Chapter Twenty-Three
ð The Last Chimera ð
Avalon was sitting next to Lydia, looking down at her hand confused when she heard someones footsteps making her look up. "Avalon?" Parrish asked before running over to them, "How are you alive?" He asked and Avalon sighed and shook her head.
"That's not important right now. What's important is her."
ð
"Scott, wake up. Scott-" Avalon said as she lightly shook Scott who was laying on the floor in the hallway. He slowly woke up before realizing it was her, "Avalon? How- How are you here?" He asked and she sighed, "Long story." She said as she helpled him onto his hands and knees so he can sit up. Avalon furrow when she notices that Scott's chest wound has already bled through the new bandage Scott put on it, causing a red stain to grow on his white shirt.
"You okay?" She asked and he nodded, "Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine." Scott and she is clearly unconvinced as she stares at the growing stain on Scott's shirt. "You're bleeding." She said making him look down before covering the spot with his jacket, "It's not that bad." He said and that's when he notices Parrish crouched down next to her.
"Why are you here? What's wrong?" Scott asks and Parrish and Avalon both sighed, glancing at each other, "We need your help." Parrish said making Scott look at them confused. "With what?"
"With her." Parrish says and stands up and steps aside to reveal the catatonic Lydia, who is standing at the top of the staircase. Her head is lolling on her shoulder as she stares blankly ahead, and its obvious by the sight of her that her body is only working on "autopilot" at this point. Scott's eyes widened as he sees her condition and turned back to the grim-looking Parrish and Willow.
"I found her and Avalon out in the woods. She was practically hypothermic." Parrish said and Avalon nodded, "That wasn't even the worse part." She said then held up Lydia's hand to show her finger nails were all bloody. "She had carved something with her fingers into a rock." Parrish said as she pulled out his phone to show him a picture that he took of the rock, "It's a badge. It's a Sheriff's badge."
"No... It's a warning."

Scott and Avalon frantically push open the double doors at the entrance to the hospital's emergency room, holding them open for Parrish, who is holding Lydia's now-unconscious body in his arms and is clearly desperate to get her medical attention as soon as possible. "Help! Get someone to help me! Quick! I need help. I've got an eighteen-year-old female, potentially hypothermic."
Some nurses rush over with a gurney and Parrish sets Lydia down on it. Scott runs over to the elevator while Avalon stays with Parrish and Lydia. Avalon looked up briefly and connects eyes with Scott and nods slightly making him nod back as the doors of the elevator closes.
Scott walked into a hall and see Stiles talking to Melissa and Dr. Geyer through a door, "What do you mean, "You don't know?" Two hours ago, he was fine! Now it looks like somebody took a baseball bat to his neck." Stiles stressed. "There could've been some minor internal-" Dr. Geyer tried to explain but Stiles cut him off.
"Did you say "minor internal?" Since when is anything internal minor?"
"Stiles-"
"I need to know what's going on with him, okay? Dr. Geyer, somebody needs to tell me what's happening. Somebody needs to tell me what's happening to him!"
"We don't know..."
Just as Stiles is prepared to argue with the doctor further, the elevator at the end of the hall dings, and he looks up to see that Scott has just stepped out and was looking through the window of Stilinski's door. Stiles immediately forgets all about his argument with Dr. Geyer in favor of lunging toward Scott and yelling at him as he grabs him by the front of the shirt and slams him against the wall.
Scott does nothing to defend himself and allows Stiles to tackle him onto the ground without interference. Stiles slams Scott's back against the linoleum floor and pins him down, "Where were you!? You trusted him? You believed him? Right? Huh? So, WHERE WERE YOU?"
Melissa and Dr. Geyer waste no time rushing over to the two, with Dr. Geyer yanking Stiles off of Scott while Melissa helps her son to his feet. Stiles struggles against Dr. Geyer's hold and attempts to lunge for Scott again, still yelling, "Where the hell were you?!"
"Stop it!"
The second Stiles, realizing he's making a scene, stops attempting to break free from Dr. Geyer's grip, though he's still furious. Scott looks at Stiles with an apologetic expression, visibly hurt by Stiles' anger as well as feeling guilty for what happened to Sheriff Stilinski. "Your dad's not the only one who got hurt-" Scott said and Stiles scoff, "Oh, you'll heal!"
"I'm not talking about me." Scott said making Stiles look at him for a moment.

"It could be a side effect of shock." Parrish said as him, Avalon, Stiles, Scott and Melissa stood around in the morgue. "No, she's catatonic. It was Theo digging his way through her mind." Avalon said as she crossed her arms over her chest, "Why would he do that? What is he looking for?" Melissa asked.
"The same thing he's always looking for- an advantage." Scott said, "So what did he gain by trying to kill Stilinski?" Parrish asked and Scott sighed. "It left me alone with Liam. Theo wanted to make sure no one would be there to stop him from... killing me." He said and Stiles scoffed.
"Okay, so he gutted my dad as a distraction? Then he somehow brought Avalon back?" He asked and Avalon sighed softly, "We need to find this kid." Parrish said Melissa raised her brows. "Isn't that a little dangerous? Especially since he almost killed my kid?" Melissa asked and Stiles sighed slightly, "Yeah, but he said he didn't want my dad to die." Stiles said and Parrish looked at him crazy. "And you believe him?"
"He told me where to find him... So, maybe he also knows how to save him." Stiles said shrugging, "What do you want to do? Talk to him?" Melissa asked. "If it saves my dad, then yeah." Stiles said and Scott nodded, "I'll come with you. He doesn't know that I'm alive- maybe that gives us an advantage." Scott said making them look at him.
"Absolutely not. He'll know you're there. We just need to talk to him, not fight him." Stiles said and went to walk out the morgue but Melissa stopped him. "Stiles, you can't go alone." Melissa said shaking her head, "Does anyone even know how to find him?" Parrish asked and Stiles shook his head.
"We don't have to find him- he'll come to me."
A little while later Avalon was walking down the hall of the hospital looking for her stepfather. "Avalon?" Someone called out making her turn around before sighing in relief when she saw Dr. Geyer. "Hi, dad." Avalon said as he ran up to her, instantly pulling her into a hug making her close her eyes while hugging him back.
"You've been missing for six days. Where the hell have you been?" Dr. Geyer asked as he pulled back and gently grabbed her face, looking her over worriedly. "Do you know how worried we've been?" He asked and she sighed and nodded, "I know, I know... I'm sorry, it's- it's a long story. And I'll explain everything... As soon as I figure out an explanation." She said.

"No, there have not been any other bodies brought in tonight- thank God." Dr. Geyer said as Liam and Mason followed him, "No one named Hayden?" Liam asked making Dr. Geyer sigh before turning to him.
"Look the only new bodies that's been here is thankfully an alive one. Your sister came here with her friend Lydia." Dr. Geyer said making Liam and Mason's eyes widen, "Avalon? She's al- She's here?" Liam asked and his stepfather furrowed his brows. "She hasn't called you?" He asked and Liam shook his head, "No, where is she?" He asked and Dr. Geyer sighed softly.
"She's in the waiting area trying to come up with an excuse as to why shes been missing for six days before I call your guys' mother." Dr. Geyer said before walking away and Liam and Mason glanced at each other.
Avalon sat on a chair in the waiting area, looking down at her hands. She heard quick footsteps making her look up to see Liam and Mason running into the waiting area. "Thank god." Avalon mumbled as stood up and Liam ran over to her, the siblings quickly pulling each other into a tight hug. "You're alive." Liam said in a slight whisper and she nodded, "I'm alive." She said.
They pulled away after a moment and Avalon smiled at her brother as Mason walked up to them. Avalon looked at Mason but before she could even say anything he quickly hugged her making her smile and hug him back. "I would have called but I dont know where my phone is." Avalon said as she and Mason pulled away, "How are you alive?" Liam asked and she sighed.
"Theo somehow brought me back." She said making their eyes widen, "Theo did?" Mason asked and she nodded. "Did he bring anyone else back?" Liam asked and she grabbed his shoulder, "He brought other people back but I wasn't paying attention on who he brought back. I was more focused on the fact that I was alive. " She said making the two boys look at each other.
"But look, something's different." She said making them look at her confused, "What do you mean?" Mason asked and she glanced around before pulling them off to the side. "Before I died, all I had was signs of a Werewolf, right?" She asked and they nodded, "Well now there's Werewolf and this." Avalon said. She lifted her hand up and one if her eyes glowed a golden yellow while the other glowed a fiery reddish-orange before her hand suddenly caught on fire.
The boys both jumped slight before Avalon closed her hand making the fire go away and her eyes went back to normal. "Now I can some how create fire from my hands." Avalon said and they looked at her with wide eyes before Mason looked at her impressed, "Intense." He said and she nodded and sucked in a deep breath.
"Now please tell me you two have some idiotic plan for whatever. I would like to get my mind off of my fire powers." Avalon said and Mason and Liam looked at each other. "We're going to try to find Hayden, huh?" Mason asked and Liam nodded, "Yep." He said.
"Well, we both know where Hayden's body is. And if you want to find her you're going to have to find the Nemeton." Mason said and Liam nodded, "Okay. Let's find the Nemeton!" Liam said making Mason sigh.
"I need to learn to shut up." Mason mumbled and Avalon chuckled and patted their shoulder, "Okay, but first can we stop by the house so I can show mom that I'm no longer missing and so I can change out of these clothes."

Avalon, Liam and Mason walked up to the doors of the library where were was a giant X of police tape to block people in. Avalon looked at the police tape before sighing and lightly smacking the back of her brothers head.
"Ow, what was that for?" Liam asked and she gave him a look, "For being an idiot. If you're gonna kill someone for someone else dying, you kill the person whose at fault for the person dying. Have I taught you nothing?" Avalon asked as she shook her head before ducking under the police tape.
Avalon and Mason walked over to a bookshelf and Mason pulled a large book out while Avalon glanced around at the mess. They both looked over at Liam who was staring at a smashed table with a guilty expression. "Liam." Mason said, snapping Liam pit of his trance making him look up at them.
The three of them walked over to a table that wasnt broken and the Dunbar siblings watch as Mason flips through the pages until he finds the one he wants, which is a specialized map of Beacon Hills. "All right, this is the one. You see these? These are ley lines. They're mapped according to telluric currents." Mason said as he pointed at parts if the map.
"Stiles said that he and Lydia were looking at the intersections." Liam said and Mason nodded slightly while tracing his finger across ley lines. "Probably... This one." He said as he pointed at one but Liam sighed, "But they never found it... They kept going out there to look, but they said the Nemeton has to want to be found." He said and Mason's eyes widen.
"It's a supernatural tree that has to want to be found in order for you to see it?" He asked and they nodded, "Yeah." Avalon said. "That's awesome!" He said before Liam turned to his sister, "You woke up there, do you remember where it is?" He asked and Avalon shook her head. "No, I was too focused on being alive and a catatonic Lydia." She said before looking back down at the book.
"We should just make a copy." Mason said and Avalon shrugged, "Just rip it out " She said and Liam nodded before ripping the page out. The two siblings walk away, leaving Mason looking appalled and dumbfounded between the book and where Liam was just standing, as though desecrating the book was highly offensive to him.
Still stunned by Liam ripping out the page, Mason gently closes the book and following after Liam and Avalon.

"This is it. There should be a clearing here." Mason said as they walked through the woods, "Maybe the clearing doesn't want to be found, either?" Mason said as they glanced around. Liam sighed softly before crouched down making Avalon and Mason crouch down next to him.
"I couldn't save you or her..." Liam said, glancing at her sister making her sigh softly while Mason shook his head, "No one could. I was standing right there for both Avalon and Hayden. Avalon wouldn't have been lucky to make it to the car let alone to get any help and Melissa did everything medically possible with Hayden." Mason said and Avalon nodded in agreement.
"It's not your fault, Liam." She said and Liam shook his head, "While I was kidnapped and trying to kill Scott..." Liam said and Mason sighed softly. "You can't take all the blame. I mean, there was like, eight hundred extenuating circumstances." Avalon said. "It wasn't just the moon-" Liam said and Mason shook his head slightly, "Then it was losing your sister and Hayden, fear, anger... And Theo took advantage of it." Mason said.
"Or maybe it was just me." Liam said and Mason shook his head, :Liam, you're a werewolf. There was a full moon- a supermoon. And you can't let yourself..." He trailed off slightly before slowing standing up making them stand up as well.
"What?" Avalon asked as Mason glanced around slightly, "The Nemeton's a beacon for supernatural creatures, right?" He asked and they nodded. "So, what if it takes a supernatural creature to find it?" Mason asked and Liam scoffed, "Avalon and I are supernatural creatures, and I can't find anything." He said as he gestured around at the trees and Avalon sighed.
"But we've been looking with our human eyes." Avalon said and Mason nodded in agreement making Liam catch on. Avalon and Liam both close their eyes before opening again to reveal Liam's glowing golden yellow irises and Avalon's golden yellow and firey reddish-orange eyes.
They glanced around for a moment before Avalon grabbed her brother's arm, "There." She said pointing off in the distance. Liam's eyes widened slightly before he grabbed Mason's arm and pulled him in front of Avalon as they looked in the distance. "What? What?" Mason said as he looked around confused, "Look."
"I don't see any..." Mason trailed off when Avalon grabbed his head and turned it slightly. Mason's eyes widen and his jaw dropped when he sees the Nemeton several yards away. The stump sat in the middle of the clearing, surrounded by several bodies.
"Intense."
A while later, night had fallen, and the three had just finished looking all of the bodies still laying on and around the Nemeton. The only bodies left on or around the stump are those of Beth, the female Chimera that Kira killed, Donovan, and Lucas.
"There's only four here." Liam said and Avalon nodded, "I wonder why he only woke up five of us." She said and Liam shook his head slightly. "I only care about one. Hayden's also alive." Liam said and Mason sighed, "Okay, we gotta tell someone about this. We get the cops down here, and they can figure out who's dead, who's alive, and who's... whatever. Sound good?" Mason asked.
Before Liam or Avalon could say anything, bright lights illuminate the scene making the thee squint slightly as they cover their faces with their hands just as a voice calls out to them. "You three! Stay right where you are." A Deputy said, as several deputies walked towards them and the Nemeton.
"That's it. That's where I found the bodies-" A familiar face said as Hayden stepped forward, "Four of them."
