V. Assumptions

Sweet Creature - j.h.1,513 words~8 min read

Blair left the school grounds and was walking towards the big forest that laid just few meters away from school. Without turning back, she entered the forest and suddenly was surrounded with all kinds of trees. Walking straight ahead some more, Blair finally decided to stop or else she would get lost.

Sitting down on one of the fallen trees, she took one big breath and relaxed. Blair was never the one who just ditched her classes, especially so early as she just moved here. While sitting there all alone, she finally got some time to think about some things.

Firstly, her thoughts were constantly filled with boy with whom she never had a conversation before. Not only that, but him and the rest of his siblings were far more suspicious to Blair.

They only talked among each other which was fine, not everybody was as social as some people. But then, they are so popular among other students and Blair could not find the solution why.

Yes they are beautiful, maybe a bit too much beautiful. In fact none of them looked like high school student. Where are pimples, acne scars or any traces of stress that shows on every other young adult. Their physique was far too perfect for seventeen year old children. Do they go to gym everyday?

Shaking her thoughts away, Blair reached in her bag to find a box of cigarettes. Finding the blue package, she opened it and took one out, placing it in between her lips.

But before she light it up, Blair stopped in her tracks thinking of her mother and how mad she would be if she knew Blair smoked a cigarette in the middle of a forest, alone.

Not wanting to cause a forest fire, she put her lighter away taking the cigarette out of her mouth placing it behind her ear. Blair reached into her bag once again, this time taking out a book.

After spending almost two hours there, Blair decided it was time to go back to civilisation. Her school day was nearing its end and in any case her mother shows up in front of school to pick Blair up, she wanted to be there.

Theresa was never a strict mother, most of the time she let Blair do whatever she wanted with warning that everything she did, it was her own responsibility, and if she ends up locked up somewhere her mother won't come running to the rescue.

She would leave her there whole night so she learns a lesson. Theresa doesn't care if her daughter ditches, as long as it doesn't affect her studies.

Finally leaving the forest behind, Blair noticed her school colleagues exiting the building. She didn't want to face any of her new friends in case some of them noticed her absence, she wasn't in mood for explaining.

Once Luke, Eric and Mike drove away with Tyler in his van, that's when Blair finally decided to walk across the parking lot so she could continue her walk home, as she noticed no sight of her mother.

Feeling a little goofy how she's hiding from her friends, Blair smiled at the ground while shaking her head. Once she picked up her gaze, it fell on three figures that were exiting the school building together, talking to each other silently.

Edward and his sibling Alice talked to each other with smile on their faces about something that Blair was not able to hear, while their other sibling Jasper was walking seriously beside them, not saying a word. As he listened to his siblings talk, Jasper was looking straight ahead.

When his golden eyes met with Blair's blue ones. His already prim posture got even more stiff as Blair was getting closer.

As their paths collided, Blair and Jasper were still looking at each other like they were the only people on that parking lot. Edward and Alice's conversation died out as both of them eyed the new girl.

''I had no idea you smoke.'' Alice said just as Blair would pass them, but hearing her talk especially to her Blair stopped in her tracks.

''Um I- yeah...'' Blair mumbled and moved her cigarette from her ear and held it in between her fingers.

''You must be Blair.'' She said with smile, causing both of her siblings to look at her in confusion. ''I'm Alice Cullen, these are my brothers Edward-'' She said and faced the tall boy with bronze-brown hair in grey coat.

''-and this is Jasper.'' She finished, turning to her other brother with golden-blond hair. Blair noticed all three of them had the same eye colour. Yellow, almost gold coloured orbs which made her suspicions even higher.

'Adopted siblings my ass-'

''It is nice to meet you. We have Biology together, right?'' Edward said, breaking her thoughts. He raised his hand for her to shake, which she gladly took.

''Yeah, nice to meet you too. I'm Blair.'' She said. Their arms parted, Edward leaving her hand almost frozen. There was small awkward silence that Blair didn't know how to break. She kept looking from Edward to Alice then to Jasper who was the only one out of three not looking at her.

''I see you like Pulp Fiction.'' Alice pointed out as she was looking down at Blair's white shirt with Pulp Fiction print on it. Blair glanced down at her shirt, moving her long hair out of the way so she could get a better look.

''Oh yeah, great movie. You've seen it?'' Blair asked Alice who opened her mouth but nothing came out. She smiled mischievously as she put her arm behind Jasper.

''No, but my brother loves it.'' Alice said, making both Jasper's and Edward's eyes a bit wider.

''Alice.'' Jasper warned, half glaring at his sister. Blair looked up to Jasper, shooting him a bright smile.

''That's great, not many people our age like older movies.'' Blair said making Jasper smile, and Alice and Edward silently chuckle like they were laughing at some kind of silent joke between them.

''Anyways, I should go... Before my mom thinks somebody kidnapped me.'' Blair lied.

''See you around Blair.'' Said Alice as Blair was walking away from them. Blair looked across her shoulder at the trio waving at them. ''Oh and don't forget an umbrella tomorrow, it's going to rain!'' Alice shouted before the girl was far away.

''What are you trying to do Alice?'' Jasper asked his sister. Smaller girl grinned and she grabbed both of her brothers' elbows and continued to walk towards their car.

''I'm making a new friend. Maybe you should too.''

Next day, the weather looked fine. There was no sun, but the clouds didn't seem dark enough to cause rain. Which of course, made Blair not to bring an umbrella with her. Her whole day passed slowly. He Literature class just finished and Blair headed towards Biology class.

Last night and the whole day today she was thinking about her little meet and greet with Cullens. They were definitely weird, but not in the way that Blair wanted to avoid them. They were just different from the other students.

But Jasper was on her mind mostly. There was something about him she wanted to reveal. It is like they were speaking one to another even if no one isn't saying a thing.

While thinking about Jasper Hale, Blair entered her Biology lab and somehow her eyes first landed on Edward Cullen, who was smirking to himself. He licked his lips and looked out of the window at the grey sky.

Without thinking about it, Blair walked towards him and sat down at the empty stool that stood there beside him. Edward looked at her with confused look on his face. Blair at first didn't say anything to the boy, she was just there sitting and looking at him.

''Are you and your siblings undercover cops?'' She asked out of nowhere, making Edward almost burst out laughing.

''I don't think so.'' Edward said to Blair, smiling from ear to ear.

''You know that's exactly what undercover cop would say?'' Blair said to Edward, raising both of her eyebrows at him. ''I used to watch 21 Jump Street before.''

''I guess then you'll never know.'' Blair playfully glared at the taller boy, copying his smirk.

''Oh believe me, I'll find out.'' She assured, making Edward slightly nervous. Even if there was no suspicion about his family's true nature in her mind, he still does not want to risk it. Before any of them could say anything loud thunder was heard from outside, following with pouring rain.

''Shit!''

''Woah, Miss Hargreeves please watch your tongue. This is school not your backyard.'' Said Biology teacher, Mr Maluma as he heard her when he entered the lab.

''Now please get back to your seat so we can begin.'' He said causing Blair to groan and walk towards her seat which was at the other side of the lab, next to Mike who looked at her weirdly.
