.
Snuggled in Doloresâ arms, Simona seemed to have listened to him in a daze. She said sweetly, âYes, I love you.â
She loved daddy.
But she had fallen fast asleep and didnât go near him. Dolores covered her ears so she wouldnât hear and gently patted her back to lull her to sleep.
Simona hummed and moaned, she pressed herself tighter into Doloresâ embrace.
Dolores hugged her tightly.
Matthew rolled onto his side, his gaze resting on Simonaâs small, soft hand touching Doloresâ breast.
Though he couldnât touch her, he could feel what it would be like just by looking. A storm of emotions raged in his heart.
Sensing Matthewâs burning gaze, Dolores pulled the quilt to cover Simonaâs hand and then closed her eyes pretending to sleep.
She wasnât sleepy now, but she didnât want Matthew to touch her, so she pretended to sleep.
Matthew sighed, silently cursing his bitter life.
Even though they were legally married, he couldnât touch her.
He rolled over to lie on his back and looked up at the ceiling light with a deep stare, unable to hide the throbbing.
Dolores actually fell asleep as she pretended to do so, but Mathew tossed and turned in bed, unable to fall asleep.
Suddenly he sat up and looked sideways at the mother and daughter.
He said with bitterness in his heart, âAre they here especially to make my life miserable? Itâs as if I killed your family in the last life so that both of you are here in this life to torture me.â
He was a healthy man and had not touched a woman in a long time. Of course, his body was going to react when he saw Dolores lying there.
He sighed and got up to take a shower, hoping to dispel the evil fire in his body.
He didnât sleep until dawn.
When he awoke, Dolores had already gone to the store to make final preparations for tomorrowâs opening.
Matthew left without eating the breakfast Coral had prepared.
Coral wanted to take Samuel to the grocery store and asked Jessica if it was okay with her, âIâll keep him safe and the driver will come with us.â
They all lived together and Jessica couldnât say no, âHis head wound hasnât healed yet, so come back soon.â
âOkay. Do you need anything? Iâll buy it.â Coral smiled happily.
âNo.â Jessica smiled back.
Samuel was sitting on the couch watching Coral. He flinched as his round eyes widened. He knew perfectly well that he was hurt, but he still wanted to take him to the supermarket?
Why did it seem suspicious to her?
Coral had thought about it since the night before, that after Dolores and Matthew left for work, she was going to take Samuel to Jadenâs house.
She felt uncomfortable not knowing if these children were Matthewâs or not.
This issue was stuck in her mind and she couldnât sleep or eat well.
âIâm ready, letâs go.â Coral smiled, âYou still have a head wound, let me hold you.â
âNo, I can walk by myself.â Samuel wanted to see what Coral was doing.
He had only been living here a short time, but he was sure she wasnât a bad person and wouldnât be dangerous.
âOkay.â Coral led him into the hallway to help him change his shoes and then took him out.
The driver asked, âAre you going to the grocery store?â
âNo. Weâre going to the mansion.â
The driver looked back at her and then at Samuel, seeming to understand her intentions. Then he turned his head back and drove in silence.
Samuel deliberately asked, âWhat is the mansion?â
âItâs your grandfatherâs house.â Coral was unconsciously sure it was Matthewâs children.
She felt that Dolores was not that kind of easy woman.
If she had a man, then why would she be with Matthew?
Samuel understood that the mansion was the soulless manâs fatherâs house.
He felt calmer now.
âBy the way, do you know why my mother divorced him?â he never addressed Matthew with anything other than him or you.
Because in his heart, even though Matthew was his father, he was still abandoning his mother and sister. He didnât want to acknowledge that.
Thatâs why she only called him using pronouns.
Coralâs face darkened a little. Thinking about Matthewâs attitude at the time of the divorce, it was a little hard to talk about. After all, Samuel was a child and would be sad to know such a thing.
âPlease tell me.â Samuel tugged at his sleeve acting like a stubborn child, âPlease, please!â.
Coral had no choice, âYour father had a girlfriend at the timeâ¦soâ¦â
âHe was married and had a girlfriend?â Samuel knew there must be a reason behind the divorce, but he had never expected it to be cheating. What girlfriend? Just call her a mistress. He thought.
Samuel said angrily, âMen are shit!â.
Coral was amused by his words and asked, âArenât you a man too?â. Samuel gaped.
âIâm still a boy and Iâll never become like Dad. Heâs a heartless cheater who abandoned his wife.â
Coralâs eyes widened, did she know Matthew was her father?
Were Jessica and Dolores deliberately keeping it from Matthew?
Was it some sort of payback for the divorce? Not telling Matthew that the children in front of him were his?
âYouâ¦you know heâs your father?â
âOf course! Heâs Momâs ex-husband, so he has to be our father.â Mom has never had a boyfriend since the divorce.â Samuel said solemnly and confidently.
Coral reached out to pat him gently on the head, âYouâre a good boy, Samuel. Youâve been through a lot.â
He could clearly understand how hard it would have been for her to raise two children alone.
âWe didnât suffer. We had Mom and Grandma.â Samuelâs expression slowly fell into sadness. There used to be an uncle, too, but now he was gone.
Coral let out a long sigh, âYour father will suffer the consequences.â
It was all his doing, now if he found out that his children had grown up so much, she didnât know how he would react.
Maybe this was his punishment for abandoning them.
The car soon stopped in front of the Nelson Mansion. Coral helped Samuel out of the car.
Standing in front of the building, Samuel blinked. This mansion was very large; the villa they lived in was also large, but it was relatively inconspicuous. This one was clearly magnificent.
Coral smiled, âLet me take you inside.â
Samuel hesitated a little. Mom still hadnât told him about his father, was she still angry with his father?
He had just arrived like this, was his mother going to be angry when she found out?
âWhat are you thinking?â Coral looked at their confused expressions and smiled, âDonât be afraid, youâre their grandson. Iâm sure they like you.â
âReally?â Samuel began to get a little excited.
His little heart was beating nervously.
He had always been looking forward to meeting his relatives, but this was all so sudden that it caught him off guard.
âReally!â Coral took him by the hand, âLetâs go inside.â
Walking, Samuel felt like a soulless puppet quietly following Coral.
When she pressed the bell on the huge door, Thomas was watering the grass. He heard the bell and opened the peephole. When he saw Coral standing there, he was surprised because when Mrs. Nelson had died, Matthew had moved out of the house. At that time, he was still in high school and Coral had moved in with him to take care of him.
Matthew didnât like coming back here, so she was also rarely seen.
Why did she come here all of a sudden, and who was the boy standing next to her?
He looked likeâ¦
Thomas opened the door, left the shower and went in to talk to Jayden.
