Now the trail broke again at the Pal Club.

When Matthew and Boyce arrived, they had finished the interrogation.

“She came here for a drink simply. After getting a call, she left. We’ve gone to request surveillance in the vicinity, trying to find her tracks.” Boyce eyed the man warily in the darkness.

Matthew exuded an arctic coldness, which made people recoil in fear.

Suddenly, he turned and walked toward the door. Boyce hurried after him. “Where are you going?”

Matthew didn’t answer him, merely getting into the car. Boyce spoke to his men, “Keep looking for her. Try to find her as soon as possible.” He then followed Matthew to sit in his car.

They were in the center of town, but Matthew accelerated the speed of the car to 110km/h. Fortunately, there were not so many cars on the street. Otherwise, they were sure to have an accident.

Boyce tightened his grip on the seat belt and looked at Matthew slyly. He had never seen Matthew in such a panic and acting so recklessly.

“Are you very worried about Miss Flores?” asked Boyce sheepishly.

He knew Matthew liked Dolores, but he never expected that Dolores could impact Matthew so deeply.

Who was Matthew Nelson?

He took over the WY Group at the age of twenty, and he had always been calm no matter whether he faced glory or humiliation. Over the decades, he had gone through many ups and downs, but never changed his expression during them.

Today, however, Boyce saw the uneasiness and panic on Matthew’s face.

Matthew was staring straight ahead. The outline of his profile and temple tightened into a line, the protruding veins kept popping.

He cared about her, a lot.

And it wasn’t as simple as just caring about her: he liked this woman.

Soon the car stopped. Boyce finally realized where they’d come to .
