âItâs really okay for you not to mind me here and just continue with your talk.â
âI canât believe that youâwho possessed a normal set of eyesâcould just fall at a place where I never did. What a marvelous sight.â
âI know, right?â
Knox sighed once again at the physicianâs cheery behavior that was even more than usual.
It seemed like today wasnât the day after all. He raised his hand over her faintly visible red hair.
âThereâs nothing we can do after all. Can you tell me this story next time?â
His gentle caress through her hair eventually made her nod.
âYes, I will.â
In fact, Vivian could actually feel how relieved she was at this moment. She smiled, grateful for the fact that she could put off the awkward situation aside. She wanted to avoid everything that she was facing currently and prepare for the worst later.
âBy the way, arenât you guys hungry?â
It was none other than the physician who suddenly butted in between the intimate couple.
âNo. We ate lunch quite late, so weâre reallyâ¦â¦â
âYou had lunch already? Without me?â
âYou can just eat at your own place, canât you?â
Right upon Knoxâs blunt words, the physician immediately let out an exaggerated expression.
âI have no idea where all the food is. Iâm so hungry that I had even searched through the cupboard, but there wasnât even a single grain of dust to be found.â
âCanât you ask the maids, then?â
âHow do you even reach out to people who lurk around like shadows? When I was only about to approach them for a talk, they just ran away.â
Knoxâs expression had furrowed even further by the physicianâs incessant response.
âSo, what do you want me to do now?â
âYou should take responsibility since youâre the one who brought me here.â
It wasnât even an exaggeration to say that this was far beyond the idea of being brazen. The physician, who then stood up while slightly laughing, eventually approached them with a bright smile on his face.
âIâm famished. I need some food.â
âDinner time is just around the corner, so would you like to have dinner with us, then?â
âAlexia.â
In the end, it was Vivian who had to mediate in between just before Knox could get angry.
She looked up while leaning her body against his arm that seemed like it was trying to appease Knox, who was blatantly expressing his utter dislike.
âKnox, do you not feel hungry yet since you had a late lunch?â
âItâs not like that, but Iâ¦â
Knox replied before stopping abruptly. Only then did he realize that he was getting heated up more than he needed to be. Thus, he turned his gaze and shook his head just like he was ashamed of himself.
âHuft, I think that I should take some time to talk to my servants. For the most part, they donât really have to act like shadows all over his dwelling.â
Vivian gave a silent laugh towards Knoxâs words. As a matter of fact, she had been helped by the physician instead, since now, she didnât have to tell him the truth anymore.
âHand.â
âYes?â
âHold my hand.â
Vivian was immediately flustered by Knoxâs nonchalant request before she awkwardly held his hand. The warmth that had seeped through Vivianâs fingertips was slightly hotter than her own.
âOh, is it too hard to see since itâs quite dark?â
âNo, I just want to hold your hand.â
âAh.â
Vivian quietly lamented on her own.
It had been fairly like this as of late. Despite the fact that he could act like it even without the need to say anything, Vivianâs mouth would ultimately end up sealed with those very sweet words before he eventually expressed his satisfaction.
And the worst part was; Vivian had no other choice but to feel powerless.
Vivian finally gave a slight nod before walking out together with him. In the end, she still couldnât bring up a single word of the most important thing after all.
And then, there was the physician who seemed to have thrown his agile insight somewhere else as he picked up the books once more before following them suit.
When they eventually reached the dining table, the chaos during lunch was already gone and only a tidy place was left to greet them all. It felt as though a fairy was dwelling at this home, seeing how another portion of food had already been prepared even before they realized it.
The first one who had really welcomed the fragrant scent was the physician. He put aside his books and quickly pulled a chair all by himself. At the same time, Vivian also became naturally hungry as well when the warm dishes had already been unfolded before her very eyes.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Even though it hasnât been that long since I just ate. Vivian immediately clutched onto her stomach, but she still couldnât take her eyes off that food once her mouth had started watering.
