Soon a message came in and it was from Abbott. He put his head down to look at the phone.
Message: The KS Club did not have a security camera in the room for the privacy of the customers. Only the hallways were equipped with cameras. These photos were of Miss Flores.
Message: Maria came here earlier last night.
What Abbott said was revealed, but it was clear to Matthew that what happened to Dolores had to do with Maria. In other words, what happened to Dolores was plotted by her. Dolores knew that Maria harbored evil intentions against her and she had to be wary of her so as not to fall into her trap.
She clicked on the video with a heavy heart.

The thumbnail of the video quickly appeared. Dolores was stumbling and running down the hallway. She was nervous and panicked.
âLolaâ¦â
Pretty soon she saw who was running after her â Sampson!
Her expression changed and her gaze turned cold and she muttered, âYou!â How daring the brother and sister duo were! They collaborated to harm her.
Samuel was terrified at the thought that Matthew was referring to him. He was clearly terrified, but he wanted to pretend he wasnât afraid. As soon as he spoke, he betrayed his own emotions and stammered, âNo, no, donât think Iâm afraid of you!â
Matthew glared at him, âBoy, your momâs been bullied, do you want revenge?â
Samuel blinked, Someone bullied Mom? Other than him, who else could bully his mom?
âYou think Iâm a three year old? Iâm not going to be fooled.â Samuel continued to raise his head proudly.
He was five years old. He was two years older than a three year old and not easily fooled.
âCome closer.â Matthew beckoned to him.
Samuel stood still, eyed him warily and remained silent.
Matthew narrowed his eyes-how had Dolores raised this child? He was still young and so distrustful of others.
âIâm not going to lie to you.â He clicked on the video and showed Samuel, âSee for yourself.â
Dolores could be seen as soon as the video opened. Samuel looked at the video with wide eyes. Mom⦠When he watched the video to the end, he fumed and clenched his fists tightly. Who bullied his mommy? Soon enough he saw who the person was and his eyes widened even more that his eyes almost popped out of their sockets.
Matthew put his phone away, but Samuel stepped forward to take it. Matthew held up his hand so Samuel couldnât reach for it, though he stood on his tiptoes.
He looked up at the boy, âSo, you want to go with me to avenge your mother?â
Samuel fumed angrily as he glared at Matthew.
âThink it through. Youâre a kid and even if you want to seek revenge, you donât have the skills.â Matthew put his phone away and opened the car door. She seemed to have thought of something, looked back at him and said, âAh, yes, your mother was certainly with me last night and we slept in the same bed. She even said she wanted to have breakfast with me.â
Samuel nearly broke down and almost cried. Had Mom gone crazy, didnât she know better than to go back to him?
âI saved your mommy last night.â Matthew decided to stop shaking him.
Samuel felt better after hearing this. So mommy wasnât crazy after all.
âYou, you said you would avenge my mommy. Is it true?â he stared into her eyes and looked at Matthew.
Matthew looked at him quietly for a couple of seconds, âReally, butâ¦â
He squatted down to look Samuel in the eyes. Samuel behaved like never before and looked at him calmly. His hand twitched, but he was very upset, since Matthew was his father. How good it would have been if he hadnât abandoned them. They could have lived together as a family. He and his sister wouldnât be teased for not having a father. âYou have to help me win over your mom,â Matthew said.
Samuel was speechless. He wondered to himself, since he liked Mom, why did they divorce and abandon her? Why did she cause him so much grief? After giving birth to him and his sister, he had to raise them under the criticism of others.
Samuel pursed his lips tightly, âDo you still like my mom?â.
They should have married because he liked mommy, but maybe he liked someone else or he didnât love mommy anymore and thatâs why they divorced. Now he wanted to chase Mommy again, did that mean he loved her again?
Matthew raised his eyebrow, what did he mean by âstillâ? But he thought nothing of it and treated it as a childâs mistake of expression.
âI likeâ¦â
âSamuel.â Dolores said as he ran up to her.
Jessica said he was downstairs waiting for her to come back, but she didnât see him when she came upstairs. The smartwatch was on her and she couldnât find it. She feared it was lost and went downstairs to look for it. She was so worried that she nearly called the police only to find it at the entrance to the apartment complex.
âWhy are you lost, you know I was so worried when I couldnât find you?â.
Dolores knew her son was prejudiced against Matthew and pulled him behind her, âHeâs a child, please donât be offended by what he said.â
âOf course.â Matthew leaned against the side of the car and pointed his chin at Samuel, âI wonât hold a grudge against a child.â
Samuelâs good impression of Matthew was immediately dispelled by what he said.
Samuel wrapped his arms tightly around Doloresâ neck, kissed her cheek and said, âMommy, I want to sleep with you tonight. Hold me when you sleep, okay?â. Matthew was speechless. This rascal.
Dolores was startled and looked at her son. Why had he behaved like that today? He had been angry because she had confiscated his things and now, all of a sudden, he was no longer angry with her? It was very strange, he thought.
âMom, do you want to eat out, can I come with you?â he wrapped his arms around Doloresâs neck and said shyly, âOkay?â
Dolores looked at Matthew for an answer.
Matthew nodded, âLetâs go.â
This time it was Matthew who drove while Dolores and Samuel sat in the back. Samuel seemed to flaunt the fact that Dolores was his and was implying that Mom was his and no one could take her away from him. Only he could hold her and sleep with her.
Dolores was startled by his sudden actions.
âSamuel.â She called out to him and felt his forehead with her hand to check if he had a fever. He didnât have a fever. Then why was he acting like this?
âIâll give you back the smartwatch, okay?â Dolores felt uncomfortable with Samuelâs intense reactions. It was really uncomfortable not being able to contact him. She still couldnât give him the Tablet because he hadnât admitted his mistakes.
âReally?â Samuelâs eyes lit up and he asked, âWhat about the tablet?â
He was too bored without the iPad and because he couldnât play games.
âI can give it to you but you should knowâ¦â
âI made a mistake.â He admitted his mistake before Dolores could finish.
She had already decided to get back at her mommy with that crap and so she wouldnât make him look bad. He wouldnât make things difficult for her for the time being. Today, Samuel had surprised Dolores with a lot of actions he had never done before. He was a good kid in many ways, except that he was very stubborn.
Once he made up his mind about something, it was hard for others to change his mind.
âThis way,â Dolores said when she saw the tent serving breakfast.
Matthew looked at the store and it looked busy. He parked the car and Dolores pulled Samuel out of the car. They walked into the store together. There were a lot of people in the store at the time and they attracted attention. They looked like a family of three when they were together. The husband, tall and handsome, the son looked like his father was friendly and charming, while the mother was young and beautiful. This combination was very striking.
Matthew rarely ate breakfast out and was not used to such a place.
âFind a seat while I take a look at what they have today.â Dolores set her son down and asked, âDo you want something to eat?â
âI want pumpkin porridge and fried meatballs.â
âHow about you?â Dolores turned to look at Matthew.
âAnything.â She didnât know what was available.
There were a lot of people in the tent.
âThereâs a seat over there.â Someone left and Samuel pulled Matthew toward the seat. Matthew frowned because the table hadnât been cleaned.
Samuel noticed Matthewâs dislike of the place, pursed his lips and said, âMom and I often eat at these places.â
âReally?â commented Matthew.
âOf course!â replied Samuel.
âI agree to work with you to seek revenge for my mommy.â Samuel clasped his hands as he saw that he was carrying his breakfast and said with determination, âMommy has suffered enough. I want to protect her.â
