🎭 Creatures Of The Night 🎭

Avalon laid next to Scott on the hood of the Jeep at Lookout Point, watching the night sky. "All right, so I found some cool two bedrooms in the Mission District, but they're pretty expensive. A couple in Haight and Ashbury, also expensive." Stiles said, he had a map of the greater San Francisco region spread out on the hood of the Jeep next to Scott and is marking potential places to live for college.

"What about Berkeley? Don't a lot of students live around there?" Scott asked, looking over at Stiles who nodded. "Yeah, yeah, we could try Knob Hill. But, the Jeep would probably burn through a lot of clutches." Stiles said making Avalon move some of her now dirty blonde hair out of her face and sit up against her forearms to look over at him.

"You're really gonna bring the jeep?" Avalon asked and he looked at her like that was the dumbest question she could ever ask, "You know the plan, okay? No one gets left behind. That's the plan. Lydia isn't gonna have any problems getting into Stanford. You'll probably be able to get into any art school. Kira's thinking USF. Malia's, uh, gonna, you know, she'll figure something out, okay. The plan's perfect." Stiles said.

"Or we could also wait until we actually get into college and then figure out where to live." Scott said and Stiles looked at him offended now, "I have a vision, dude. Okay? And it is a beautiful vision. Don't ruin the vision." Stiles said and they chuckled before looking back out at the sky while Stiles went back to the map. "Okay, we can check out the East Bay. Haven't looked at Oakland yet, you know." He said before looking at Scott then at the full moon.

"You're all right? You're starting to feel it?" Stiles asked and Scott shook his head, "No. Just thinking." Scott said and Avalon glanced over at him. "About what?" She ask and he looked over at her before glancing at Stiles, "Senior year."

"Senior year, come on, that's, that's... That's nothing. That's going to be easy." Stiles said and Scott sighed softly and sat up. "It's more like something Deaton told me once. You ever hear of "regression to the mean?"" Scott asked they shook their heads, "No, I don't think so." Stiles said.

"It was his way of saying that life can't ever be all bad or all good. You know, eventually, things have to come back to the middle. So, think about the last few months. Things have been good, right? But not amazing." Scott said and Stiles pursed his lips, "Yeah, but no one's tried to kill us in six months either."

"Right. We've been pretty much in the middle for a while... Which means, at some point, the scale has to tip one way or the other. Things are gonna get really good again." Scott said and Avalon sighed, "Or really bad." She said and Scott nodded. They looked back out again when there was a loud thunder and flash of light as the storm starts to gather.

"Think it's been long enough?"

"Yes!"

They turn around to look at Liam who has been chained to a tree the whole time they've been there. "Hey. Trying to have an adult conversation over here." Stiles says making Liam roll his eyes, "All right, you're two years older than me, and I'm fine. Just let me go." Liam said and they sighed before walking over to him.

"It's not that we don't trust you-" Scott said as he pulled out the keys, "It's that I don't trust you." Stiles interjected. "But after that last full moon." Scott said making Liam sigh, "It was one slip-up!" He defended making Stiles raise his eyebrows.

"Slip-up? A dozen calls to the Sheriff's department about a monstrous dog boy running around the streets of Beacon Hills??? Naked???" Stiles said exasperatedly making Avalon furrow her brows, "Yeah, why were you naked?" She asked and he looked down sheepishly. "It was really hot out that night, okay? Let me go!"

"You sure you're okay? Scott asked and Liam nodded, "It won't happen again." He said and Scott raised his eyebrows. "You're in complete and total control." He said and Liam sighed and nodded again, "Yeah. Complete and total."

A few minutes later they were all in the jeep driving down the road. Scott and Stiles sat in the front while Avalon and Liam sat in the back, him leaning in between the front seats. "Is it a party?" Liam asked, "It's not a party." Stiles answered slightly annoyed.

"Then what's at midnight?"

"Your bedtime." Stiles said making Liam roll his eyes while Avalon chuckled, not looking up from her phone. "Why aren't the girls going?" Liam asked making Avalon scoff and look at her brother, "I guess I dont exist anymore." She said sarcastically but they ignored her. "They're meeting us there, okay? And just stop asking questions, all right? It's a senior thing. You'll know when you're a senior."

"You guys having trouble with your phones?" Scott asked and Avalon glanced down at her phone, "Yeah, none of my texts are sending." She said and almost right after the engine started spluttering before stopping. "You out of gas?" Liam asked and Stiles shook his head, "No, it's electrical. Probably the alternator again." Stiles said before him and Scott got out.

Avalon waited until she saw the hood go up before turning to Liam. "So, how long are you gonna keep up the lie?" She asked making him look at her wide eyed, "W-What?" He asked and she raised her eyebrows. "Like I've said before, I taught you how to lie. Which means, I know when you're lying. Show me your hands." She said and he sighed before holding his hand out to show bloody claw indents in his palm.

"You don't have to say anything, I already know." He said and she shrugged slightly, "I wasnt gonna say anything about the control part, you're still learning. I was just gonna say that you dont have to lie about it." Avalon said and he nodded. "I know." He said and she smiled at him before messing up his hair making him groan.

All of the sudden a lightning strikes down about thirty feet behind the jeep making Liam and Avalon turn to look out the back window. "Guys." Liam said and then another lightning striked, this time close to the jeep making the two jump. "Hey dickbags!" Avalon yelled.

"Yeah, give us a second, please."

"Guys, stay in the car, okay?" Scott and Stiles yelled back making Avalon scoff, "How about I shove my foot up your asses instead?" She mumbled as she climbed into the front seat. This time a lightning strike hit about twenty feet away from Scott and Stiles making them spin around. "That was close." Scott said and Stiles nodded, "Very close."

Avalon turned the key and the jeep came to life making the boys spin around as she peeked her head out the window. "Can we get the hell out of here now? Not all of us can heal." She said and they nodded before walking over whole she climbed back into the back seat.

A few minutes later Stiles pulled up where Malia told them to meet her, "Sorry we're late!" Stiles said as he got out. Malia quickly climbed in and sat down next to Liam, making him be in the middle of the two girls. Almost instantly, everyone turned to Malia, "What?" She asked when she noticing all their eyes on her. "Did you find out yet?" Avalon asked making Malia and Liam look at her, "Find out what?" Liam asked.

"They're gonna email me." Malia said nodding, "Is this about summer school?" Liam asked making Avalon close her eyes while pinching the bridge of her nose while Malia looked at Stiles wide-eyed. "You told him?" She asked making Stiles's eyes widen while Liam shook his head.

"Oh, no! All they said was you had to go to summer school 'cause the principal said your test scores weren't good enough and you might have to repeat Jun-" Liam said but his words got muffled as Avalon covered his mouth with her hand while Stiles looked at Scott.

"We should have left him chained to the tree."

🎭

Malia and Avalon stood at the front desk, talking to Melissa as they were dropping Liam off at the hospital when Stiles and Scott walked up to them. "Guy, if you were in relationships and you were going away, and your partners told you "Don't worry, go have fun", what would you think they were talking about?" Stiles asked making them look over at him.

"Painting." Avalon said, "Fun like bowling? Or sex with other people?" Malia asked making Scott's face drained of color. "Okay, now I'm worried." Scott said before a few paramedics moved past them, rolling someone on a gurney. "Hey, Mom? Where's all this coming from?" Scott asked as Melissa started following, "A jack-knifed tractor-trailer on 115- caused a major pile-up." She said making Avalon's eyes widen as she turned to Scott.

"Okay, not to cause any panic but uh- 115 is the only way to get into Beacon Hills from the airport. Kira's never gonna make it." Avalon said and Scott's eyes widened before shaking his head, "I can get her. You guys head to the school. Lydia's probably already there. We'll meet you by midnight." Scott said as he walked away from them.

"How are you gonna get to her in the middle of a traffic jam?" Stiles asked and Scott looked back at him, "We'll make it. Trust me." He said before walking out.

🎭

"Nothing from Scott or Kira." Malia said and Stiles sighed, "And nothing from Lydia, either." He said. "And I still don't know if I passed." Malia said before looking around at everyone, "I don't want to do this unless I'm actually a senior." She said and Avalon sighed grabbed her hand making Malia look at her. "You'll pass. You got this." Avalon said before they looked at Stiles.

"What's wrong with you? You smell terrible." Malia said making Stiles sigh and turn to them, "Yeah, it's called anxiety- should be a familiar scent for you by now, since it's pretty much a constant state for me." He said and Avalon raised her eyebrows. "Why's this thing so important to you?" She asked and he sighed and shook his head slightly.

"It's not. It's not. It's, uh...I don't know, maybe it is. I asked my dad the other day about his high school friends. Guess how many he still talks to?" He asked and they shrugged, "None. Not a single one. You know, these were his best friends, and he just says he lost touch with them, you know. So, I started thinking about things, like I always do- obsessively. Yeah... And so, I'm thinking, what if... What if Scott's my best friend now, you know, but he's not my best friend for life?"

"Doesn't that just happen sometimes?" Malia asked and he nodded slightly, "Yeah, but only because we let it happen. You know, that's what I'm saying- how come when we graduate, we're just expected to go our separate ways? If I've already found the best people in my life, why aren't I not trying to stay with them, you know?" He said and Avalon nodded.

"I thought that was the plan. The dream." Avalon said and he squinted at her, "The vision. And don't mock the vision!" He said and she shook her head. "I'm not mocking it. I think it's a good thing that you have a plan, not many people do." She said. "So that's why you wanted everyone here tonight- because you don't want to lose all your friends after senior year." Malia said and he nodded, "And I hope they don't want to lose me, either." He said and Malia furrowed her brows slightly.

"What?" Avalon asked as Malia glanced around slightly, "Someone's coming. Someone fast." She said. She suddenly turned around as someone ran up to them and pushed them to the ground. "Liam?" Avalon asked as she looked down at her brother, "What the hell are you doing here? You're supposed to be with dad." She said. "I know but Scott's in trouble!" He said making them all look at each other before breaking into a run.

They followed Liam until they made it to the tunnel that connected the school to the field. Scott was on his knees with some dude standing in front of him with his claws inside Scott's chest. Scott grabbed the man wrist before slowly looking up at him with red eyes.

Slowly, he got enough strength to stand up making the man look shocked. Scott grabbed the dude's arm before snapping it making him groan out in pain and fall to his knees. "I don't know who you are, or what you thought you were going to do, but I'll give you a choice. You can stay, and I'll break something else... Or you can run." Scott said and the man looked over at everyone else.

"I'd run." Stiles said. Almost instantly the man got up and ran out of the tunnel making them walk over to Scott and Kira. That's when they noticed an extra person.

"Who the fuck are you?" Avalon asked looking at the guy weird as he turned to them, "You guys don't remember me, do you?" He asked, looking at Scott and Stiles who just look at him confused. "I guess I look a little different since the fourth grade." He said and realization crossed over Scott's face, "Theo?" He asked.

"You know him?" Malia asked making them look over at her, "They used to. Trust me, I never thought I'd see you guys again. A couple of months ago, I heard of an Alpha in Beacon Hills. When I found out his name was Scott McCall, I just couldn't believe it. Not just an Alpha, but a True Alpha." Theo said.

"What do you want?" Scott asked and Theo smiled, "I came back to Beacon Hills- back home with my family- because I want to be a part of your pack." Theo said making both Avalon and Stiles look at him warily.

"We haven't seen this kid in years- you don't find that highly suspicious?" Stiles asked as they walked into the school, "I'm kind of more concerned about the guy who just tried to kill me." Scott said and then Malia's phone buzzed making them all turn to her.

"I'm in! I passed." Malia said making Avalon smile, "I told you." She said before pulling Malia into a hug. "I'm officially a senior." Malia said happily as she and Avalon pulled apart.

"Thank God!" Someone said making them all turn to see Lydia walking over to them, "Where have you guys been? The whole senior class is here! Are we doing this or not?" Lydia asked. They all looked at each other and smiled before nodding and they all started walking to the library.

Stiles was the first one to write his initial on the shelf before handing the pen over to Lydia. "This isn't vandalism, is it?" Kira asked as Lydia handed her the pen, "Not technically." Lydia said before walking away. Kira wrote her initials then handed Malia the pen.

Malia wrote an "M" before hesitating for a moment before writing a "T". She turned to Avalon who smiled and winked at her as she grabbed the pen. Avalon stepped forward and wrote 'AD' before handing Scott the pen before walking over to stand next to Malia

Scott wrote his initials but then hesitated for a moment before writing "AA" making his friends smile softly. "She would have been with us." Stiles said after Scott walked over to them. "She still is." Lydia said making them smile softly.
